    Other impressions on the video:

Edwards seems to know what he's talking about tactically and I'm generally impressed with his approach.

I echo the sentiments of those saying that the players seem a bit reserved and lacking in enthusiasm initially. We are clearly missing some leaders and motivators in that dressing room.

There are some mixed reactions here to Edwards's general attitude and demeanour - his enthusiasm and apparent chumminess are overall a positive I reckon, but it doesn't appear to be rubbing off on the players so far. Based on that I can understand those saying he seems to be acting a bit too chummy and close, and it ultimately being a bit awkward.

Time will tell though, and I think the telling factor will be how Edwards deals with the above issues. Even though on the face of it he seems to be acting all friendly to the group, I'm sure he must have a ruthless, determined streak in him somewhere to have done well at FGR and maybe he's keeping it for the discussions behind closed doors?

For instance, is he going to recognise that the club is currently lacking leadership and motivation amongst the players, and ask the board to sign more leaders? Is he going to take the likes of Cathcart and Cleverley aside and give them a kick up the backside about setting more of a positive, winning example, as opposed to just making the occasional jokey dig on the training pitch?

At the end of his talk to the players and rounding up of the training sessions, and he asks the players if they understood that/took well to that etc. and was met with stoney silence, I can understand if in front of the club's official cameras he didn't push the issue further. But if it keeps happening will he eventually get more forceful in encouraging the players to be more enthusiastic, vocal and awakened out of their stupor?

He is definitely making mental notes at least as to who he likes and who he thinks should do well, and who he has question marks over - even if these are only shown subtly on camera. For instance, he seems to give Sema more genuinely positive feedback and appreciation after the training session than any of the other players he's seen talking to. Many of us could perhaps understand that as if there's at least one good thing we can say about Sema is that he's for sure a tryer. And maybe while making silly jokes at the likes of Cathcart, Cleverley and Gosling regarding their attitude and fitness on camera he is at the back of his mind thinking that they could be serious issues that need addressing and accounting for?

I don't think he'll be completely oblivious to some of the concerns raised by the posters here. The thing is whether he'll have the guts to act on them, and the support in doing so. For sure it's not going to be a quick fix though.

It was a publicly released video. A bit like those clips you see of Boris at the Cabinet meeting. No one else is seen to speak, but that’s because it’s shown so that the audience hears just one voice. Who knows what is actually said and done when the cameras are turned off.

I have heard it all. During the dark days of Hodgson we all prayed for a manager who was happy to be here now we have one he is too happy to be here.

Very interesting interview on the wobby site. Seems he has far more input than previous and that he has given names already that he wants.

Proof of the pudding is in the eating but there may be a small shift!

Fair enough and obviously the club are fairly happy with the squad going by previous comments.

Im delighted to have a manager who is happy to be here, I support him 100%

Its the club hierarchy/current players I don't trust and who I suspect may take advantage of his enthusiasm and gratitude for the opportunity

Time will tell and I hope he is given both that time and the opportunity to mould the squad

Rob Edwards has said in a couple of interviews today (including with Geoff Doyle on BBC Three Counties) that Cleverley will play a major role this season due to leadership and experience.

Some of the non-English mother tongue speakers may have found it difficult to understand all that Edwards said. I thought that he spoke too quickly - probably as a result of his enthusiasm.

When talking on transfers, Edwards said:-

“It’s a two-way street, let’s be clear about that. I may identify a type of player I am looking for and then they will go and find options, but similarly I bring my own suggestions to the table. I’ve named one or two players already and the reaction has been positive.”

Well I suppose laughter is a positive reaction.

Bleurgh - was he asked specifically about Cleverley, or did he volunteer that information? Hopefully that influence is kept away from the pitch.

In support of that, another thing that was interesting in the club's latest video is at the start of his speech Edwards actually says to them "I've not brought any of you in" - I think it indicates he's aware he could have some issues with some of their characters, as well as playing styles, and needs to bring in a few of his own choosing to help swing the attitude of the dressing room back around.

    Alright, I'll have a go.

?; Cathcart, Kaba, Holding; ?, McKiernan, Gosling, Morris; Quina; Baah, Mebude.

Obviously just for the training exercises but hoping that's the lineup for Sheff Utd so Uncle Ron has a meltdown.

Based on that + the clips of the session itself:

    Bachmann
    Cathcart - Kabasele - Holding
    Ngakia - McKiernan - Gosling - Morris
    Quina
    Baah - Blake
Would presume the other XI would've been something like this, based on who's been seen in training so far:

    Okoye
    Andrews - Pollock - Samir
    Femenia - Cleverley - Manning - Sema
    Dele-Bashiru
    Hungbo - Mebude

What l do not understand is why fans can see that something is nor right, but the club fail to notice. I know that all fans are managers in their own heads.
It is clear to many that Cleverley and his legs are not on the same wavelength. His legs are shot and looks knackered after just 30mins.
It clear that Cathcart is way, way past his best, whenever that was.
He should no where near the starting XI.
Spurs, Newcastle and Watford fans all fired warning shots about Danny Rose and his fitness/mental health. Yet, a two year deal at 60k a week was given. How did that signing turn out?
Fletcher is another dud and in a 5 Yr deal..
I have no idea how Edwards tenure will work out or for how long for.
Some say he has 5 games now that the fixture list is out.
Some say the groundwork for FGR promotion was done before he became the manager.
I hope he gets time, signs his players, though his own signings at FGR did very little and it works out for him at Watford.
Unfortunately, we all know that this is not the Watford/Duxbury/Pozzo way.

I don't think any club in the Championship will be worried about facing Watford if any of those two teams above begins the season.
New signings are needed if we are to have a chance of promotion or a play-off place.

After reading all the latest comments on the training video on here, it does not sound good.
I get the feeling via the comments that the players don't rate him or respect him. This happened to Ivic and his strict discipline. He was soon out.
    Let's see what happens.
Anyone know what the odds are on that he leaves before the season begins?
    Just asking.

Think you are being a bit dramatic or reading into the body language too much .

Far as I aware only Cleverley has spoken in public about Edwards.

He says he wants to play by dominating possession. If that is so we need to sign at least 2 midfielders because we currently only have Louza who is comfortable with the ball at his feet. Unlike many, I dont mind Cleverly as he can press high but hes not a possession player.

It's not even a case of merging the two together, there's hopefully as many as 7 starters to add into the mix.

Maybe prime Zola? Still, seeing us rip Southampton a new on away under Silva was pretty special. Also, the 3-3 with Liverpool was a damn good opening season game. I do wonder if we had kept him on (even now?) if Evertongate never happened.
