Heavily linked with striker Vakoun Bayo by Belgian media. Plays for Gent but spent last season on loan at Charleroi - who have obvious links to Mogi Bayat.

Moved to Charleroi last month, moving to us now. All perfectly normal things that happen in football. https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/vak...-permanent-deal-for-ivory/blt0db7208faec039ee
Scored 11 in 15 last season, which sounds good on paper, but even Perica managed 8 in 16 for Mouscron, and he was mostly rubbish for us.
Oh for f*** sake. “Lessons learned” clearly doesn’t extend to not buying Mogi Bayat’s tat then. Honestly, the dirt he must have on Gino…
Across his career, he has a very good goal contribution rate (66 goals/assists in 6800 minutes) but he has never played more than 1500 league minutes in a season. If he can scale up that goal record across the season that’s great. His low minutes doesn’t appear to be injury based. Just not preferred at his clubs seemingly.
F*cking LOL at all of us thinking we'd actually go for someone like Keinan Davis. Instead we've predictably been double teamed by Mogi and his brother. Never change Gino, never change mate.
It makes very interesting reading if you google Mogi. He doesnt look how I expected him to do. Quite a history he has
Disagree - not necessarily. Duxbury was quite clear that he consults with Edwards regarding the profile of player that he wants and then presents a list of potential targets. Obviously that list is populated with players the club could do an easy deal for (Udinese/Bayat), among others. This guy is a huge target man type with a great goal record, which is a key part of Edwards’ style of play as we saw at FGR last season. I’d rather we didn’t sign anyone from Mogi. But this lad looks quite good, has a great goal record and is very strong aerially.
So a player with a very few international caps for the Ivory Coast. Barren spell at Celtic but seems capable in Slovakian and Belgian leagues and a few in Ligue 2 At 25 you'd expect he is reaching near his peak. From that video seems to like to run past the last man to score Described as physical but only 6ft It's another Mogi gamble. Lets see if it pays off. This is precisely the kind of signing we should have all expected.
Why wouldn't he be consulted? There is nothing to suggest (if this rumour is true) that he hasn't been
Did not impress in his time at Celtic. Hopefully nothing in this or it is just going to be another Kalu/Kayembe signing to keep Pozzo’s buddies happy.
Looks a threat (a bit Toney-esque in the short highlight video I watched), but couldn’t even get into the Celtic squad, so will reserve judgment until I see him play (if I ever do).
Because our managers never are historically, and it seems a long shot Edwards would come up with a Belgian league player connected to Mogi Bayat? You can believe the recent PR. Or you can believe that they won’t change. The evidence on this one points to the latter.
Oh yes this absolutely reeks of a Rob Edwards signing. Just so happens to come from the Bayats as well, what are the chances! He's more than likely been told that this guy is signing which makes a mockery of what Duxbury told us.
A Mogi Bayat deal doesn't mean the player is a stinking pile of poo. We've had a few hits with Bayat, the best being Dennis, but also Kamara and Louza have come via him. Of course there have been turds too, but from what I've seen of Bayo from YouTube, he looks mobile, fast and reminds me very much of Ivan Toney. Clearly, looking at his career stats, he's not really played at a very high level. Celtic was his big move and he flopped there, which is a concern. The Championship is a step up from probably any league he's played in to date, so it's a gamble. But he's a good age, and looks easy on the eye by the way he plays. Can head a ball too, which is a novelty for our forwards. We'll have to see how he adapts, but I can see some potential in him.
Thanks! Do you have one which shows his compared with similar players? I wonder who he profiles similar to based on that. He definitely has some strengths to his game.
No-one knows anything about him but people are complaining. I can’t stand buying Mogi’s clients either, but on the front of it, he looks a decent player.
He actually looks a good player, a proper target man. Basically like a quicker Ross Stewart. What level would people say the Jupiler Pro is compared to PL/Champ/League One? Because compared to: Ben Brereton, Keinan Davis, Viktor Gyokeres, Antoine Semenyo, Johnson Clarke-Harris, Elijah Adebayo, Michael Obafemi, Ross Stewart (L1), Scott Twine (L1) Bayo last season has: - the best non-penalty goals per minute - the best non-penalty xG per minute - 2nd best headed goals per minute (after Stewart) - 2nd best aerial duals won per minute (after Stewart) - 3rd for goal conversion rate per 90 (after Obafemi and Adebayo) - 2nd for total defensive actions per 90 (after Adebayo) - 1st for defensive duels won He won't be too much involved in buildup, pretty mediocre for dribbles and assists, but he seems a very good finisher and excellent in the air. He also seems good at defending from the front. If Edwards asked for a target man/goalscorer who is excellent in the air and can press well high up the pitch then this guy does actually seem to fit the ball. I think those moaning just because he's likely a Mogi deal are jumping the gun, this could be one of the occasional decent ones.
Douglas Barder was great aerially! Will this fella, have the around game to spearhead a promotion campaign?
People are complaining for the same reason you are. He might be good like Lukebakio/Kamara he might be garbage like Kalu/Kayembe/Oulare. But why oh why do we have to constantly do our business through one agent, whose hit rate is distinctly average, and costly in terms of agent fees.
Charleroi buy him one month, flog him to Watford the next month. Mogi’s brother benefits and no doubt Mogi gets a intermediary fee so he benefits. Will we benefit? We'll have to see.
