In fairness, if you tuned in because of the new track that’s pretty bad luck as this track was a complete borefest. Standard new F1 track.

Another track chosen for money and commercial reasons over quality of racing.

Had to rely on a safety car to get some excitement.

Well done to Russell though for getting another top 5 position and Albon earning another point from no where .

Can't say I like the track - too slow for F1. But the amount of young talent in F1 at the moment is mad. I'm sure there will be some outstanding races this season.

  4. Admittedly years of boring racing left me not bothering so far this season until tonight and I only really tuned in due to the different time and being no football so I don't know what the others have been like this year.

  5. Oh man, I just caught some of the highlights on channel 4 and that American driver interviewer at the end was so cringy!

    "You can really race, baby!"
    "How were the tyres?"
    "Charles 'Chuck' Leclerc"
    "How are you feeling, physically?"
    "How were the tyres?"
"You should be in the boxing ring, baby, 'cause you know how to fight"
    "How is the chassis?"
    "How were the tyres?"
"Congratulations on the podium, you can drive!"

When I heard the sirens I thought they were coming for Willy T Ribbs after he murdered those interviews. But no, it was for the police escort to the podium. Obviously.

The racing has been much better this year generally. This race was awful though. Everything about it. No grip off the racing line. The only real way to overtake was drs down consecutive straights. And everything around it was abysmal and as you’d expect for an inaugural race in Miami.

I feel like only RB have a world class technical/ strategic team. RB are constantly talking to their drivers about what to do if a safety car is released. Both Ferrari and Mercedes completely messed up the obvious stop for their drivers. Both have also had very poor pit stops this year.

RB would be dominating this year if they didn’t have so many early DNFs

As usual a boring street circuit.
If they absolutely HAVE to race 3 times in the USA can they at least do it in Laguna Seca or Road America or just anywhere mildly exciting where overtakes aren't just down a 10 mile straight?

Imagine the carnage through the Corkscrew, there'd be front wing parts everywhere! I've been to Sonoma, that's quite interesting for a spectator.

Mercs new floor apparently has made them a lot more competitive. RB still favourites in Spain, given their tyre def is a lot better than RBS.

So it proved as Ferrari messed up/had bad luck again.

Good to see Russell on the Podium.

Sounds like it was a decent race by Spanish GP standards.

Enjoyed the race today, especially Verstappen moaning like a child about his rear fins not opening, (despite the fact he only needed DRS because he f***ed up so badly). It proved that DRS will is not something they can get rid of as he couldn't overtake Russel without it.

    Watching Channel 4 highlights.

David Coulthard didn’t think much of Perez complaining about team orders.

Basically said he should “shut up and get on with it”!

    DC’s a consultant for RB isn’t he?

Perez was faster and Max had crashed and ruined their race tactics.

Perez knows he is the number 2 driver, but I don’t think any other team would apply team orders so early in such circumstances.

I can see why he was annoyed.

Hamilton can’t catch a break. Car has been useless except in the slow corners all year.

Finally gets a decent car without bouncing. Gets hit by KM and goes to the back of the grid in a race where he had the fastest pace on track.

Now his car is bouncing like mad again and the new floor means it has lost its advantage in the slow speed corners, at Monaco.

Yes - noticed Hamilton was having a few issues.

They seemed to be going off all over the place.

Mind you probably be the usual suspects at the top for qualifying (the race) .

Leclerc is due a good run in his home race.

The pit stops might be more exciting than the actual race.

One the greatest races gets underway shortly, the 24 hrs of the Nurburgring.

Be a Ferrari 1-2 then unless one of them mess up again which isn't out of the question!

Guess Perez will be asked very swiftly to let Verstappen through..

Start delayed by 9 minutes because of last minute rain showers before the start. And a load of scousers trying to get in without tickets.

Formation lap to be behind the safety car, which in turn means they start under the safety car. Yawn. F1 increasingly being sanitised and risk assessed to death. It’s not even raining enough for an umbrella!

Guess they don’t want cars flying off the track as it would be mayhem.

But a shame really - will probably just be the usual procession now.

Well that’s Monaco. Starting to look the the new race director has completely bottled it. Light drizzle and he’s lost the plot. Seems to think he’s a cricket umpire.

Right call to delay it. Would have been carnage on the 1st lap with them starting on slicks. Should start normally tho. Teams should be able to pick what tyres they want to start on. They're raced in the damp before.

Love Monaco. Not the best racing but a good watch with the background. Being wet should be interesting.

Red flag. Makes sense, as does the first delay. The bit in between was just risk adverse nonsense.

Maybe they should race indoors in future.

Handbrake turn at each end and a slalom through cones in the middle. Like an auto test.

    I think we've invented a new sport.

I think they've learned on that one. Rain due to stop in 10.

They want you to get so desperate you’ve no choice but to turn to the Heineken 0,0 and end it all.

I wouldn't touch the alcoholic stuff let alone that.

I now have a cup of tea and a ginger biscuit.
