Hi Guys, New to the forum, I just wanted to hear your opinion on Ben Foster's YouTube channel, I've spoken to a few fans and they aren't keen on him doing it. However, in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with it and personally think he's been one of our best players and has kept us in a lot of games.
Long thread in the Team Bus section . I think you will be in a very small minority there with that view ! Welcome to the site though .
Hi Nathan, I can appreciate that fans from other clubs will like him because he gives a greater access to a Premier League Footballers life, but I don't think it's professional at all and to me I feel it's distracted him this season. He's setting himself up for retirement but the cost of him not having the focus hits the club. Would he have this YouTube channel if Fergie was his manager still - no chance.
It was great during Covid when fans couldn’t get to games and were starved of access. It’s probably also great for any football fan who isn’t also a Watford fan. For Watford fans it’s awful, as nobody wants to see any of their players trying to get opposition players shirts and making jokey content about letting bad goals in.
His you tube channel makes him look like an immature moron who cares more for getting opposition shirts after we get stuffed than giving the slightest sh*t about Watford. That's the condensed version.
If you regularly watch content producers on youtube, you might like it. If you don't regularly watch content producers on youtube, you almost certainly wont.
It's interesting to see how a lot of our fans have the same view. I do think though that if the team was playing well and he was doing it, there would be no problem. Just my opinion though.
But the team isn’t doing well, and surely it’s no coincidence considering the players seemingly Laissez-faire attitude towards being competitive, showing the opposition zero respect, not giving them a single inch in games, contesting every decision etc. an attitude of wanting to get an opposition players shirt the moment a game ends is indicative of a losers culture.
I agree, I don't quite understand why those who do not like it keep watching it. I also agree with this though. Most of the players seem soft/disinterested in giving there all for the team/supporters to ensure we escape relegation. Not sure Ben is any worse than most of the players, he just puts it out there and draws a lot of negative comments.
It's his choice and it's something he enjoys doing in his free time. He's more than likely retiring next season so it's easy to see why he is more interested in his vlogs than playing well for us half the time. However, it's very unprofessional the way he conducts himself after games. Ironically, considering the game we have next, when we got smashed 8-0 by Citee under QSF, his post match comment to MotD made most of us vomit. He was having a laugh about it saying how good they were etc, without a word that we were totally useless and never laid a glove on them, or didn't try to. He looks like a good guy to know outside of football, have a laugh with and I am sure that is true. However, when he plays for Watford, especially this season, he has been very half arsed.
There are regular comments in threads moaning about what he has recently posted, have you not seen them? I have not registered who has made the complaints so cannot say for sure it is the same people, but likely.
It was better when he was actually allowed to video himself in goal during games but does seems to be a bit of showing off and trying to be one of the lads now (and Big Baz)
I think it's highly unlikely, and have not seen much evidence for, the people complaining somehow masochistically forcing themselves to sit through the videos for no discernible reason - it's extremely possible to be able to tell the content and tone of them without doing so, and those things are in fact often major sources of complaint.
I watch it because he's Watford's David Brent/Alan Partridge - he's unintentionally hilarious by being utterly tone deaf about everything and desperate to be down with the kids. Amazing catchphrases too. #theGurningGK #that'sfootball
So you are saying those people complaining about it don't actually watch any of his content. They just know it will be objectionable so complain about what they assume it says. That all makes sense
You only have to see a freeze frame of him “lolling” at the Arsenal social media types about saving a penalty to know he’s a childish unprofessional dolt. Takes 5 seconds. No need to invest any further time in concluding that he is an idiot. Job done.
But you could of made that conclusion a long time ago, why are people even looking at freeze frames of him?
Someone posted it on here about 6 months ago and after a few seconds I concluded he was a b3llend. I really didn’t need to spend much effort thinking it through. Can’t speak for how others arrived at their opinions.
You don't need to 'actively' watch them - the particularly idiotic comments (there's lots of them) get plastered all over social media pretty quickly.
I am not a big social media consumer. Mainly because I do not like being pushed things I am not interested in. I would suggest blocking those few people who watch his content and flood social media with it.
As someone else said, during the pandemic it was fine. However, now it seems he doesn't give a **** we are about to get relegated. I was mostly fine with it for a while but that changed after he gave a moronic Liverpool fan a home ticket and after he aggravated an injury playing with Hashtag United. It seems like he is way more focused on the channel rather than on doing the job he is payed over 20k a week for.
Not meaning to be. I just don't get why people keep moaning about something that may be annoying but not really important. If you don't like what he does off the field just don't look at it. Complain about his declining match performance, but the rest is not important.
Well it is important if people have the opinion that what he’s doing off the pitch is affecting his performances on it. And that’s what many people think… And this is a Watford forum - if one of our players is making a complete *** of himself on a regular basis, stands to reason people will ‘rubberneck’ to see it and then comment on it.
Bloke got injured playing in a YouTube match a few days before a game. That alone proves that this stuff he does off the pitch has always impacted him on it. Both his show and his performances are utterly diabolical so it’s absolutely fair to equate them.
