Interesting. In a completely non sarcastic way, it seems odd that an employee of another club would have that much insider knowledge of the employment situation of our Chief Executive, but stranger things happen at sea.
King is a waste of space. His goal scoring record over the last few seasons worse than Gray’s. Get rid
Personally I was initially pleased when we signed him and I thought he showed up as quite a decent looking forward, but he has definitely gone downhill fast. He's not the only one though.
Not isolating King, our whole forward line have taken to playing their own games and there is zero chemistry between them, hence the lack of goals. The whole team dynamic is shot at the moment and it’s only a matter of time until we are confirmed as relegated. Unfortunately like last time, I’m not confident about bouncing back straight away. Our best players will be sold this time round to balance the books and we will not spend a penny on transfers to fill the voids left. I still can’t believe that Gino has never paid a transfer fee for a player while we are a championship team. Not sure what Udinese players come our way, maybe a few familiar faces will return?
Doubt Vydra would come back as should he propel us to the back EPL Pozzo will just shaft him and send him back to the EFL like he did the last time. That said, I’d welcome him back as King is turd
Ucko on Twitter says Duxbury told the committee that he wants Kucka, Cleverley and Gosling in the squad next season. Laughable but he'll get his way because they're under contract and who the hell will want them? Just like Cathcart and Kabasele, they'll be here because we hand out idiotic contracts to average players. Also the decision should be down to the new head coach, but that's not the way the club works. The Stability are football people and clearly know how to build a squad.
Or hasn't got a lot of choice as they are here contracted to stay and won't move on? Not so long ago Gosling wasn't even in this squad!
No, we’re castigating them for taking ‘punts from a ****’, as in the normally mentioned agent resulting us in having the 6th highest agent fees in the PL.
I'd keep King for next season. Not sure if he'll want to stay though, he might think he can get a move to one of the promoted teams. Vydra on a free would be a no brainer.
Personally I'd feel a lot more comfortable doing something we have failed to do for a decade and bring in a competent goalscoring centre forward. As you say, there are questions over King's desire and motivation in the Champ, however misguided that may be, and he's fundamentally a very poor finisher for a striker to boot. If we need him to capitalise on chances, yesterday was the perfect demonstration of why we can't rely on him doing so. Look at this season: Solanke has 24 goals so far and he's nowhere even near the division's top scorer. I have bleated on about this already, but we won't survive relying on one magic button of a winger and a single player reaching double figures this time around; especially when the winger won't be around. I hope whoever takes over is thinking similarly, and that for once in their (recent) lives the Stability make the right decision in supporting them.
Worth remembering that throughout the whole Pozzo reign, the best centre forward during that/this time was the one who was already at the club, regardless of how badly he declined at the end. World class scouting network.
Maybe more so for his leadership at vital moments... Until the end of the 2019/19 season anyway. Then injuries and COVID (tbf it did sound like Deeney was actually quite ill with it) set in.
I just think he was an underrated out ball player . Even if this means a hoofed ball forward that he could fight for and get the team up the pitch.
Oh yes - we have no physical presence up front so when Foster lumps the ball up it's easy for the opposition defence. Sarr just falls over if touched, Dennis battles but loses the ball and Pedro is too lightweight even if he does try his best. At Villa we scored a good goal with Sarr crossing and Dennis heading home but we rarely have seen that.
Sometimes it's about partnerships and Deeney was happy to do the donkey work so the flair players could do their thing . We have too many flair players IMO
I think my point was that we don't have the right balance of players in the squad . Our forwards are mostly "touch" players . We don't have anyone who will fight so the "touch" players can play . However you are absolutely correct . The squad needs major surgery .
