Great news to see Adam played against Arsenal today, so it looks like his recent injury was not as bad as we all feared it was
I know the Arsenal game is still early days, but Masina's passing seems crap as ever. However, on the flip side I really do think he's improved defensively since the early part of last season. Most of Arsenal's most dangerous attacks were down Ngakia's side, and Masina generally seemed solid again.
Out for some time now it seems. Time to step up Fatty Dan... "I think it’s serious because he was already operating these muscles," Ranieri said. "I think I will miss him for a long time."
Jesus christ, this is an end-of-2016/17-level injury crisis, it's absolutely fuccking mental at this point. At least tonight probably represented Danny Roses Tin's best performance of the season so far - we're worryingly close to seeing Leventhal's wet dream writ large as the fabled James Morris starts a game, though.
Leventhal this morning: “Adam Masina’s thigh injury, which Ranieri confirmed is likely to keep him out for “a long time”, was a dent in the armoury but Danny Rose will relish the challenge of replacing him. Reinforcement in the left-back position in January — perhaps once the pursuit of Hibernian’s Josh Doig has been intensified — is now almost guaranteed.”
I believe he's just signed a new contract a couple of weeks ago, may be pricey. Luckily we have Morris.
Whilst I wouldn’t actively want more injuries and Danny Rose is ridiculously out of shape, he’s significantly better than Masina so this is by no means the end of the world. I know popular opinion is he hasn’t been that bad recently, but I watched him a lot against Utd (not on purpose, but because he stood out by his actions) and he’s like a headless chicken at times. He would often run away from the player with the ball, with his back to them into some very bizarre positions. He got away with this against Utd but he often looks like he has no clue what he’s doing. He’s a good athlete but I’m convinced he only has half a brain. Rose is fat, but a lot better.
I like Adam's commitment but his positional sense is terrible. It was clear that the reason the center backs swapped sides was because WTE next to Adam at Leicester was a disaster.
Given the reported haggling over a fee between us and Hibs this past summer, I wonder whether there’s a release clause in his deal?
The usual long ball punt down the field ? https://mobile.twitter.com/MaghribGoals/status/1507381077555527684
James Morris has become something of a joke figure on here, but surely he can't have been any worse than Masina? I don't want to be tooooo critical of Masina, ultimately I think he's simply nowhere near good enough rather than having any attitude problems, but absolutely nobody will be sad to see the back of him
He was fine in the Championship, and as HD mentioned, somehow ended up in the team of the season. Just not PL standard in any way.
Massively improved us last season when he came back from injury (through being an actual able-bodied left-back more than anything), but I felt his inclusion in the TotS was more because they felt they had to get a Watford player in there, Rico Henry was clearly better. He's a decent Championship left-back, but the gap to the Premier League is ginormous and has been growing in recent years
Needs career counselling, to find his true vocation. Has the look and ability of a secondary games master. In the ranking of Watford full backs he is definitely at the Paul Mayo end of the list.
I thought he was regularly quite rubbish in The Championship too. That stupid hands behind his back thing and letting a cross in always winds me up.
The warning signs were there on the opening day, when he did his best to sabotage our chances of a win. Get rid. We simply won’t compete in the Championship with players such as him. We need a new mindset.
The single stupidest thing I can recall from him this season was that brainless side foot hoof straight into the middle of the pitch against Liverpool that lead directly to a goal. I still cannot for the life of me understand what he thought was going to happen.
Wasn't there one in a home game too where he ducked to let the ball sail over his head while defending the Vic Rd End and the opposition scored moments later?
