Not sure Stokes would be the right choice given his mental issues and breaks from the game. Doesn't shout out that he wants more responsibility, esp for this shower...
I'm big fan of Root but only his batting which in fairness is miles better than anybody else's in the side but his captaincy when the West Indies were 8 down was awful. We are bowling against number 8, 10 and 11 in a very poor side and the field is spread far and wide! We are bottom of the test championship and quite rightly so. We are awful right now and I don't see it changing in the near future
He is, isn't he ?! I thought I was the only one who thought that. I have stacks of time for Strauss, plenty of time for Cook, but as you say Vaughan is a Kn0b !
Perhaps unsurprisingly given their general dominance of the tournament Australia beat England in pretty convincing fashion .
We actually put up a good performance and were ahead of the run rate needed for most of our innings, but unfortunately we ran out of support for Nat Sciver who finished on 148 NOT OUT otherwise we might have actually got the runs we needed. Well done ladies a valiant effort.
First day of the County Championship. Chap at the top of the order for Essex did well - got a century . A.Cook. One for the future maybe ?
Anderson bowling for the first time since the Sydney Test and opens with a wide!! Broad decided not to play for Notts for some reason
Nice to see Stokes in early season form. 161 from 88 balls including 17 sixes plus took 34 off one over!
Best wishes to Graham Thorpe. Solid durable batter during an era when the England batting order was notoriously fragile as it is again. Graham Thorpe: Former England player and coach ‘seriously ill’ in hospital (msn.com)
Yes concerning that the story was posted 2 days ago, not details of the issue and no updates to say he has left hospitial or even "is recovering".
I guess the only way is up....isn't it? And Michael Atherton seemed to think Stokes and McCullum would work well together. Let's hope he is right!
Andrew Symonds killed in a car crash aged 46. https://wwos.nine.com.au/cricket/an...-eec9-4ed2-a2c7-d2f034952c52?ocid=Social-WWOS Again no age at all . RIP Remember him as a very explosive and powerful cricketer.
Just so sad. What with him, Warne and Marsh gone and Thorpe ill in hospital, not a great time for cricket.
Another England bowler injured . https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/61468818 Dropping like flies . They will have no option but to bring back Jimmy and Broad !
Guess not - particularly now Broad and Anderson have been re-called. A case of Matthew who? But done well with the Aussies ladies team - can he translate that to our Men's which is pretty useful anyway of course. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/61445433
I don't think we can rely on Archer and wood now. 2 or 3 games and their out Robinson has finally cemented a place as 1st change. Although Potts will play that role in the 1st innings, I hope in the 2nd he gets the chance to open the bowling, even if its for 3 or 4 overs. Someone has to break in and be given the chance in that role.
No certainly not. We might not see either in red ball cricket again. Seems to have fitness issues as well but not sure if he is injured now?
Sorry thought you were talking about the ideal bowling attack vs NZ tests rather than longer term. Obv left out of the NZ squad for "fitness issues" as you say.
