I imagine they'd use the Premier league to pay for the new stadium, accept relegation a la Norwich, but be well placed to come back up with a fab new shiny stadium in place.
The development of Power Court has depended on the development of retail and office space at Newlands Park. Reports suggest a deal has been done with Morgan Stanley but it's not gone through yet. If I was looking at medium term bets, neither retail nor offices are the bankers they once were.
20k v 10k I would say in pretty irrelevant in terms of premier league TV revenue and prize money. And certainly immaterial in terms of the amount of debt Pozzo has run up.
I was only answering your comment about the grounds. Tv money is something completely different and sometimes can be a bit of a noose if not used properly like has been by many a club
Not to detract from the argument about debt (although I note Stoke's owners have restructured/reduced an absolutely enormous debt that was owed to them. £160m) but have you been to Kenilworth Road? I went in the home stand four or five years ago to an Autowindscreens Shield (or whatever it's called now) semi-final they lost to Oxford. I was just curious to see what it was like. It's in terrible condition. Cramped, poor views obscured by posts (even from the main stand), wooden, peeling paint and broken bits. One bit of the stand has seats without backs. It's not just smaller, it's from another era and, in a funny sort of way, all the more interesting for it in terms of a one-off visit. Like visiting the Chamber of Horrors at Madame Tussauds back in the day, I suppose. But as a place to regularly watch football, it's not fit for purpose.
God knows what our fans will do if they get a modern new stadium. Isn’t The Kennel the only thing left we can hold over them?
Would it be permissable to have Luton as your favourite big team and keep Watford as your favourite little team ?
Well original point was FTRE stated that Luton didn’t have “strong foundations”. Given the mess Pozzo and “Scott” have made of our balance sheet I thought that was a pretty ridiculous thing for them to say.
If Luton get promoted they could play their home games at MK Dons until their new ground is built. Then all they need to do is concentrate on the squad. I don’t think we know how well they would do. As well as Sheffield United, Brentford, Barnsley, Bradford? Personally other than seeing their league position I have no idea about the team. Last time I saw them play was at home against Mansfield Town. Since then they have had two promotions and are pushing for a third. That suggests to me they have a vision, strategy and plan that is currently successful.
The best thing that happened to them was Nathan Jones leaving to join Stoke to satisfy his "I deserve a bigger club" ego. Unfortunately he wasn't gone too long. His utter failure at Stoke, and Luton's utter failure under Graeme Jones, means that they are both utterly committed to eachother and have a clear joint strategy and future. The covid delayed season gave them time to get Jones back on board, refocus and save themselves. The restart killed us and saved them, otherwise they'd have been relegated to div 1 and we'd have survived in the prem. Had their defeat of us stopped our promotion last season it really would have been the perfect 12 months for them.
The Lev is getting absolutely slammed in the comments of his latest article for The Athletic - an interview with Aidy on his time as England U-21 manager In fairness, they're right - it is a very odd and pointless puff piece that probes him journalistically in no way, whatsoever, and learns nothing as a result. (That being said, Mr K D. might be straying a tad far into the realms of overwroughtness...)
Yeah, I don't know - it's an odd one, because as a trained journalist we can be fairly sure he was already aware that it was an unquestioning puff piece. I'm not sure if The Athletic do some backroom dealing that allows them some access in exchange for what are essentially PR mouthpiece articles and so they are aware they might engender this kind of reaction, or what. I highly doubt they didn't anticipate these kinds of comments, given what they market themselves as to subscribers, but yet again, who knows.
Rivalry is great. Claiming you feel sick because you’ve read a typed word is just a bit pathetic/childish TBH but no worries it’s a bit of fun if the mods want to auto change the word to something else less hurtful for you .
Bad day? It’s called a joke. I could easily suggest your sarcasm about Mogi Bayat (‘Who is Louza’s agent? Anyone know?’) is pathetic and childish - but it’s easier to just keep quiet and let you have your fun. You should try it!
Great day actually. My Mogi posts are just a way of reminding that we do get some decent players though him as he only seems to get bad press. You have asked for a filter to change the word “Luton” because it makes you feel sick. Or perhaps you were joking ?
Are you genuinely serious? An Italian manager we once had is censored - as is a certain 4-piece UK band. It was clearly a bit of light-hearted fun. Obviously reading the word of a Bedfordshire town doesn’t make me physically ill. And you know that but you’re obviously acting out for some reason. I hope it’s temporary. (I also didn’t ‘ask’ for it to be censored - I enquired as to why it wasn’t as it seems the type of thing that does happen)
Have you not heard their singles ? Can you keep a secret ? The harder they try, the further away it's slipping.
"genuinely" and "literally" ? Clearly this is serious stuff Yeah I've thought about it and it would make sense to auto-correct "that word" to something humorous. They've got to deserve it more than yawnmongers......
