Only problem is that the people running the club don’t believe a coach is important. They believe that spine needs to be players like Cathcart and Cleverley. I doubt we’ll see Quina and TDB come back and be first teamers, so we’re likely to have a 37 year old Kucka stinking up the Champo. Something to be excited about.
I think Roys appointment gives them 3 months to find the right man for a "project" for want of a better word. The last 2 relegations have shown the current model to be hugely flawed. Like the death star having a weakness the Empire didnt bother thinking about. If the Sith had built a 3rd Death Star you like to think they'd not **** it up again. You're probably right about Cleverley and Cathcart, but with luck Okaye, Samir, Sissoko form the main spine and we find that elusive #9 we've missed since Deeney turned ****. Whack some wildly exciting players among that and it'll be fun even if not successful. Oh and we might not even go down! But if we don't they wont change a thing.
We're clearly going to go through another couple of head coaches next season, Gino and Scott won't ever learn. Their head coach selections have been horrendous and nonsensical. If they do happen to stumble across the right man in the summer then he'll still get the sack at the first sign of trouble. That's much easier to do than deal with the underlying problems at the club, all created by them.
Ooh feisty. That’s like asking me for a top five Taylor Swift songs. If Femenia is number 5, he’s just 6th least ****. You know that’s not an argument. He was rubbish defensively and weak mentally when we went down last time, shock same again. Let’s look at starting right backs across England’s top flight in similar teams: Trippier, Ayling, Aarons, Roberts, Coleman, Roerslev, Lamptey & Clyne. Haven’t seen much of the Brentford one, I don’t think Femenia replaces any of the others. He’s arguably the worst right back in the league.
Yes, my point is, being the “fifth best” player in a team with 1 win in 16 means precisely **** all. Foster Cathcart Cleverley Femenia King First five players I’d currently look at replacing in our starting 11.
Still waiting... Also, 5th best means 6th least ****? Do you think we've used 11 players in total this season?
Ignore the question I asked then. Still. As for comparing right backs, you've just seen a season, up close, of Femenia being a better player than Aarons and Roberts. Ayling and Coleman are also pretty poor nowadays.
With Sarr injured and also JP having covid there are literally no other attacking options. But @wfcmoog said that another attacker was definitely not an important signing in January.
Gino should make a call to Red Bull. Think that is the only guaranteed way of turning us into a proper side. Only a matter of time before they add an English team to their roster and we've pretty much sold out to the Udinese/Granada sister thing already so we know the system. It won't happen but I can't see us being PL competitive any other way - if that's what we want.
I'm sure it's harmless enough but I don't really like her point about bringing in players from 'all over' and her reply to Louorns about Samir not speaking English. I don't see how that's a Watford problem as every club does this. It's a quality issue, not where they're from.
That is true and many a good player haven’t spoken the lingo . Some might say English players struggle with it !
Kamara has proven if you're good enough, show some effort and try to connect with the fans then it doesn't matter where you're from.
Jacqui Oatley was the rivers commentator last night - she's oddly underrated as a football broadcasting voice anyway, and she seemed very on-the-money in terms of what our problems are during the game. I agree with you, though - whilst I agree with some, maybe even most of her point, and the isues she diagnoses are all there, they don't come from a new recruit not speaking English well enough - this isn't 1994, and it especially isn't the case when the (questionable) head coach speaks five languages, including one of the new recruit's, himself. It's an odd misstep in an otherwise intelligent argument that encapsulates quite a bit of the fundamentals of our woes, and even in attributing it to the wrong cause, manages to lead herself to the right problems - the disconnect, the revolving door and total lack of necessary stability (but not Stability), etc etc.
Didn’t I already say there’s not much to choose from to build a 5? Dennis Sarr Louza Samir Kamara Sissoko Foster (Teams worse with Bachman than it is with Ngakia) Femenia You can carry this on but I laughed at you saying Femenia is our 5th best player this season, not because it’s wild for you to think that but because it’s hilarious that in 2022, in the Premier League, that should ever be the case. He shouldn’t be any Prem’s team first choice right back, let alone fifth best performer in a season.
Samir/Kamara after 11 appearances (Samir playing well in 50%, Kamara 70%), and Foster?????? You must be pulling my leg! But you're entitled to your opinion. You can change what you meant now, but your comment on the shoutbox was along the lines of 'still think Kiko is top 5 this season?' so just own it man
Yes, we’ve seen what the team was like without a reliable first team centre back. Masina? Need I say more. Both those players improve us. Sarr has started 15 games, 4 more than Samir & Kamara. Foster has probably made two or three match winning saves this season. And I still disagree that he’s a top five player, I also disagree with your original point which was in reply to mine that he’s not high up on the list of worries. Cathcart, Cleverley, Foster & Kiko would be the first four regular starters I would look at replacing as they shouldn’t be starting IMO.
I never said Samir/Kamara haven't improved us. They have, massively (although results don't necessarily back that up, yet). But I do think it's bizarre to have a player in your top 5 for the entire season when they've had a maximum of 7 good performances. Foster has cost us significantly more than he's gained us this season. Femenia has the most assists for any defender outside of the 'Big 6'. He's made a few mistakes, but fewer than any other defender who has been here all season, imo. I also found it interesting that he's only been dribbled past 10 times this season, fewer than Masina, Ngakia and Rose, despite playing much more minutes. Also same as Kamara. I hoped Ngakia would be the natural successor to Femenia after this season as I think Kiko will nosedive once he gets an injury/his legs go, as his game completely relies on his pace. But it looks like he's not ready, so Femenia is as good we've got, and he's doing a decent job in a poor defence. But, I suppose this is getting off topic from the actual theme of the thread.
The only undeniable truth about you is you are the sort of supporter our club can do without!!! If you don't have anything supportive to say about our team but still claim to be a WFC supporter, please just give the rest of us a break from your constant bile about the team you claim to support and just say nothing at all
