The problem with this thread isn’t the language or insults used…it’s that it only includes 2 players when the reality is it should include the overwhelming majority of the squad.

Literally no proof either way whether he is or not. As opposed to the others who are all proven to be complete and utter ****.

    It's a disgrace how little he's played.

I do wish we’d moved on from a lot of our squad, but equally a lot of those brought in have no heart and are prepared to ‘substitute themselves’ when the going gets tough.

Our squad desperately lacks in quality, work rate, leadership and commitment. Some people are kidding themselves that Hodgson is the problem, the truth is the issue is recruitment and the squad we have.

And there's clearly an issue with a deep lying culture at the club. Sure our players are all a bit crap, but they noticeably get crapper whilst they play for us. All of them do. And there's literally no commitment to the cause. We've seen this in several iterations of the squad now, so it's not coach or player specific. It's a malaise surrounding the whole club which seemingly engulfs all players sooner or later.

But whilst Hodgson isn't the problem, he's most definitely not the solution either

Well, well, well, looks like Roy Hodgson agrees with a lot of us. So what’s the excuse now? Cathcart is our best centre back cos he keeps getting picked? We don’t know better than Roy? We’re not in training?

Tired - some players need a rest according to Roy.

So does Hodgson to be honest, and maybe the only silver lining of another defeat this afternoon could be he’s about to get one.

Aaaaaand we win as they're both dropped.

    Coincidence? I think not.

Yet before the match kicked off there were complaints that the selected 11 was rubbish. A joke to replace Cleverley with Kucka and that neither Sierralta or Etebo were involved.

Personally I don’t care who plays if they can as a squad somehow scrape together five more wins this season.

Kuca is not a great player anymore BUT he's better than Cleverley.

Same as Kabasele, he's better than Cathcart (always has been).

Just hope to God we don't see them start again!

Kucka has got time to recover too now after a very good performance and Kabasele just needs to stay fit .

Have to say, my thoughts on today's Cathcart are well-documented enough, but I'm surprised about this view - Kabasele has never proven himself to be anything other than potentially dangerous, whilst Cathcart was a perfectly dependable and solid starting Premier League centre back for multiple seasons, despite his incredibly annoying proclivity for engaging in constant head tennis. It's one of the reasons the way he's fallen off a cliff as an individual at such a relatively early age is so striking, and problems we had with defence at the time were much more about who his partners were than him.

In my opinion, Kabasele is a better player than Cathcart, but he is prone to making catastrophic errors similar to WTE(although WTE makes them even more often than Kabasele), while Cathcart doesn't make those big mistakes but is a worse player.

I agree that he's quite possibly a worse player now, although my wavering on that is mostly based around the miniscule sample size of the player that Kabasele actually is over the past couple of seasons, but in our most successful season, 18/19, Cathcart was clearly our senior and most capable centre back - shown in part by the fact that he played twice as many games as Kabs, which was itself in part because Kabs somehow managed to be kept out of the team on multiple occasions by a 74-year-old Adrian Mariappa.

I think SerbianHornet has summed it up well.

Kabasele is a better player but more prone to major errors that cost a goal. Similar to Titus Bramble if you can remember him? Reads the game much better than Cathcart and his positioning is better, just has lapses in concentration, which if he didn't have he'd have been playing regularly for Belgium & a top European club.

Not the answer in the long term and that's a major annoyance of mine why Cathcart & Kabasele weren't replaced in the summer!!

Lets not forget Josh ‘Andre’ King was also dropped and that made a difference as well…

It's definitely time to think about freshening things up. Get rid of the proven failures and bring in players who have been successful here in the past. Perhaps we should look at only signing players who have previously won the Watford FC Player of the Season award?

Potentially we could have a line up looking like this next season:

    GK: Foster
    RB: Abdi
    CB: Prodl
    CB: Mariappa
    LB: Cleverley
    RM: Sarr
    CM: Doucoure
    CM: Capoue
    LM: Smith
    ST: Deeney
    ST: Graham

    Bring it on!
