https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...yed-Brighton-Southampton-contract-summer.html Being linked with signing this Chelsea youngster in the summer. Although the other clubs mentioned already have a better pedigree with ex-Chelsea youngsters so hard to see why he would choose us.
Maybe he fancies 3 months in our U23s, a loan to CSKA Sofia and then the premature end of his promising career?
It would be strange to not see him tread the Saints way. Apart from the CB the two other lads they got from Chelsea are showing very well for them.
He's predominantly a right-back. The other clubs mentioned are Brighton, Southampton and Norwich. Brighton and Southampton already have two young ex-Chelsea right-backs in Lamptey and Livramento. Simons doesn't seem to be as highly rated as they were. Norwich currently have Aarons, though they might sell him if they get relegated I guess. We might have an opening for a right-back soon, but we've also just signed that Derby kid to Udinese who potentially seems very good and might end up here. The story could also just be lazy journalism or agent talk.
The article claims he's looking for first-team football, but he'd be behind another ex-Chelsea grad who's the same age in Livramento if he went there.
Not sure I'd say 'predominantly'. For their U23's, Chelsea's own website states he has played in midfield, RB and RWB but overall describe him as a 'tough-tackling midfielder;.
Actually having looked again the use of "predominantly" does seem incorrect in that he seems to have played similar-ish amounts at CM as RB/RWB in recent youth team games; albeit his one appearance in Chelsea's first team this season vs Brentford in the Carabao Cup was at RWB.
Where did Udinese say it’s a done deal? I think it was just reported by Di Marzio and there hasn’t been any club announcement.
