The whole Qatar World Cup thing has been ridiculous from the start and this just about tops it. It will be interesting to see how many fans from outside of Qatar go to this. I think there are a few on here who follow England so be interesting to see if they're going
I'm boycotting the Qatar World Cup. I don't intend to watch a single minute of it or read any match reports or other articles about it in the paper. Every World Cup wall chart will go straight in the dustbin. That'll show 'em.
The whole thing is a stain on the game. The thing it’s all very well us normal people saying we’ll boycott it but it won’t make any difference. It needed one or two big federations or even just players to take a stand, but sadly that was never going to happen. Then you’ve got people like David Beckham who work for unicef and then at the same time take £10m to represent the tournament, what hope is there.
Qataris attempting to update the phrase "...then let them eat cake*..." for the 21st century: https://www.dohanews.co/qatar-world-cup-2022-tickets-cheapest-since-1986-tournament/ *Although she probably said "...then let them eat brioche...".
Sadly, I find myself really hoping this is not the tournament that England win. I know that when it comes to it the identity of the host country will be ignored and the team will be lauded if they win but it would be a soured victory to me.
Aren’t these prices actually reasonable in terms of supply and demand? Pretty sure they will appreciate in value nearer the event!
Yes, but ticket availability is something which could be controlled much more fairly if there was the will to do it.
