Me and Mrs Mazz just got interviewed buy a drunk Bristol City fan on the town bridge, complete with him holding up a pretend microphone asking how I felt about the last minute equaliser. Told him I was over the moon.

What pretend show is your interview likely to appear on? Just so I can pretend to watch it.

Is it a very watfordy thing to be happy with a draw against a team in the relegation zone?

I also loved Pedro's celebration. It is exactly how any Watford fan would celebrate scoring a last minute equaliser in front of 50,000 sulky Geordie tw*ts!

It is when we were a couple of minutes away from an agonising defeat against, as you say, a side in the relegation zone.

That was an unpleasent game to endure, and yet there are some positives to go with the usual negatives.

First off, our trio of signings look the part.

Say it quitely, but we actually didn't defend awfully today like other games. Our defence looked more assured with Samir who tooka more pro-active defending approach and looked aware of his surroundings. One hairy moment aside with the late tackle in the box he had a very strong start to his time here. He handled Wood very well today which bodes well. Unlike the others (Bar N'koulou) he didn't have a moment where he switched off I thought.

Kamara I really liked the look of. Very positive going forward and although defensively he wasn't stellar, he wasn't negligent either and at least had some precense there. He's definitely ahead of Masina in the pecking order already.

Finally, Kayembe I thought was the pick of the trio. His movement off the ball made it easier for others to pass the ball and on the ball he looked calm and assured, with a through ball that King should have buried among his best moments today. Pair him with Louza and Sissoko and we suddenly have a midfield that looks the part. (Let's not forget Etebo who looked good before his injury as well)

Ngakia was unfortunate today. Felt overall he shackled ASM which is no mean feat very well in the first half and seemed to have weathered the worst of him only to then carelessly give it away in a dangerous area to one of the best technical wingers in the league who produced an unnering finish. I'd still stick with Ngakia regardless of today I think as he's defensively far more studious and does still carry some attacking threat than Femenia who's defensive ill discipline has cost us this Season when we're looking to be tighter.

Cathcart was very Cathcart. Switched off multiple times defending in the air I thought but did win his fair share of duels as well regardless. We desperately need an upgrade on him but ultimately we could be doing worse than him.

Sissoko had a rare poor game. Ignoring his glaring miss there were a lot of individual mistakes we don't normally see. Whether it was down to playing at an old club or just a bad day, either way so long he picks himself up and moves on, not a world ender.

Kucka was bad. Very bad. I could see the logic for him to help combat the aireal threat Newcastle tried to use but ultimately he hurt us in possession far more than he helped out of it. Cleverley must be starting in his place until Louza is back or we sign another CM.

Dennis I thought had a poor game. It wasn't a lack of trying but Newcastle seemed to shut him down well. Not a lot to say here.

King had a mixed day. I feel his hold up game was actually pretty good with intelligent movement and doing the right things but ultimately his finishing was wayward and lacked an edge we've seen from him. Still, another day and he takes at least one of those chances.

    Pedro. Take a bow.

I wish we’d signed ASM instead of Sarr.

I guess if Newcastle had won the game would’ve not been 2nd last on MOTD?

It would have been 2nd behind the gods of City v Chelsea. Newcastle failing to win is not a story.

But you have to put the result into context. It was important not to lose today as Newcastle would have leapfrogged us and it could have kickstarted their season. They had clearly bookmarked this game as a game they should and had to win in front of their home fans with their new signings. Yet they didn’t. We now have the opportunity to go four points ahead of the drop zone and we have put an end to our run of games without a point.

Just got back from my first away game since the pandemic and buzzing.

Not at the performance of course, we were poor and clearly lacking confidence. But to snatch a last minute equaliser like that when it didn’t seem to really be coming is HUGE. There were limbs flying and hugs from strangers galore. Makes me realise why I do actually love football.

A way to go before we are a team that looks like staying up, but the equaliser feels like a big moment.

Has it? In the games he played poorly and/or cost us a goal (vs Liverpool, Man City and West Ham at home, all top four opponents) we would've been easily beaten whether he was playing well or not at all. I can't think of any games where you could say Kiko has cost us points, unlike Ngakia today or vs Southampton (he may not have been directly at fault for their goal, but he was given the run-around by Walker-Peters which hampered our chances of getting something by making us disjointed in attack). Also I see little evidence of attacking threat from Ngakia - in 30 senior games he is yet to get a goal or assist, Femenia has had three assists and nearly a goal this season and had already scored nine in both La Liga and the Segunda Division at Ngakia's age.

Ngakia is generally only being used when we want a more defensive full back. Femenia was playing as a winger at the same age. He is almost certainly better going forwards, but it seems pointless to compare the stats of the two when they were fulfilling totally different roles.

Ngakia made an awful error of judgement, but before that looked resolute against a very tricky attacker. Kiko has a habit of switching off at least 2-3 a game and just forgetting about his man, then just pushing him over from behind and giving away a needless free kick in attacking position.

I think it would be incredibly harsh to rule Ngakia out of playing again based on today's mistake given the amount of chances Cathcart, WTE, Femenia, Masina have been given over the years for similarly daft mistakes.

Not sure about this personally. Although he can be brilliant, he looks selfish and more inconsistent than Sarr.

Great reaction from Uncle Claudio. He really cares about this. Good stuff.

It's quite simple. Femenia is clearly better going forward. Ngakia is probably already better defensively, despite being much younger.

Femenia won't get any better and Ngakia will.

Once ranieri gets the 3centre back formation up and running femina has to be the wing back as shown today he is better going forward

A point gained yesterday will give the team a huge amount of confidence, with three debutants all having got 90 minutes under their belts, it sets us up for a continuation of the second half and a couple of decent results in the next two games.

Newcastle are a joke of a club really. Fancy having all that money, jumping around with tea towels on your head and then signing boot fair thunderbird puppet Eddie Howe and 30 year old Chris Deadwood.

    Ha ha ha etc.
