https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tra..._id=alle&altersklasse=alle&land_id=0&yt0=Show List of keepers that contracts expire in the summer. Onana has signed for someone already. Wouldn’t Ospina be classed as homegrown? Johnstone liked with west ham but not seen anything concrete, thought have a good relationship with WBA to see if he would come.
Mattia Perrin would be a good shout. Juve’s number two. Stefan Ortega at Arminia Bielefeld a v good keeper who is also out of contract but he starts for them so (like Johnstone) might be difficult to get our hands on him.
I read an article that said he was dropped from the squad on Monday as there was uncertainty around his future. Seems like he was ill, and Ragnick doesn’t want to get rid after all. 150k is bonkers. He's had half a season in United's first team. How on earth is he on that much? No wonder their team is struggling so much. A drunk 48 year old Roberto Carlos has to be better than Masina, surely? Sign him up.
He'd genuinely be better at set pieces than anyone in our squad - we could test the theory of the worth of a solely deadball luxury player to its absolute limit. Doubt he's in worse shape than Rose...
Think when he came back from Sheff United he didn’t have long left on his deal - De Gea was in awful form and he was likely told he’d be given equal billing in the fight to be No.1 and given a huge pay rise to mirror that promise. Hasn’t worked out and now he needs a move but is on huge wages. Apparently Rangnick said he wouldn’t let him go but also made it clear he’s backup. He was promised a start in the FA Cup game but found out on Sunday that Rangnick had gone back on the agreement so stormed out of the training ground. That’s the rumour anyway!
Weird messaging - openly saying he wants him to stay, but also strongly hanging out the 'understand he wants to be a No.1 elsewhere' line multiple times - what relevance does him 'understanding' it have, unless it's driving their policy? I doubt anyone would say they don't understand a desire for a player to play. Is this really aimed at clubs coming in to prepare suitable offers/guarantee a first-choice spot if they want him?
I wonder if it’s a ‘I’d like to keep him - but he wants to go and the club have told me that they will only let him go if his wages are covered etc etc and we can get a replacement.’ They have Heaton so wouldn’t really need a big name 3rd choice to come in. Ping them a bid offering Foster or Bachmann and see what comes back….
You can’t blame Utd for insisting he stay, they’re a supposed top club and they they need a decent back up keeper. It could actively harm them to loan Henderson out and remove DeGea’s competition. As much as I’d love to sign him, players like Henderson need to take responsibly for their actions, he was happy to accept a bumper contract but always knew he’d have DeGea as competition, if he wanted guaranteed first team football he should’ve looked elsewhere before committing himself to Utd.
Linked with Ludovic Blas of Nantes. He’s actually very good. Mogi is very involved at Nantes so suspect we would be well placed to conclude a deal if we stump up the money but if Newcastle are actually in for him I suspect we’ll be blown out the water. https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/exclusive-ludovic-blas-newcastle-watford-25947346
Yes. But Mogi calls all the shots at Nantes (much more than with us). I guess we’ll see but I suspect Newcastle’s cash will be enough for them to get it done if they’re actually interested enough.
Considering how many favours we've done for Mogi, surely he can do some for us - including refusing to sell a good player to Newcastle while we're in our current situation.
Maybe. If I had to guess we buy Mogi’s dross in part to get first dibs on players like Blas but that doesn’t mean Nantes will accept a significantly lower fee for him because it’s from us or that the player will opt for lower wages.
Sure, but if it comes down to that he can at least perhaps make any transfer get pushed back until the summer.
Need to get our deals with Mogi done ASAP as he is now being prosecuted for fraud and bribery. https://sporza.be/nl/2022/01/14/bij...t-parket-voor-de-rechtbank-wil~1642169259047/
This is kind of the ultimate test for our relationship with the Mogal, tbh - has all the dross we've bunged him millions for over the years bought the influence it is supposed to, or does other people's money still talk louder even at the club that is his own personal fiefdom? The truth will eventually be undeniable.
Colour me fu*king shocked. We are sailing so close to the bloody wind being associated with him in any way whatsoever. It’s crazy really.
This been rumbling on for a while and I think everyone has known Mogi and his brother are dodgy as ****, but the scale of this is pretty astonishing.
I was hoping we'd have done more business by now, ahead of the three games we've got coming up. Still a centre back, a goalkeeper and maybe a winger short, in my opinion. Need to get a move on.
No defensive midfielder?! Nath, the rest of the BWO don’t want to have to remind you of your responsibilities. First the 5Live embarrassment and now this. Get working on a written reply - must not include the word ‘Kayembe’.
Personally I'm happy enough for Etebo to come back in. He may not quite be an out and out defensive midfielder, but I thought he mostly did well sitting a little deeper and breaking up play. A three of Etebo, Sissoko and Louza could be quite nicely balanced. Kayembe is ****, clearly 43 not 23, and I hate him with a passion already.
If Etebo will be back in full training in 2-3 weeks, he should be available for our game at West Ham on Feb 8th.
He'll have a good view from the bench as Kayembe makes Declan Rice look like a National League South player.
