If Kayembe isn't any better than Kucka then he'll have been a useless signing. Assuming he somehow isn't as bad, I'll be hoping for a lineup tomorrow of:

    Foster

    Kamara
    Samir
    Sierralta
    Femenia

    Sissoko
    Kayembe
    Cleverley

    JP
    King
    Dennis

“I have a lot of experience and I say we will be safe," he said. "It’s unbelievable our position. Unbelievable. My experience tells me we are a very good team and I can’t believe where we are.

"My experience is important. If I tell you you're a good player, you must believe me. Now, maybe some people say Watford is not good, I tell you Watford is a very good squad.

"I believe in my players, I believe in this squad, sooner or later also the pitch will tell me, Claudio you are right."

A rallying call from the boss. There were two guys in white jackets flanking him when he said this, but I don't think that was significant.

I think that formation will work better for us given the fact that we struggle defensively and our midfielders usually struggle to control a game especially when we are a goal ahead. That formation gives us more players to help defensively and more players in the midfield which means when we want to attack, it's easier for our defenders to get the ball to our midfielders. And we have a top player in Dennis in the attack (who if we manage to create ONLY three or four clear cut chances for in the whole of 90 minutes, will convert one or two of those chances) partnered with King. Without that formation, I don't think Brentford will survive in this league, because from my point of view, there defenders and midfielders are as average as ours, but that formation seem to get the best out of there average squad.

Though it's probably self-evident given it's late Friday morning, but Howe has confirmed there will be no new additions for them before tomorrow's game.

    Where to start?

Firstly do I gamble on our match being 'Game of the Day' on Sky? If so I could avoid the scores and watch it as if live at 8.30 - I mean for a game like this that's some doing, but obviously you get more out of watching than listening to it (or in some cases you really really don't). If I have their criteria correct it's us, Norwich / Everton or Wolves / Southampton. I think based on the game we'd be front runners if our game produces a few goals to back up that decision.

I fear Claudio will try and set us up not to concede, rather than the high pressing attacking style he had us playing in his first 6/7 games. Our current shaky defence plus new signings making debuts doesn't sound like a recipe for that first elusive clean sheet to me. Let's keep them at arms length and engage them higher up the pitch and work to our strengths. The 'Toon Army' won't accept going behind to tin pot Watford and with our tails up and their fans getting more and more disgruntled I think we could have a field day and take the 3 points.

Or, we choose to sit back, allow them the possession, the crowd get more and more enthusiastic until the inevitable moment Trippier delivers an inch perfect one onto new superhero Woods head. Random subs thrown in over a 30 minute period and at probably 2-0 down we end the game in a 3-2-5 formation looking back and wondering how we didn't score against a defence as bad as our own.

Foster, Kiko Sieralta Samir Kamara, Sissoko Cleverly, Pedro, Cucho King (middle) Dennis.

    Attack, attack, attack attack attack!

Our problem is not scoring, so all I can see is us sitting in our supposed shape and hitting them on the break. 3-5-2 attacking 5-3-2 defending. Our current setup isn't working and let's be honest they should of murdered us last time out. It's a game we cannot afford to lose. If Kamara and Kiko/Ngakia play wing backs we have enough pace to trouble them. King and Dennis I would like to see play close to each other because they have enough to win it on their own.

We are not great, but neither are Newcastle; with all of their money, they have brought in Trippier, a decent player to be fair and Woods, who is on the decline and has scored three goals in the league this season. That is hardly a significant improvement. They are still going to be **** (hopefully). We mustn't go down early in this one; if we score first, I can see their ***** fans getting on their backs. Someone needs to go through hard and fair on Allan Saint-Maximin early on.

I wonder whether that Morris lad might start again at LB if they decide not to plunge Kamara in at the deep end, sink or swim, for his first game in English football.

I've got no concerns if Morris does start. He looked keen to impress last week and I liked his crossing ability - although he did seem to run out of steam quite quickly.

I'd bring Kamara on after 60 or 65 mins to shore things up when we're 3 or 4 nil down and the pressure's off.

I think Kamara has to start. While Morris did ok, Kamara was in Ligue 1 team of the season. And whilst Kamara isn't experienced in English football, neither is Morris. And Kamara has a lot more first team football in his legs.

Have Newcastle signed Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich? No, they've brought in Chris bloody Woods from Burnley! When he falls over his feet in front of an open goal the Geordies will give him dog's abuse! This will be our first clean sheet of the season.

Those comments from Claudio aren’t very reassuring, last time we went down the club also spent 80% of the season under the impression that we had too much quality and would turn it around eventually

Nerves are starting to kick in a bit now.

Samir, Kamara & Kayembe have to start. No bedding in period, they have to hit the ground running.

If there's the slightest chance the YouTuber is fit, he has to start over Sh*tmann.

    Foster
    Ngakia
    Sierralta
    Samir
    Kamara
    Kayembe
    Cleverley
    Sissoko
    Dennis
    JP
    King

JP to start as the centre forward with King & Dennis out wide. As people have said previously, got to attack and take the game to them. On the front foot as we were against Man Utd and Chelsea, no sitting back and waiting, press them high up the pitch and get the first goal!

I see the club have tweeted video of the last time we won at Sports Direct Park. King Marco getting a sexy football tune out of a side containing losers like Mariappa, Kabasele, Zeegelaar, Kiko, Cleverley, ‘Will Hughes’ and Andre Gray.

    No wonder he wanted out.

I really, really hope that the new players, the time on the training pitch for defenders like Sierralta, and the sheer necessity (coupled with Callum Wilson still being out injured, mercifully) mean we will manage to get our fuccking act in gear and get a season-turning victory.

However, if that doesn't happen, and we go 1-0 down to a crashing bazooka of a bullet header from star-signing Chris Wood after a valiant first half effort to contain the Geordie/Saudi Orthrus, I predict that we will have nothing to respond and immediately start playing the game as through treacle, until the 75th minute plus, when they have brought three defensive subs on and we are playing five in attack and we actually manage double-figure possession in the opposition half.

At which point, at the game's conclusion, dribblers will laud the team's 'attacking intent' and celebrate how we 'improved in the second half' as a great harbinger for the ensuing fixtures.

Is Samir able to start ? If not the general feeling is that our CDs are crap or broken or both, and with 5-3-2 we'd have to play 3 of them not even having access to WTE.

Yes they are but we're shipping goals at an alarming rate. Samir, FS and Cathcart with Kamara and Kiko/Ngakia as the five with Kucka, Sissoko and Kayembe as a three gives a more solid look imo. The wing backs are going to have to join in the attack when they can. But as I said King and Dennis as a two working off each other can win it on their own. We need to keep it solid and tight and we can get our first clean sheet of this Premier season. It's not going to be pretty but it's not about that now it's being strong, solid and getting points that's it.

    Good question.!
I was going to say 352 for this game, get a good grip on midfield, but whereas Kamara might be OK as WB I'm not sure Femenia will get back when needed.?
With 532 and FBs playing cautious we defend our flanks better but will have less options up the wings.
I'm plumping for a 451 type of formation hoping that Dennis/Cucho can play the flanks and combine with King, and then Sissoko/Kayembe/cleverly battling for central midfield...
We've got to start getting more grip on centre midfield areas.!
