Udinese are set to sign Pablo Marí on loan from Arsenal, deal almost done. Final details to be agreed then Pablo will arrive in Italy. ⚪️ #AFC Also Filip Benkovic will join Udinese this week - agreement reached, he leaves Leicester on free transfer. #LCFC Both could potentially be better than Samir and are most definitely better than Troost-Ekong, Cathcart and Kabasele. Lucky Udinese.
What has it been about Benkovic’s performances in the last three years that make you think he is better that WTE, Cathcart or Kabasele? He might come good but he has had 6 starts at Bristol City, 0 appearances for Leuven, 71 mins for Cardiff and 2 PL2 starts on the last three years. All three of ours have clearly outperformed him over this period. Edit: mightily impressive stint at Leuven; the side didn’t concede a goal when he featured for them!
At least it's a punt for Udinese rather than us this time. If they turn out to be any good, we'll pinch them in a future window, if we are still in the prem of course !
Big shout - but Yusef Demir has had his Barcelona loan cut short so that they don’t have to pay the agreed £8m fee. Extremely talented and can play CAM, RW and up front. If we could agree a deal under the same parameters, it would be exciting.
Surely there’s some space on the spectrum of clubs he could play for between Barcelona and Watford? Can’t knock the ambition though. He was class for me on FM.
Well, yes. You’d imagine any number of Bundesliga clubs would likely be involved. But Tzolis (who was highly rated before Norwich got hold of him) was also in this kind of spectrum and arrived here. Not saying we’d get him or he’d pick us. But it’s the type of deal I’d really like us to be enquiring about.
Yes I have thought this too. Would probably also be willing to be the linchpin of the side in the Championship should we go down and has more quality in possession than anyone we’ve got (aside from JP potentially). Young enough that he wouldn’t count towards the squad reg rules either. Edit: seems he’s extended his contract at Rapid Wien and is set to stay there. Alas.
Leventhal just said on the FTRE live that there is some interest there in Dean Henderson and it's not just out of thin air #WelcomeDean(to one of our rivals)
Would make sense for all parties. He’ll also get a lot more opportunities to impress going to a struggling PL team than a team with a better defence.
Apart from our bank balance when you realise Henderson is on 150k - also I swear Rangnick said there was no chance he’s letting him go? That’s the negatives out the way. Positives? GET. IT. DONE. (Would also clearly show there’s money there…)
on the club Instagram page I haven’t seen Bachmann in any of the videos the past few days, could be he on his way out?
That would be roughly £3m in wages, would be well worth it IMO and I’m sure we’ll waste way more than that on tat anyway.
Don’t disagree whatsoever. Just know it’s extremely unlikely that those who do have the power do disagree.
Would make sense for us, it's a loan keeper for the rest of the season until the other matey comes in (don't know his name, the Nigerian fella) and it's game time for Henderson. As Burnsy said, his wages are very high, so hopefully United will subsidise some of that. Worth it.
It got less interesting/insightful/different in any way as it went on and increasing dribblers were invited to ask their questions (excusing our very own Lou, of course...) culminating in the WTE behaviour wetter. The first guy came on and basically made every point you would want to to Leventhal and Rookery Mike, about the summer transfer business and how poor it was, how Rose was an insane decision, etc etc, and Leventhal semi-refuted it in exactly the way you would expect him to (massive both sides-ism) though I have to give him some credit that he was nowhere near his most COG delusional state - he accepted now/in hindsight that the defensive recruitment this summer was terrible, for example, which is better than saying it's a masterstroke to leave the squad list unfilled to be able to pick up free agents if desired. He did also say it's hard to build a whole new team in a summer window, though, so he was not fully adrift either, to be sure. From there it just went back and forth like a session on here, really, with all the topics that are currently hovering around the top of the main page brought up, basically - no more privileged information other than what came from the one guy asking a question about Dean Henderson. They did each weigh in on this afternoon's hot-button topic, though, of what will happen to Ranieri if this week goes badly. The definitive agreement between the two, as summed up succinctly by Mike, was that if he loses 10 in a row, which three more losses would be, he will of course be out. Leventhal skirted definitive action a bit more, but both verbally agree with Mike saying that, and also talked a bit more broadly about bad results in conjunction with the previous run of 7 losses in a row - so, not necessarily as insane a scenario as three straight losses being required to bring Papa Clau's position into question.
Ive heard the Nigerian keeper is sh!te so if we can get Henderson permanently this month that would be ideal.
Burnley linked with Andy Carroll tonight. Imagining the meltdown right now over on bfcforums or whatever their equivalent is. Some GKs we should go for on loan: Dean Henderson Alex Meret Alphonse Areola Neto/Inaki Pena at Barca Strakosha Dragowski (Fiorentina) Wuilker Farinez (Lens) All (with the exception of Neto) fairly young and not the number one at their club. All improvements on Foster/Bachmann.
I'm sad too mate, but it was inevitable the big boys would be sniffing around at some point. Hopefully we haven't been stupid enough to put a low release clause in his contract. Would be gutted to a Chris Wood type fee.
