Yep. Doesn't exactly strike me as a ready made Premier League player. Hopefully this is one of the 5% of signings Pozzo gets right.
There won't have been much scouting in it, at least not in comparison with other players. They will have phoned Mogi Bayat and said "any of your players on the move this January"? The "best scouting network in the world" is ineffective if you are only interested in giving business to one bloke.
He really reminds me of that random bloke BBC News accidentally put on TV just because he was nearby and they thought he was the booked guest.
Sounds pretty similar to the Pozzos' transfer strategy. Kayembe could also look just as clueless as that bloke did while being interviewed when he gets thrown on to the pitch in the PL.
Assuming this fee of £4m is correct, looking at the net transfer spend on the first team this season, Pozzo has used about 90% of it on 2 Mogi Bayat clients. Obviously have to factor in signing on fees for King and Rose (lol) but still.
I've asked this question on here before, but have not seen a reply from anyone as yet: - What is the deal with this guy Mogi Bayat and why are people on here always slagging him off? Genuine question.
I'm not slagging him off as an individual. I'm concerned with the fact we put such a large volume of transfer business his way when we could be looking at other alternatives. Looking at some of the historical transfers I think the relationship between Pozzo and Bayat means we miss out on superior alternatives. That's my concern for Watford. You can google him to see other football related issues he has been caught up in, although I don't think he's ever been found culpable as far as I know.
More than one intermediary can be involved in a deal. His agent might well be Gilberto Tavares, but that doesnt mean that Mogi didn't help broker a deal with Brugge and / or Watford. If Mogi acted for him on his previous transfer, I don't think it is a huge leap to imagine he was also involved in the transfer to us given Mogi has his mitts on half the deals we do.
Belgian agent. Gino uses him a lot one way or another. We seem to sign a disproportionate amount of players he directly represents. A lot have turned out to be bobbins. He’s also been nicked in Belgium on allegations of a money laundering etc: https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/7489276/belgium-scandal-agent-mogi-bayat-everton/
Is it too much to ask that you type his name into google? Half of the returns are about the numerous criminal investigations he is currently the subject of.
It is awesome we are doing business early in the window,I just hope they all come good or are at the very least upgrades.
Given Bayat has been implicated in more than one large fraud scandal in his time involved in football, wouldn’t be out of the question to slag him off as an individual either really. It’s sleazy and something I’m still massively uneasy about. I really do fear (perhaps without foundation) that our numerous links to him will come back to haunt us one day. I’ve always been fairly astounded that Watford fans in their numbers seem to be passive about it and okay to wave it through (I do accept there’s little we could do about it anyway though)
I was only asking why so many on here seemed to have a downer on this guy? It obviously must be my bad as I thought that football forums were about chatting to others mainly about football related subjects and exchanging each others knowledge and views with them
Im more than happy to talk about the impact of Mogi on Watford FC or other football matters. My point is just that the allegations against him have been well ventilated on here and it takes you far less time to just google his name than it does for someone else to type out all the allegations (especially with a rap sheet like his).
My perception of Mogi Bayat is we often seemingly buy absolute crap from him so we’re in line for some of the better players, correct me if I’m wrong in that?
c&p from reddit's fantasy football forum (explaining the talk of 4.5 and him not being picked ahead of Sarr for FF), providing a bit more info on him: "Quick Summary from a Eupen fan who's watched every game this season : Eupen are a 2nd division team really but they were top of the belgian first division for a long while at the start of this season and it was largely thanks to him Cos of injury, covid and international duty he hasnt played in a good few weeks and his absence was very apparent. More of a box to box dont know why people say hes a cdm, he was always the most attacking of Eupens midfield 3, he scored a couple of cracking goals and was always involved in the build up to every goal they scored. A promising player for sure but still no reason to pick him over say Sarr when he returns from injury. The only thing is if fpl wrongly identify him as a cdm and he gets 4.5 then could be worth keeping an eye on. One thing he will do is run non stop for 90+ minutes every game so I dont know much about Watfords midfield but if they dont have all the midfield slots nailed then I can definitely seeing him securing a spot. TLDR : chance creating box to box, misidentified as a cdm by many, if 4.5 then a very solid bench option, anything more and I cant see it being worth it, it is still Watford."
