Hadrien Grenier @hadrien_grenier Layvin Kurzawa a été proposé * Watford par ses agents, qui continuent de chercher un point de chute pour le joueur du PSG. @Santi_J_FM Translated from French by Layvin Kurzawa has been offered to Watford by his agents, who continue to seek a base for the PSG player. @Santi_J_FM An odd player to be linked with, but the guy who posted is a blue tick journo with over 115k followers!! PSG paid £22m for him, but that was 7 years ago. Been with them ever since. Played 13 times for France.
I’d heard we were interested a few weeks back so this could just be something hitting the press later and we opted for Kamara instead.
Would be a very, very strange choice of player to bring in if it's to be a left winger. Barely played there at all in his career.
I think he’d actually be quite cheap in terms of fee - but not in wages unless PSG helped out. Heard of our interest a few weeks ago and messaged a few people on here - @LeedsOrn etc - but I think this is likely something that was enquired about weeks ago before Kamara deal was done. Really doubt there’s much in it now unless we are binning Masina off to Udinese or something. And even then, you’d imagine it would put Kamara’s nose out of joint already!
Honestly, clubs in our position should look at the third choice player at the super-massive clubs like Bayern, PSG, etc. all the time. Many of them are talented, just clogged behind players that those clubs paid massive amounts for. Quite possible to pick up some bargains on class talent.
The problem with that tactic is that the player will most likely be on £100k+ pw and expect it to be matched.
'Contacts have intensified' - Watford 'seem to have full intention' of signing player, have 'come forward' - Sport Witness Apparently talks are advancing - ‘contacts have intensified’, and Claudio Ranieri’s side ‘seem to have the full intention of bringing the footballer to the Premier League’ before the end of the month. I just don't see where there is a position for him, although he's certainly a quality player. Does that mean both Masina and Rose are going? Or would we play Kurzawa at CB? I really don't see how this story could be true, but maybe we'll sign him and give him to Udinese. Who knows.
Yep, that's a good shout. He is part Italian after all so would make sense. But I still can't see us signing TWO first team left backs in this window,
Kurzawa would play if we get him - Two decent LB’s battling it out…that’s good depth. And both possibly have the ability to play LW also maybe? If he came, I think it might mean Masina going to Udinese/Italy.
More likely Kurzawa at LW - he's played there 20 times in his career, CB only 2 times. He is very attacking as far as full-backs go - 4 years ago he even scored a hat-trick from LB for PSG in the Champion's League vs Anderlecht - so it wouldn't be that huge of a leap for him or much different from us playing Sema there. Maxwell Cornet played mostly as an attacking left-back for Lyon last season, but has been tearing it up for Burnley as a left-winger in this one.
All over Twitter? I just looked and there seems to be as many people linking us as there is Lyon. Plus the reports say there’s actually been contact between us and his camp - yet Lyon are only considering him if they let Emerson go back to Chelsea (which they seem very loath to do). For what it’s worth, and some may say that’s nothing! - but to the best of my knowledge, there has been definite interest in Kurzawa in the recent past and I mentioned that to a couple of people privately before this was reported in the media. What I don’t know is if that interest was before we got Kamara and is just lazy rehashing of a former story - or if we genuinely wanted both.
Masina off to Udinese and us signing Kurzawa would be excellent business. Considerably better than Masina.
Well ok, I just typed his surname in and clicked latest and all the current French reports were about Lyon. “ All over Twitter” was an exaggeration. Sports Witness have never been the most reliable of sources though
Sports Witness aren't a source, they release articles based on news from other sources. In that article they've used calciomercato.com. https://m.calciomercato.com/news/lazio-si-allontana-kurzawa-c-e-il-watford-sul-terzino-del-psg-63046
Has scored a CL hat trick and also had a 6 match ban for a brawl. Absolute winner by the looks of it. Will hate it here.
