Call it off ! Saves us losing 5-0. https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/...s-australia-scramble-for-replacements-1294893
Obviously named after our average Test innings total. Link the Test arena to the new ‘popularity’ format.
Correct. Only suits English conditions. I'm guessing Robinson is just being rested or is injured rather than dropped?
In other news, Bangladesh have beaten the Test champions away from home: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/59876079
Ben Stokes is literally bowling with no slips in place and the field is set like the 20th over in a 20/20 game! Strip this clown of the captaincy now!!!
We certainly are made to pay for basic errors. Khawaja another Aussie who has come in and taken his chances having been dropped by Root in his 20s Broad probably proving a point to the selectors with 5 wickets.
After 2 days cricket, big questions remain. Will Aus enforce the follow on ? If not, will England make Aus bat again. Exciting stuff.
Have England scored a century on this ashes tour? Also is Joe Root our best spinner so far on this tour, as he always seems to take wickets when he bowls which is more than we can say about our so called specialist spinners
Yes Root > Leach. No centuries I believe. Crawley out for a duck but reprieved by a v close no ball decision.
Watched quite a lot of this due to the jetlag. Nice that BT have moved to their own commentary team now, but it’s even more hilarious how much they mock England. We truly are a cricketing laughing stock. Part time bowlers, little boy lost looking even more lost, ‘can the openers survive 5 overs?’, a truly awful Australia team made to look like world beaters. A failed rotation system that was a disaster in the summer still being used now. Broad and Jimmy know that this team is *****. What a shame for them. They deserve more than this.
I hate you, Buttler!!! Pathetic yet again. Fair play to Bairstow and Stokes, both of them injured and both showing the rest of our sh*t show how to bat aggressively with control.
Maybe we should have our batsmen being injured more often - they seem to thrive and bee more profitable!
Counting “drops” and “bowled by a no ball”, I believe the openers could have been out 5 times for their total of 24 runs. We could not have worse opening batsmen.
Great knock by Bairstow. Have been calling for his selection for about 18 months now! Criminal he’s been out of the side so consistently. One of the few that can dig in and fight with some control and skill.
Agree entirely, He doesn’t always succeed, but, like Stokes, at least he shows some ******* fight. Those two should be the first names on the team sheet.
Exactly my thoughts Bubble, why is it the players that show real ******** that are the ones who are regularly left out of the side? Not only Bairstow but Stewart Broad too as he always gives 110% just like Bairstow. So far in this match those two have been our best performers yet time and again they are the players that are dropped from the team, why? I can only assume it is a cricketing purist thing, and that they don't quite fit into the cricketing old boys club and are a bit to rough around the edges for the purists. Cricket is no longer a game for "Officers and Gentlemen Only" yet you could be forgiven for believing the "powers that be" in cricket still think it is Getting on to today! Yet again we start in a pathetic and humiliating way!!! Then bring on Ben Stokes and "Billy Big ********" Johnny Bairstow not forgetting Wood, and at last we show some "True Grit". Can you believe that Bairstow's century is THE FIRST for England on this tour and not wanting to put the mockers on it I truly hope he goes on to at least double it!!! However even if he does do that it is very unlikely to win us the match, but at least he will have brought a modicum of pride back to the nation, not that he hasn't already. So come on the rest of you guys, show some guts like Bairstow, Stokes, Broad and Wood and at least stop the rot!!!
It just goes to show how far we’ve dropped when a hundred partnership, scraping past the follow on target and a player finally getting a century in the 4th test of a series is viewed as something to celebrate. I see Root slinked off a beaten man with his laughable waft at the ball. I guess he’s hoping someone else can save his bacon yet again.
Exactly. Not on here but elsewhere this morning you'd think we were right in the match and sticking it to the Aussies big style. Reality is we're still a squillion runs behind with time in the game and Australia could put us back in at lunch on Day 5 (though obviously won't wait that long) and would still have good reason to feel very confident of skittling us out to win the test.
