The most frustrating part is that he looks like a decent player for our level, if he only lost 2 stone and did his job with something approaching professionalism. There's clearly something very wrong with him that after half a season at a club of our stature, he is still too fat to establish himself as first choice left back, above Massina.
His career is over, that's what it is. He hasn't been able to rouse himself enough to remain even fit to the level of a player like Deeney (so, not fit) for the past three seasons, when it would be the easiest thing in the world to do so and he has an entire team of people who are paid to ensure he is. He's utterly finished.
There are times in our history where we've had a Colin Foster shaped hole to fill. This isn't that time.
He's got a surprisingly low red card tally over the course of his career - in 16 seasons, he's only received 5 red cards, 4 of which were straight reds. I would have expected him to be a bit of a card monster, but apparently not.
Nobody will ever fulfill that role again for us quite like the mighty Holebas. Passion, fire and pretty hotheaded, but he certainly cared. Something I wish our current back line did more than once in a blue moon.
When Scott claimed him and Gino had learnt from their mistakes, I think what he meant was that in future they would make the same mistakes but without spending any money. Why spunk millions on players like Kabasele and Masina when you can pick up players of similar ability (ie half way between champo and prem) for free!?!?!?
It actually is the time. Our defence was full of clowns like Keith Dublin, Lavin, Soloman, Ashby. We needed an old pro to fit in and improve us from game 1.
3 years ago I'd have agreed with you, but a new old pro, will become the next past it pro on a 5 year deal we are lamenting and needing to strengthen alongside.
Interesting article posted at 12:46 here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/watford. Reflects what surely all of us are hoping for this window. Although I'm a bit dismayed with this bit (not because I'm particularly keen on keeping any of them on, but because getting rid of the last three will be an embarrassing admission of failure on the board's part): "With the new arrivals there will have to be a cull of the current 25-man squad. Candidates to be chopped are Dan Gosling, Ashley Fletcher, Ozan Tufan and Rose."
Tbh I'd love to see Rose chopped - he can absolutely fucck right off. It's insane how unprofessional and by extension disrespectful he has been - treated us like absolute mugs. Embarrassing enough that we've let him, and the only way to salvage any pride in that situation is to confront it at this point.
I don't believe he's claiming to be, nor does he have any history at all of reporting news or scoops for us (as far as I am aware) - I think he's just been asked to round up the situation for a theoretical neutral this window, which he has done ably.
I heard Donald Trump stole it and used it on the Mexicans………..what do you mean he’s no longer President?
Just read an article on a website called "1SPORTS1" They suggest that WFC should try and sign these six players: - Dean Henderson; Luca Digne; Nat Phillips; Harry Winks; Eddie Nketiah and low and behold Hassane Kamara. Well one out of six aint bad I suppose, but as for the rest I think we all know that all of them a VERY UNLIKELY to happen, unless we can dream of a possible loan deal especially for the likes of Henderson or Eddie Nketiah, now that would be very nice in our dreams.
I would not normally speculate that a player like Christian Eriksen would even consider joining WFC, but he really wants to get into a team where is likely to play regularly so that he can get back into consideration for the Danish team in the world cup later this year. However with his current medical situation would there be that many PL teams or otherwise willing to take a punt on him? Therefore he might just consider coming to WFC if we were willing to take that punt and give him the chance to prove he is fit enough to continue playing at the highest level. I believe he is currently a free agent because of the regulations in Italy regarding the artificial device implanted in him to help regulate his heart. However he claims that he feels as fit as he ever was, but there must always be an element of doubt whether that is totally true. This leads me to believe we could possibly get him on the cheap, and we all know how much The Pozzo's love a bargain! So maybe, just maybe, this could possibly be a punt that Gino might be willing to take, and in turn it might just be a punt that Eriksen's is also willing to take in order to fuel his ambitions of getting back into the Danish world cup team. Just a thought!
A lot of those won’t be cheap in terms of wages but maybe could get some on loan but we don’t go down that route really now - and how many are you allowed ?
I think it’s a somewhat of given that you would get a player who has had a heart attack on the pitch and has to wear an implantable cardioverter defibrillator ‘on the cheap’.
