We are supposedly interested in him according to Italian media.

29yr old Gambian left-sided CB who played under Ranieri at Sampdoria.

Have Gambia qualified for AFCON I hear you ask? Of course they have.

He’s only played 24 times for his country since 2012 though so perhaps wouldn’t be going to AFCON…but he has been in 5 of their last 6 squads so you’d imagine he will be.

This wouldn’t be a baaaaaa-d signing, rumour seems a bit woolly though.

I remember you mentioned about Duarte and Núñez, are we still looking at them?

Fits the pozzo model perfectly. Either sign a player we don't need or a player we do need but won't be available

I've heard nuggets from Italy about Faouzi Ghoulam. Could well be true because they're trying to pay up his contract. Had a few injury problems this year but is a beast of a left back on his day. Excellent delivery from set pieces and an insanely long throw.

Ageing, played less than 40 games in 4 seasons and has never been the same since rupturing his Cruciate Ligament.

Hasn’t played for Algeria since 2017 though so he’d be the only African we have who would be staying at the club in January.

Add to that his attitude problems and it's a win win
Maybe a change of scenery would do him good.

This would be a decent signing which means it won't happen. End of.

Napoli don’t think he’ll be fit properly until March and are thinking about terminating his contract, which means there’s every chance this happens

Strange name, he's Gambian but it sounds half Arabic and half Irish.

Well The Gambia is predominantly Muslim, so that explains the name Omar, as for his surname, I don't know where it's from, but there are quite a few players of Gambian descent with decidedly in-African sounding names, such as John Carew, Joe Gomez and our very own Josh King

In all seriousness, it would be nice if for once we could get a centre back the right side of 25, a player we can develop into someone really good and/or make a healthy profit on, or least someone who won’t get noticeably worse in a few years (see Britos, Prodl, Cathcart) but it seems young CBs of real PL class are a rare commodity, if this list is anything to go by (the first thing that came up when I googled best centre backs in Premier League): https://www.101greatgoals.com/news/top-10-centre-backs-in-the-premier-league-2021-22/amp/

Konate, White and Dias all play for big six clubs and Fofana for Leicester, a middling club but decidedly above us in stature. Still, as long as he’s good enough to keep us up and hopefully Sierralta will become a regular again sooner rather than later and prove an exception to the rule…

Never heard of him but clearly a player Ranieri has identified seeming as he played under him at Sampdoria.

Age is the only thing I don’t like about him. Good in the air, good on the ball and left-footed and a mainstay under Ranieri so should adjust quickly. I don’t think it’s fair to dismiss this as the Pozzos dipping into the bargain bucket again or whatever. He’s a good player.

What about the suggestion that he won't be fit for several months?

Probably best to get him on trial first. Test him to see if he can direct Craig Cathcart and WTE into this pen.

I think that’s crossed wires with the Ghoulam suggestion?
Not seen anything to suggest Colley is injured.

Collies do ever so often go a bit mental during sheepdog trials, attacking stuff. Rounding sheep is essentially hunting. Should be entertaining if nothing else.

Is that even true? Because played for in Sampdoria in their last match and has been selected by Gambia for AFCON.

Ah edit: I have just read the thread from the beginning and it seems you have been confused by the Ghoulam suggestion.

Seeing WTE wandering round in circles versus Citeh, I think he'd feel completely at home in that pen.
