We were not great tonight, but neither were they would of gladly taken the point until our newest calamity recruit gets it wrong again surely dropped for Wednesday now PLEASE
Sounds like he didn't want to select him tonight but didn't have a choice. Mentioned in the post match interview that Kabasele took a knock in training and wasn't feeling great tonight.
But a Championship Watford (their main asset) is worth a lot less than a Prem Watford, and they risk a Championship Watford by constantly ignoring the defence. I can't explain why they make the decisions they do, but I don't think it makes sense suggesting they do it because they don't care about the success of the team overall, compared to a few individual player trades.
I'm only basing my statement on the reality of their actions. Their motivations and wants are speculation. Look at evidence. What evidence is there that they care that the team they own has a good enough defence to stay up?
I think the truth is somewhere in the middle, they get sidetracked by players who they think they can make a lot of money on in the future, which will also benefit us in the future, but unfortunately it often comes at the expense of what the team actually needs in the here and now. Good example is the keeper we bought recently.
Look at all the money we’ve spent on defenders since we originally went up! That’s all the evidence you need. Case closed. End of. Gino!
When NKoulou played WTE was dropped. Don't think Ranieri wants to play him but no alternatives. Surely Sieralta must be close to return now.
At this point Ranieri could play Nkoulou lying on a hospital bed and he would still be better than Troost
Incidentally, despite everything I thought one player looked good in the first half: Hernandez; and two players had good games throughout: King and Kiko. Dennis was always threatening in the first half, but Watford forgot to play the ball to him throughout the second half.
Don't think Bachmann helped our cause by trying to time waste with the injury - probably added to the injury time.
The chance of making a profit on attackers is much lower if they don't spend the bare minimum on keeping the attackers' club in the Premier League, how do they not see that? It's not as if it takes a huge effort to improve the defence, Nkoulou came in having not played for ages and we improved markedly, imagine if we had him fit and firing all season?
Troost-Ekong: Have you left the club yet? What's keeping you? There are thousands of Watford fans willing to chip in and pay for your Taxi, Plane, Helicopter, Bus fare out of the club. Elon Musk has a spare place on one of his rockets. Please don't be late for take off. Ps: It's a one way ticket.
Depressingly poor performance tonight As stupid as WTE was to concede the penalty much of the blame lies with the midfield who were unable to get any control for much of the game. Not helped with Bachmann's awful delivery and lack of composure on the ball
But ultimately he was still a free agent without a club, all Nkoulou does is serve as a benchmark as to how truly atrocious our defence is, in reality we should, and absolutely need to be aiming way higher than Nkoulou. The bottom placed team in the PL gets £100m, you aren’t going to remain a PL club packing your defence with free agents.
While I agree - you are being a tad harsh on a pencil there. A pencil needs to sharp and on point to work correctly - most of the time it is. Unlike the alternative.
Too much slating for defence here imo .... for me problem is midfield - we cannot hold onto the ball, which is why invariably within 10 seconds the opposition have it, and another 10 seconds it's getting recycled into attacking areas which puts our defence under pressure relentlessly - barely any time for a breather, it's kind of inevitable something bad (ie a goal!) is gonna happen eventually. We should have kept Hughes and we should have kept Chalobah - last year showed - of course against lesser players - they know how to keep the ball, hold it better, therefore allowing better link up play as others have time to get there and receive shorter passes without the 'hit and hoof' we resort to 'cos there's no fluidity. But given we don't have them, I don't know why we haven't used Gosling for (i think) a single minute of the season. I've seen him being slated on here - eg lines like ''if Gosling's the answer, what's the question?'' - but he did a midfield job for us last year when called upon, and I can't see him being any worse than anyone we have at putting his foot on the ball and using it wisely
Yes it was an absolute choke. A game that mattered and CR70 and all the others bar Sissoko, Dennis and King choked. Bad set up. No cohesion. As someone said the fact that the goals were late was irrelevant, harder to take but inevitable. Clueless from all.
Forgot we were playing tonight. I see normal service has been resumed? Tonight is likely to be our equivalent of Aston Villa away in 19/20 by the sound of it. Failure to drastically improve the defence in January can only be a result of severe negligence from those who do business properly. Still, we are likely to turn a profit on Dennis and possibly Pedro so it's probably worth it eh?
