Not a chance, that’s not how football works at all.

That’s before you even consider how unlikely it was that the likes of Almunia or any of our foreign contingent watched a league one play off game.

Even if they did, at that point we were losing the game and (possibly) going out, so do you really think with mere seconds to go, any of the players involved in the goal would’ve just kicked the ball out of touch or played it around at the back if they hadn’t seen another team score a last minute goal as well? We need a goal now, good job we all collectively saw that team score a last minute winner the other day, otherwise we wouldn’t have a clue what to do in these desperate circumstances we find ourselves in.

It was pure instinct born out of the circumstances, if only football was as easy as imaging what another team has done and simply replicating it!

Has anything been said yet about Sarr's injury?

Well, it was actually a league game, a winner-takes-all on the final day of the League 1 season, and the situation was similar to us and Leicester - Brentford needed to win to secure automatic promotion, whereas Doncaster needed a draw. And IIRC it was widely reported at the time, so it's not inconceivable that some of the Watford players heard about it while watching Sky or the BBC at home (they weren't playing that day). Obviously they weren't thinking about it in any depth at the time, but clearly what footballers do is inspired by what they've seen other footballers do (hence the rock/jazz analogy). And they didn't desperately need the goal, because if the result had stayed the same after Almunia's save, the game would've gone into extra time. But of course, it was the combination of sheer relief, drama, no little skill and the culmination of a great play-off tie in its own right that has made that goal so special and immortalized in Watford history.

Anything Almunia and Cassetti did was pure instinct and reaction.

Beyond that I’d be seriously concerned if Anya’s thought process, when the ball was then about 30m up in the air immediately afterwards, had anything to do with an end of season league one game.

Ha ha. The only thing I make up on this forum is my voting for Micah Hyde every week.

I know what I was told last night. Sorry next time I won't pass on what I heard and I'll wait for the club to confirm something in about 3 months instead.

Bit odd that they don’t really know the extent of the injuries nearly a week later - at least we can probably assume they aren’t ultra-long term as those types of things would have been operated on already you’d think. Although this is Watford….

Sadly once again, one injury in defence lays bare just how weak we are back there and how reliant we are on 1-2 of them just staying fit. With Etebo, Sierralta and Nkoulou all out, we are missing our 3 best defensive players - hopefully the club are witnessing this and realising it’s happened once and could happen again even when they are fit. Quality reinforcements are a must in January.

Sarr is ****ed isn't he. Also, Cathcart will return to his normal level playing alongside WTE. Apart from that it's looking good.

Every season we seem to be constantly bottom of the injuries table.

A problem that urgently needs addressing.

While I think Etebo's injury may have been avoided if he hadn't been forced to rush back to help out defensively after what can only be described as a chaotic set-up, I'm struggling to see what else we could have done about the other (supposedly) serious injuries we've suffered this season, Sarr was caught by a bad tackle, and the Chileans did Sierralta dirty

And to think we had nearly a whole week of relentless positivity around here. All brought down to earth, predictably, on a Friday. Typical.

Still, it was a good week.

True, but almost every season in the EPL we have been in bottom few for most injuries and/or most days out injured through a season.

If it was just 1 or 2 seasons then you may call it a statistical anomaly, but seems to be more so.

    No no no.

We're constantly TOP of the injuries table.

I'm hoping for a place in European injury table next season.

Maybe it's because a higher proportion of our squad have to permanently operate at their physical limits just to compete at all....and the fact that a lot of them are older than other squads.

Well that was their debut album and is regularly cited as a 'British Psychedelic Rock Classic', so I'm not surprised you found it a bit 'different'. I'll admit I didn't buy it until after I'd bought their subsequent 3 albums: 'Entertainment', 'Song For Me' and 'Anyway'. I'm sure you'd find all of those far more accessible, as you will the following 2 ('Fearless' and 'Bandstand'). Their final album, 'It's Only A Movie' is OK, but you could understand why they split soon after, but you can see a degree of musical change in these 7 albums released over 6 years. I'd urge you to give them another listen...but I would!

As for the other 'prog' bands you list, early Genesis were great...in 1970 I saw them at Watford Tech just after Phil Collins had joined, but before Steve Hackett, so they were then a 4-piece...they were second billing to 'Steamhammer Mk2', so early in their career were they. A couple of weeks later I saw them at the Watford Kingdom Hall, where they were at least top billing...not difficult in a venue that held about 100 people! I thought they lost whatever I liked about them after 'Selling England By The Pound', with 'Lamb Lies Down....' a bit over-indulgent, and I lost all interest after Gabriel left.

I saw Yes at Watford Tech in 1970 also, the year before they released 'Yes Album'...I actually prefer the first 3 albums to anything else they did, although parts of 'Close To The Edge' are OK. Went to see them perform 'Tales From Topographic Oceans' in 1973 & wished I hadn't!

Only King Crimson albums I got into were their first two, but they were good enough to count for all!

Family were less obviously 'ProgRock' than any of them with a more pronounced R&B and bluesy sound.

I went to that, it was absolute chaos as the stewards and police had no idea what to do in the new stadium. People got dragged out all over the place for doing not a lot.

There was a teenage couple / brother and sister / both in the home end who spent the whole time giving it large and doing every gesture known to man at us, with the young lad reacting very angrily at accusations of being a virgin. Didn't see them second half and one of the stewards came over and insinuated that we had caused one of them to have an asthma attack. My mate claimed that, in turn, they had made his eczema flare up, which seemed to blow the steward's mind.

I was at game as well. Seem to remember a very menacing group of National Front supporters making their prescence known to all as we approached the ground.
