It's watchable but pretty cringy. It's like a 69 year old Express reader designed all the characters.

Thing is, at least Ramsey, Blumenthal or Raymond Blanc are celebrated for their culinary skill. This bloke is just famous for being weird about how he sprinkles salt.

Utter lunacy. And he pays his staff a pittance according to some articles.

It’s a restaurant for complete and utter idiots. He’s also generally only at a restaurant for the first month or so it’s open. He then moves on to the next one that’s opening, so anyone visiting the London one now is paying extortionate prices for some poor sap on minimum wage to sprinkle salt on their £650 steak.

Some reviews describe it as very PC, so there is clearly something for everyone.

It’s comedy drama, not especially realistic and the stereotypes are not exactly hidden. It’s simply a vehicle for making those stereotypes talk to each other which it does a reasonable job of albeit superficially. A bit like WFC Forums.

Being aware of itself being cringy doesn't stop it being cringy. The 'woke woman' and the 'tory toff' are the worst, but the clever asian girl and the social media celeb are also pretty 2d. As is the lawyer's nasty colleague.

Also, does gold leaf taste good? Are there any health benefits? It seems to me that digestible gold is the secret ingredient in every stupidly overpriced dish ever, where they can't actually make it taste worth 500 quid, so resort to pumping rare metals in instead.

I’ve seen a few videos where people have bought it off Amazon and recreated it:

Edible Gold Leaf Sheets,10 Sheets 4.33 cm Gold Foil for Cooking, Cakes & Chocolates, Decoration, Health & Spa (10 Sheets) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07YKSVCPW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_238PFASQFF4YCJB3XZ55

£6.99 for ten sheets. I’ve no idea of the nutritional benefits, but put it on a burger and apparently mugs will pay £100 for it.

I just binge watched series 1 of "Departure" and I am going to start on series 2 very soon, as it was really good.

Dopesick was a lot more than I expected it to be. First of all the script: it really crackles even if you don't ignore all of the very clumsy 'explainers' (in pharmacology, data analysis and introduction of the real-life characters) - the writers (and production staff) managed to produce a vibrant and compelling story (which is basically detailed/summarised in my OP's footnote) in over just under 9 hours of TV that's extremely sympathetic to addicts. The stuff with the Sackler family I was willing to swallow as:
    1. I am extremely knowledgable about how modern pharma operates.
    2. Understand that the super hyper rich live very lives/lifestyles compared to us 'normal' people.
Standout performance was Michael Keaton (I looked on wiki - FFS he's appeared in some real crap)
his descent from small town doctor to junkie was extremely credible
    who co-produced the series.

Highly, highly recommended - if it didn't have the 'explainers' I would rate it as 'flawless' television.

Back in the real world it looks like the states are 'forcing' the retailers to go after Purdue...

Gotta be honest, I'm a bit sceptical about that ruling. I've used both CVS and Walgreens for scripts before and they're pretty damn thorough - and that was for non-opioid prescriptions. Of course, I haven't really tried to blag an opioid so I guess it might be easier than I'm envisioning.

Strikes me of trying to find someone with money to blame, really.

There's definitely a problem with over-prescription in the States, but I'm sure most of it is coming from actual doctors rather than people faking scripts. It's unbelievably easy to blag painkillers over here with even the most basic of doctor's visit. That's a profit-making healthcare system for you....

I *think* it was Walgreens who were the first to actually try to stop stop stocking Oxy as the insurance claims for all their break-ins got so numerous that their stores were getting classed as 'uninsurable' - this was until Purdue reps 'informed' them that the scale of the litigation (class action law suits) they 'could' face from patients being 'denied access to life-saving medication' would destroy the companies...

So The Outlaws series 1 finished. I'm aware series 2 has been commissioned, but it did a terrible job of wrapping up any of the threads of the various characters.

After 5 episodes of setting up all their disastrous lived, it resolved nothing. Very unsatisfactory.

New South Park 'film': 60 mins of purile humour that relies on little but swearing and juvenile arse gags. Are they showing these monthly as I read somewhere that they have made 16 of these?

Can I submit a series that has turned to utter sh*t?

    You.

After 2 episodes of series 3 its absolute cr*p. Made it halfway through episode 5 before Mrs Diamond had to lock the knives away.

South Park is absolutely brilliant, in general. Could count on both hands the number of genuinely crap episodes. Not seen this latest special, though. I think it's 16 specials across the next 10 years, or something similar.

Landscapers Sky/HBO is a bit of an odd one. It looks at the circumstances of the arrest and trial of Susan and Christopher Edwards, who were jailed in 2014 for the murder of her parents. Her parents were shot and buried in the back garden of their house in Mansfield.

The Edwards then pretended Susan’s parents were alive for more than a decade, constructing an elaborate tale that they had moved to Blackpool and were enjoying a seaside retirement.

It’s conceived in a highly modernist and theatrical way - all the innards, the sets etc are on show and it moves between realism and fantasy in an attempt to convey the fantasy world of the convicted. I wouldn’t say it all works, but it’s interesting and David Thewlis is tremendous.
