It was a shame Kiko mistimed it. As he approached the ball I had time to think ‘this is going into Row Z’ but his shot was beautifully controlled.
I think we’ve seen enough to tell us that we have a decent chance of staying up. We have real fire power up front, but we can get also get outplayed by better established sides. Our play is still developing and while it does results will remain wildly up and down. What we need to see is progress, which the last couple of games appear to show. If you’d have said, at the start of the season, that we would have won a third of our games by this stage I would have bitten your arm off. Well not literally of course, that would be an assault, but you get the idea.
Thank you Happy Hornet, kicking towards the Rookery End in the first half worked well didn't it? Normally, when I say something the opposite happens. I was having a good old moan at Sarr when he scored a cracker He is having a tough time at the moment and deserves a lot of credit for still showing for the ball even when every touch he made seemed to be going wrong. It took a lot of character, many lesser players would have hid. He deserves our support.
On a side note, why were Watford supporters (some in replica shirts) leaving the ground after 80 minutes. Is it something to do with car parking? I jus5 don’t get it.
I agree that we should focus on Watford deservedly hammering a mahussive team. Solskjaer seems like a nice guy, however, I think you may be showing your age Mr Platypus? I cannot comprehend how anyone that was around in the 90s wouldn't take particular joy in Manures demise.
Yeah, hysterical. Sissoko can get in the France team 70 odd times, but not this dog sh1t United midfield.
MoTD also. Absolutely necessary that they had to cover the situation at UTD but they were insightful and clear about Watford's success in the context of the match and the last few games.
Although I wouldn’t criticise anyone for doing so, as it’s their prerogative, my sister and I were similarly surprised. Historically we have never left a game early but these days, because our journeys are long, and the M25 is so unpredictable, we have started to leave a couple of minutes early, or at least move down from our seats to loiter near the exit, at games like the Liverpool one, where the result is not in question and the match is dire. But I could never leave a match before the final whistle when we are only a goal up or down, nor could I leave early when a match is as enjoyable and the atmosphere as good as was the case yesterday. How gutted would you be to hear the roars of two more Watford goals as you’re walking away from the ground? My journey home took almost an hour longer than it could have done, because I stayed in my seat until the final whistle (we’re very near the back of the Rookery so takes ages to get out of the ground, never mind get out of Watford itself), but it was worth every extra minute to experience that match and the atmosphere at the end.
Does anyone else think it's utterly insane how awful we are at corners and free kicks? It certainly isn't normal, is it?
I think corners have improved tbh. But I wish they would give Masina a chance at free kicks, there were 2 yesterday that were in his area. Btw, can anyone tell me why Cleverley couldn't touch the ball when it was played back to him from the corner? Surely he wasn't offside as he passed it into the near post.
Watching again on MOTD, their goal came from precisely the thing that annoys me most and which I was whinging about on here recently. It all came from Man Utd winger putting over a cross from outside the box on our left on to Ronaldo's head. Who should have been there cutting out or blocking the cross? Massina. And he WAS there facing up to the winger. So why was he able to take his time and measure the perfect cross onto Ronnie's forehead? Because Adam was tooling around with his bloody hands clasped behind his back being as much use as a traffic cone, even though he was well outside the box, rather than putting in a challenge or attempting to get a foot in and block.
Not sure how correct this is, but from my calculations we are eight points better off right now than we were at this point last time in the PL? So if true - that's improvement over that for sure. If we can a point at Leicester (which, is not impossible from considering) that would give us 14pts coming into Chelsea (certain loss) and our seasonal spank by Citee.
I am as frustrated with Sarr's inconsistency as many others on this forum, but when I saw how he interacted with crowd after scoring yesterday it made me think what a venerable human being he is as he seemed to be virtually pleading for forgiveness from the crowd, so lets get behind him through thick and thin and try to boost his confidence. IMO he is one of those players who wears his heart on his sleeve and thrives or fails on how the crowd reacts to his efforts. So maybe we, and I include myself in this, should get off his back despite his current inconsistent form and get behind him in the hope he will react positively to our support. So lets show him some love guys as he is a confidence player and if we give him our unswerving support he might just show us the player we all know he can be on a much more consistant basis.
There was encroachment from players from both sides so the rules say (apparently) that the penalty should be retaken. I know, I know; the referee and VAR actually got it right. Incidentally, I know this doesn't 'fit the narrative', but I thought J Moss had a very good game. Certainly good for Watford, as we got stuck in and he 'let the game flow'.
Sancho is one of the great mysteries of United’s season. I remember the German football press being baffled that he wasn’t an automatic pick for England at the Euros because he was so terrific over there, so I was disappointed that Man U were able to sign him. But doesn’t seem to have been anything like a regular for them under Ole for some reason, which can’t have been good for his confidence.
Shame, as I found the guy very likeable. But this news, after yesterday's match, is as surprising as the news that grass is green.
Genuinely didn't know that rule, thanks for sharing! Interesting how the United encroachment was right on the other side lol, you'd think in situations like that common sense would prevail and they'd take into account that they weren't gaining any advantage from that
Apart from not even booking McTominy for dragging down King for the pen, never mind a red for denying a clear goal scoring chance. Oh and not even giving a foul for the absolute mullering of Sarr which led to him having to be subbed. By the way, another thing. Great game Emmanuel, but you should have scored from the rebound to the pen. Then with both team's players encroaching the goal would have stood. And great game Kiko, but encroaching and by that far? Bloody hell man.
I shouldn’t be surprised around here as people still call it the ‘Premiership’ but the automatic sending off for ‘denial of a goal scoring opportunity’ rule changed FIVE YEARS AGO. It wasn’t a deliberate foul by McTominay and considering Moss waited until Dennis had somehow put the ball wide before giving it, it wasn’t a yellow either.
There's been some improvement, though not much. Louza took a couple of decent dead balls yesterday and Cucho is a threat with his corners.
