Well we all know who will bookmark this thread don't we?

    @hornetboy1

Same as two seasons ago. So-called big six will get all the wrong decisions go their way, little Watford and the rest get shafted. Did they remember to go to WHSmith to restock of crayons when
    they draw those lines? :D

On the one hand I’m pleased to hear this, but on the other it will only reintroduce variable judgement between refs and therefore more inconsistency. The pro-VAR faction strives for certainty, whether it be for offsides or penalties, e.g. “he was touched so it’s a penalty”. That approach will be abandoned.

Noticeably during the Euros the only time there seemed to be an issue with VAR was when the English refs were running a game, so I'm not that optimistic.

I'm glad they've decided it now needs to be a foul to award a penalty...

Since VAR isn't going to get tae fack, "Advantage to the attacking team" is the next best thing we can hope for. Fingers crossed the thicker lines mean more goals from open play, while the softer penalties get pushed out. Nobody wants two penalties every match.

Is there anything about punishing divers with cards? Because that seems to have been phased out when it needed to be firmer than ever.

Time to dust off an old thread.

I must say already this season we have already seen a few injustices against us in favor of other sides - be it a total lack of a attention from officials or a biased ref. Here are a few we can highlight.

Southampton H .. almost certainly denied a penalty when Cucho's FK struck the hand of a player in the wall. It was deliberate and should of been given.
Newcastle H .. the ref was inexperienced and should never of been in charge without proper training at Premier League level. Not really his fault, but it's still a mistake.
Arsenal A .. This one is easy. Mr. Friend was scratched off the xmas card lists of many Watford fan's with his Arsenal shirt on Sunday. Sneeze if your in yellow it's a booking. Penalty decision was awarded correctly - Rose obviously testing out his wrestling moves. Incident that lead to the goal was very suspect in the name of fair play.

It's going to be a list which will get longer by the game. It's pretty spectacular the consistent bad luck and mistakes that go against us when in this league, especially over the last two season in the PL.

He was dreadful for both teams and had zero impact on the outcome. Nothing anti Watford about it, he was generally just crap.

No doubt it’ll get longer every game we don’t win. Which seems to be the common theme.

Yup. Suspect if the roles were reversed and we'd been leading for a long period and time wasted he'd have let us get away with it too.

The fact Rose wasn’t booked for taking out the Arsenal player yet others were says a lot !

And it certainly was a foul on Sarr - even Arsenal fans admit that.

I was playing 5 aside last night and myself and a few of the lads were talking about Arsenal's s goal and I said although I kind of sound paranoid I genuinely don't think that goal gets given if it was the other way round. Two lads who support United and Liverpool (from their armchairs) disagreed but tje other two lads who support Portsmouth and Coventry agreed. Big team bias is here for everyone to see unless you are a fan of one of the big teams. The referees aren't going to get hammered in the media fo making a mistake against little old Watford but the whole country will debate it if it is one of the big six. This why I like that Claudio had called out Arsenal and Kevin Friend and maki g a bit of a song and dance about it because it may puts bit more pressure to stop referees making the easy decisions and going against the smaller team as they know we have a respected and experienced manager that won't care about criticising them publically.

Klopp complaining that his keeper was fouled for the first goal at West Ham.
Yet people saying Sarr was not fouled before the Arsenal goal.
Tells you everything about the mindset of big team manager's, supporters, pundits....

Was the Newcastle ref Jared Gillett from Australia? that same BBC article says he's been promoted to the Premier League list for next season... mind you, whether that will be relevant for us remains to be seen :)

He was promoted ahead of this season. Us v Newcastle was his first PL game.

Here is my idea for VAR. Would it really be so bad to have ex-pros at Stockley Park? People who have played the game for years and know the ins and outs? Perhaps have a supervising referee,
but then at least you would have a much better outcomes, like when asking the ref to hand it to VAR and look at the monitors etc.

Probably for tackles and penalties where there might be a dive but even ex pros disagree with each other as pundits .

Also Skyla there was the Leeds game where we had perfectly good goal disallowed. Pretty much every commentary I saw on it agreed , even MoTD.

Have a majority decision from 3 or 5 ex-pros doing the VAR and I'm certain you would get better outcomes than the current system.

Yes. Because former pros have allegiances that sit deeper and more widely known that current officials.

It’s a mentality issue in this country, simple as that. Whoever is on VAR is largely looking out for his mate out on the pitch - because their roles could be reversed in the next round of fixtures.
