Proof that last week’s win was entirely due to Everton being s**** and not about us being any good at all.
Sounds like we are being easily outplayed by Southampton. Ah, the euphoria of last week as been replaced by mediocrity . The trap door is open again.
Couldn't be any more ******* predictable, could it? A good win followed by a ******* disgusting pile of ****. The ref needs putting down as much as our squad and the idiots that run this club as well. Our defence makes me physically sick.
We are weak mentally and Sarr is the worst of the bunch. We should have gone into that game full of confidence and energy. But we showed nothing. Last week we won the second ball, we had great transition from back to front and the attack was quick and fluid. Today was turgid and pathetic.
Another gift wrapped 3 points to an average team below us in the table before the game, see also Wolves, Leeds etc.
Terrible 1st half thought we had enough to get a draw in the 2nd half, sustained pressure but no luck need to sort out our defence
There wasn't too much in it, but Southampton were just that bit better than us (which is an obvious concern). I thought it was a bit strange to start with JP and it wasn't a surprise that he was subbed, but bringing on Cleverley as his replacement was a big mistake, he offered nothing. Sema for Cucho was just odd, Sema also offered nothing. Last week's subs from Claudio boosted us, but they were wrong today. Fletcher coming on was the only sub which made sense, and he did nearly bag a vital goal. Our defence and defensive midfield lack mobility. Ngakia was often easily skinned last week by Gordon and this week by KWP. We know about Cathcart. T-E had a more rare defensive lapse for not closing the goal down quicker. But really the defence and midfield were too often chasing shadows and it could have been way more than just 1 conceded. Josh King played out his skin last week, but Saints marshalled him pretty comfortably today. Sarr looked tired.
Well this proves you can't polish a turd. King isolated and well marshalled. I think we are all getting tired of Sarr.
Wow 1-0 is flattering. Should have been 3 or 4 nil if Saints could finish. Sarr is overrated for me, if Newcastle offer us silly money I'd sell 100% (not just knee jerk based on this game) he only performs 1 in 5 at best. Fast as **** but poor game intelligence and delivery isn't great either. Jesus I dont know where we go from here... I'm not expecting anything from the next 5 would treat it as 5 training sessions try to keep it respectable get Sierrelta and Ngkolo up to speed so we can try to recover the season once this run is over
Sarr needs a massive kick in the pants. Claudio has to remind him to get at his defender. Stay on his feet and not be so petulant. When he goes at players he picks up fouls. He needs to do that every time. Not get miffed and stop. Messi should be his example. Shame we started so poorly before reverting to the normal pattern of play and tactics. Really gifted Southampton the freedom of the area around the box, We cannot play 4-4-2 at present until Nkoulou and Sierralta get in. Improved second half but still not enough. Lack of positivity and aggression in the first half. The defence need to be told how to watch runners off the ball and get out more quickly as well as using the ball better. Sarr left Ngakia badly exposed as well. Positives Foster and his distribution, Masina played well which may be down to Ranieri. Sissoko his usual self and Kucka looked more alive than in any game since the Villa one. The referee was a complete *****. Gave almost everything to Southampton who are adept at falling to the floor. Should have been a penalty on the free kick. If that is not an unnatural arm position what is ? Shame King or Sarr did not stick away their chances in the first half. We apart from Claudio starting with the wrong formation are low on confidence despite last weeks win and conceding did not help. An equalizer would have restored some belief more quickly. We cannot go in with that defence. Nkoulou and Sierralta need to come back as soon as possible and Rose somehow get back to his real match fitness plus sign a couple of players in January. An absolute shambles that we did not pick up players like Larsen or Bataille or someone like Facundo Garces out of Argentina. Gino deserves a massive kick in the pants for that. Southampton are a decent side but hardly stellar. Another game with points eminently on offer squandered this time by a poor opening and set up. At least Claudio unlike Xisco is prepared to change accordingly. Just have to hope we can scrape some draws out of the next fixtures. With sides coming at us might be better for us counter attacking and we did that well with a couple of quick breaks one of which should have been scored. Thoroughly disappointing after last week.
We are down if Cathcart and Ekong are our pairing. They're both an absolute embarrassment to this league. It is unforgivable that we're in a position where they're starting games. Pathetic.
Absolute dogsh*t. Didn’t lay a glove on them. Livramento is some player. It was worth the entry fee to see Sema completely and utterly clueless up against him.
Time for more misery. I'm going to watch Wales get murdered by New Zealand in the rugby. Glutton for punishment me.
Got slaughtered first half, Ranieri made the right changes, particularly bringing Cleverley in to give us control in midfield and the second half was a lot better. We will not stay up with this defence clearly. Ref was beyond comprehension in terms of being spineless and inept. And it was one way ineptitude that always went in Soton’s favour.
Sema and Cleverley were brought on by Claudio to try and bring some physicality and bite and pressing. And it worked a little bit better in that second half. Should be a lot closer. The USA last week were fielding a reserve side and only conceded a hundred points. Disappointing from Tonga as well earlier on. Barely any time to train together.
This is what Watford is all about. Poor performance after a stunning victory last week. We have to be realistic, our players are average and when a well organised team come to the Vic, they will have a great chance. To be fair, they should have won by two or three. The last 12 minutes against Everton was a freak, but did demonstrate that we have some capacity. The 90+ mins today showed that we find it difficult to show any creativity, when opposing teams are prepped. We looked very vulnerable in defence today, which comes as no shock to any of us. King was given little or no space today. Sarr’s distribution was poor. Little to be enthusiastic about. Sissoko was solid again. Lots of work to be done to scrape survival.
Don't think it was the defence that was the problem today tbf, conceding just 1 is good for us. It was the other end of the park.
Probably the most inevitable result in the history of our club. Just have to hope we are within touching distance of other teams going into January now.
We gave up a stupid amount of chances in the first half. Poor finishing saved our defence. Did you actually watch the game?
Well the ever turning wheel of inconsistency that is Watford FC goes for another spin. That was utter dog sh!te - we hardly touched them. Sarr.. please just go in January. He has lost all motivation that we used to see and it's pretty damn clear that he doesn't want to be here. King should of scored, but I think our best player? Fletcher. He actually wanted to get something out of the game. Their goal was complete and total joke. (Didn't see it live but saw a replay). WTE gives their man the sort of freedom Luther got last week. Turn, have a shot, GOAL! What a surprise! Good goal, curler into the corner, but why did Sarr leave Ngakia so exposed? Why did he not track back? Why is our defense Championship level still? I cannot be bothered answering that last one. We know why. Claudio had no answer second half, but I do not blame him. Although it's a head scratch why he brought on Sema. We could (and should of been at least 3 down at HT. Ref was a **** all game, but a poor official cannot mask how utter crap that was. What the hell has happened to our home form? We play so terrible at the Vic. 45mins apart, we play slow, labored and never go at sides. Look at Palarse today... what a result for them. Even Burnley won. We are just so, so poor at the back. We can probably scrape survival if we tighten up in January but by then we could be right in the mire. King was a shadow of what he was last week - but he had no service as we were pinned back for so long. Claudio already knew how bad we could be after Liverpool, but he must see the size of the task after that. Another week has gone, another winnable game we get nothing from. Now it's only going to get worse. Arsenal away next, who are on HOT form, they'll batter us. It might be another Liverpool scoreline next week. We are obviously not good enough for this level at the back, and to be honest I could not see us doing well in the league below with our back. Could the bloke from Chile save us? Doubt it. We knew this season would be a struggle, but to have any chance of staying up, we have got to improve at home. We stand off, play a very weak attack and just try to keep them out. Not good enough, and just like after Norwich and Villa, our next performance is miles off what came before it. Glad I didn't go, but I gave my ticket to my sister who probably will be pretty pi$$ed when she gets back. We are better than that shower - we have shown it. Southampton could of had a deckchair in goal. Again, good cameo from Fletcher - he gets a lot of hate, but unlike most of our squad - at least he does try.
0% dribble success rate 12.5% of ground duels won 20% of aerial duels won 33.3% passes complete Good lord.
Was it wise to take 2 attackers off for once and replace them with Cleverly who does a job but not going to get a goal and Sema who battles but has no threat or pace? Ngakia had a mare against Walker Peters who also handled Sarr well and Redmond and they kept the ball much better than us.
One of the most annoying things of all about Sarr is that, for all that he is one of the fastest players in the league, he almost never absolutely uses it - allows himself to get in races and even outpaced by defenders half his speed, and always looking like he’s somehow running within himself. There was a moment I noted to my bro on WhatsApp: 47.30 - Sarr received the ball ahead of and inside the full back a few yards outside the box - an incredible position. The fact that the way the situation ended up was not with him strolling into the box and having a shot or rolling an easy cross in to finish, but with Walker peters easily catching up, rounding and stripping him and coming away with the ball entirely, is almost unforgivable. That’s genuine ‘don’t give a shyt’ energy from our most valuable player, for sure. Disgusting to see, and he’s got little excuse for it, frankly. (Requisite ‘it’s not just/sole/entirely Sarr’s fault we lost the game’ disclaimer for the overly black and white bores out there)
I called it, absolute crap after a great win last week. Not much to dissect, the players couldn't be bothered to do the work today. Simple as that.
Some on here will still defend him. He already proved he's **** at this level and then wasn't much more than average in the Championship. Another one who should be nowhere near a Premier League club, but such is the continuing mismanagement of the squad by Gino and co.
