I suppose. The trouble is, “sitcom” to me implies a sort of Terry and June scenario. Which this most definitely is not.

The characters come first, and the situations are written around them. At least, it seems to me.

I suppose it blurs the lines slightly with a mocukmentary, but it’s not filmed in the style of the office etc. And some of the scenes and outcomes are far too absurd to fit that criteria.

Just got round to watching Vigil it was ok, there were a few times where I couldn't suspend disbelief as it was just nonsensical plot armour...I mean a non-military walking into Control during a drill....just no....that's just never going to happen.

And the flashbacks...it felt like Slumdog Millionaire but had way too many could have reduced it by one episode without being spoonfed the flashbacks....(Present day: A tiger is starting to eat my face off....Flashback: Son, if you're ever having face eaten off by a tiger, remember to do this...Present: Remembers the advice and the tiger stops eating face off)

So it was ok, with so many sloppy plotholes.

I think I would describe it as a “character based comedy”. Seinfeld was the same.

Just enjoyed "Midnight Mass" on Netflix.. its about a 7 episodes., would file it under Horror.

Was some obvious stuff we could predict but it still threw in a few surprises and enjoyed it.

Yes, a bit disappointing. Occasionally great, but fundamentally silly.

We started it last night and only got 1 episode in so far. It feels a bit slow and ponderous, and we were both struggling to get into it. Does that change?

Some great scenery though - really beautiful shots in places.

I watched the first episode yesterday lunchtime, yes the first is a bit slow but it gets better. I'm on the 4th episode now.

I'm horrified people watch non English speaking films or tv dubbed aside from geordies and scousers, they should be dubbed whenever possible.

Watched it, first couple of episodes were good then it just descended into far fetched, over sentimental crap with the various security organisations totally unbelievable in their actions. Last episode was ok, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I watched 9/11 Inside the President's War Room a few weeks ago, and see it is still on iPlayer. I thought was very good, and it does illustrate the poor infrastructure around him when the twin towers were hit. There he was, on the advice of his people, flying around on Air Force One against his own wishes, as he was thought to be a target. He was acting blindfolded as they didn't have satellite communications, and couldn't even properly pick up TV news bulletins to see what the world was watching.

Considering his "finger is on the button", a bit frightening, tbh.

I thought his reaction when receiving the news at the school in Florida he was visiting, was quite telling, and maybe helps explain some of his decisions further on.

Yep it does improve but does slow a little again n places. Part of it is the impending doom you just know that's coming. Looking back the first couple of episodes were the best as they teased plot lines, with stuff in the background. Once the main story line is out there... then it becomes a little obvious but enjoyable

It's a shame because the show of the film that spawned this* is down to one good gag per episode. I really think something was lost when they shifted the setting from Un Zud to the US.

I love telling people I watch non English speaking films/tv dubbed, it really gets an OTT reaction for some reason - especially in the nerdy world of reddit.

The Boys. I believe they're two seasons.
The Chestnut man. Danish crime series
The hunt for a killer. Swedish crime on BBC iplayer

Yeeahhhh... Berry's always a good VFM performer and Tash Demetriou appears now to be in an arms race with him in who can give the most OTT performance (and the normally great Kristen Schaal* has failed miserably in joining this competition). As I said there's now one good gag an episode - I'm certain that the rate was higher in earlier series. Kayvan Novak is good in it but the revelation has been the two supporting characters played by Javier "Harvey" Guillén (their servant/familiar) and Mark Proksch (an energy vampire). Give it a spin you won't dislike it.

*It's a crime that "The Last Man on Earth" was shitcanned by Fox.

Late to the party but, after looking for something a bit more light hearted that all of us would enjoy, have just started watching Brooklyn 99. Enjoying it so far.

The Boys is ******* incredible. My only advice would be to have 2 days booked off work because you will just want to press next. Sure, it's a little silly at times but just enjoy it for what it is. One of the most engrossing things I've seen in a while tbh.

Less light heartedly, Mr HH and I also started watching the Night Stalker documentary series on Netflix. One episode in and I would describe it as grim but really interesting.

Still working through The Morning Show on Apple TV which features Jennifer Aniston and Steve Carrell as the hugely popular hosts of America’s version of Good Morning Britain.

No spoilers, but simply to say it’s a brilliantly conceived and acted piece, much more weighty and interesting than the subject matter suggests. Very funny and at times deeply uncomfortable viewing.

Started watching "How to sell drugs online (fast)" on Netflix. Really enjoyable - funny but also quite poignant. Takes a couple of episode to adjust to the dubbing as it's German.

I really want to watch this - don’t usually watch tv via my iPad but assume this is the way to watch Apple TV?

I just connect my phone via an HDMI to phone adapter to the TV.

But if you have an Apple TV box you can cast it to your TV and some TVs can receive it cast directly from your phone or iPad. Otherwise it’s snuggle around the iPad.

Using an adapter is low tech but v easy.
