It's the first Korean show I've ever watched. Goy any suggestions?

My 15 year old started watching it last night and, even though I have already read all the episode summaries and know all the spoilers, I have found myself sucked in (I just turn away at the gory bits) - even found myself welling up in episode 6, even though I knew what was coming. After a tiring weekend, it’s been a perfect Sunday binge watch - we’re on our 5th episode of the day and counting…

I won't spoil it for you so just keep binging. My Mrs now has the Ahole because she never watched it.

After watching The Squid Games, have now embarked on Alice in Borderland. Think I will need something a bit lighter after this.

Squid games as others have said is worth a binge watch. I also found that having them speak in their native tongue with subtitles rather than English being dubbed over the top was much easier on the ear.

Yep absolutely, tried the dubbing but it’s awful, would much rather hear the native language and read the subtitles.

My wife had to spend part of her evening emailing parents to remind them that Squid Games is not suitable for 7 year olds o_O

Unbelievable. Then again, when I worked at TfL, there was a saying regularly used in meetings when it came to looking at different scenarios: "never underestimate just how stupid the general public are".

    You mean like this:

    https://www.newsflare.com/video/456...srupts-the-dlr-by-jumping-on-the-train-tracks

There is a better video which must have been taken down, but he hops straight onto the live rail so I can only assume it was turned off.

A more extreme example, but yes.

From memory, the rail only goes live shortly before a train arrive - effectively the rail is only live when a train is near. Do not test this please.

That makes sense, but I wouldn't have the nerve to ever test it out even if I knew it, and I also wouldn’t imagine this idiot even knew that. He just hops straight onto the live rail and down onto the other side, unbelievable.

Squid game was good, bit predictable but good none the less. Watched the dubbed version as I'm lazy and it seemed alright.

Neither of us have seen it but I gather it’s a tad violent?

She showed me the review from an app that judges suitability for age groups and was a list of things that are guaranteed to psychologically damage a child!

You can quite happily step on any of the live rails as long as you don't earth yourself. Luckily for that bloke I assume he was wearing rubber soled boots.
On the tube the outside conductor rail carries the positive voltage so it's the most dangerous, hence why it's always furthest away from platform edges.

Well, put it this way, my 17 yr old recommended it to me but warned me I might find some of the violence too much. She was right on both counts - I loved the series but had to turn away from several parts of it. Plus, it’s not just gory but disturbing. It’s most definitely a 15.

I watched the first episode at lunchtime today. Despite the slow first half hour, I can't imagine what would go through a parent's mind to allow a 7 year old to watch it. I suggest that it's likely that some of these kids have access to Netflix without controls and are watching things like this unsupervised.

  22. Filbert

    Filbert Leicester supporting bloke

Yeah the unsupervised Netflix use must account for the vast majority of kids watching it.

I don’t want to drag the thread off topic but this is a constant battle my wife has at her school. She coordinates all of their IT work and that includes educating them on the dangers of the internet. The stuff she produces for parents including hosting talks and workshops gets very little uptake.

Rewatching Curb. Leon is the best character in any sitcom. Absolutely top drawer.

Agreed, I’ve been watching random episodes again recently as well. Earlier I watched the chipped tooth one and the wedding in Mexico one when they won’t give their weights and he’s a standout in both.

I remember being on holiday in one of those all inclusive places where you see the worst of Britain, and there was a group of young boys (maybe 11-13) and they were all talking about ******* bitches and smacking bitches from a YouTube channel they all watched. It's quite depressing how un-regulated it is.

Anyone watching ‘the Morning Show’ on Apple TV? Excellent and highly nuanced take on television in the current climate. Multi-layered, thought provoking and very funny.

The leads, Jennifer Anniston, Reece Witherspoon, Steve Carrell, Billy Crudup are at the top of their games. Occasionally the script gives them too much time to grandstand, but it’s a minor quibble about a terrific show. 8.4 IMDbs atm.
