A poor decision in my opinion.
    He is a luxury manager.
I give it 4 to 6 months tops

69 years old. Our oldest-ever managerial appointment?

Surely he has 3 months in him - gone by the new year!

First Pozo managerial appointment of somebody with actual experience. You know, not a handful of games in Israel or Georgia. Positive step

Not sure we realistically could get any better. We have limited options available and CR has had success in his career, and knows the PL. At 69 is clearly a short-term appointment, but aren’t they all

As long as we let him have a bit of a nap in the afternoons he should be fine.

Well his inherited team also take naps at around 3pm on Saturday afternoons, so I’m sure that would fit in nicely.

Hi Troy, loved your penalty for Birmingham big man. Would u like a cushion to sit on on that bench?

Steered Sampdoria to safety after they looked dreadful when he was hired, and subsequently led them to a comfortable 9th place finish last season. Gave Nantes their second best second in two decades, and could've finished higher except they slipped late in the season (a run of something like 0W-3D-3L). Awful at Fulham, but think Fulham were awful for all managers that season.

I was really down on Ranieri a few hours ago. I'm weirdly optimistic now.

Possibly Watford's. But old managers are not unknown. Nor are they unsuccessful. Roy Hodgson has only just retired and is 74. Crystal Palace have a huge amount to thank him for (and Ray Lewington, aged 65): I doubt Palace would have successfully hung on to a Premier place without him - their squad was not a good one. Too often derided or ill-regarded in my opinion.
Neil Warnock is 3 months short of 73 and still going strong: 8 promotions suggest he knows his business.

He knows how to play counter attacking football.

We have speed on the counter and little else.

Considering most managers wouldn’t want to touch us, he’s a good appointment. Much much better than what we’ve had previously.

And wasn’t great at Fulham some will say but has that personality the players will like and should be tactically astute .

And he will already be 70 during what would be only his second game, at Everton, if appointed.

On paper this is a solid appointment coming off the back of a successful stint in Italy where he decided to leave at the end of the season.

Knows the league (obviously) and had a solid game plan with an abundance of tactical astuteness. I will judge him on results but he will need time to make his mark. I hope we get a new manager bounce just in time for playing the top 4

Out of interest what’s the term for number of STDs obtained? I imagine there is a positive correlation between this and the errr ‘body count’ so to speak.

That Leicester season is one he can really hang his hat on, and those with binary perceptions will cling to that.

However, I took a special interest in Leicester’s title win that year and spoke to a lot of Leicester fans along the way. The overriding impression I got was Pearson and Shakespeare set it all up. The title win could easily have been Pearson’s had he not been sacked for non football matters.

Ranieri came in and tried to change things but immediately fell back to what Pearson had set up because it worked and kept on working for an entire season.

Once he won the league he felt empowered to “tinker” as he didn’t think they would sack him. It went wrong very quickly, losing the first match to Hull and it all unravelled with player revolt.

Since then he’s gone on to flop badly at Fulham. That’s his recent record in the Prem.

Now I’m not saying he won’t be an upgrade on Xisco, he clearly will be, but will he be good enough to steer us clear of relegation? I’m not so sure. This is my overall concern with him.

But on a human level, he’s some you can easily like.

Case infection rate?? My mate who's over a thousand has never caught one but he's pretty OCD about biosecurity. I'm sure his wife appreciates it!

Always liked him. He’s like Sir Bobby. The crazy, lovable uncle you’ve always wanted. And let’s be honest, anything is a step up from the leisure centre manager.

I’ve got a horrible feeling it’s going to be a complete disaster but he’ll have my support because I just can’t bring myself to say anything nasty about him. If it does all go wrong, it’ll automatically be the owners to blame, not Uncle Claudio.
