He didn't do that badly in Rome either.
True Sampadoria were bottom when he took over. They couldn't of asked for anything better. Also improved that by finishing 9th the season after. Did well in his short period he had at Roma before that too. Atleast he will be having us work as a team. But I can't see him using Sarr on the right, I reckon it will be him and Dennis as a front two.

I predict we will lose to Liverpool, beat Arsenal and Utd, lose to Chelsea and get our seasonal spank by Citee. 10pts - not terrible, then we have Brentford and Burnley. Oh, and I reckon we can a win over Southampton and a draw with Everton/Leceister.

Who knows whether it will work, but it should it be entertaining with the Tinkerman. And given our track record of sacking managers, is about as good as we will get.

I can imagine Liverpool will be short of a few considering Brazil play Uruguay friday.

A cheeky little 3412 would get me popping. Masina as the left-sided centre back and Sarr being allowed to go wherever the **** he likes as the '1'. Phwoar.

Clubs often chose the polar opposite of a departing manager as his successor.

Even us. Sannino after Zola. Garcia after Sannino. Mazzari after QSF. Munoz after Ivic. And so on.

Seems we will now go from the most inexperienced manager in the PL to just about the most experienced. From somebody with a handful of matches in Georgia and not even the full set of badges to somebody who has had 3 PL clubs, an international team, Roma, Sampdoria, Juve, Valencia, Napoli and Monaco on his CV.

Truly from one extreme to the other.

He only has to take us to 17th end of season. If he can't do it then a stronger case can be made that the players aren't good enough.

Well if he doesn't we'll never here the end of this as people will say we were 14th when Munoz left but then if we are struggle he probably won't last the season.

Ranieri might not be the manager he once was, but he's more than good enough to coach a squad to 17th in the Premier League and he's achieved more than enough to command respect from every player in our side.

I think he'll do well for us.

Ranieri is not the answer. If appointed, l feel it is a poor decision by Gino. He is a luxury manager.
He will very quickly find out the the current squad is simply not good enough for the Premier league. Then what?
At his age he will not hang around. He doesn't need the money.
After Leicester, it has been all downhil for him. You have to reach the bottom at some point, perhaps Watford is it?

They did have Vardy at his peak at that time so 4-4-2 could be said to have been geared to maximise the potential of his best asset...doesn't mean he'll play it no matter what.

I’d argue since he left Leicester, the jobs he’s done bar Fulham have been very very good. But you’re right to question his age

Whoever becomes the new manager I hope they are supported in the next transfer window. We're screaming out for another aging/crocked midfielder, a 16 year old Colombian Cantona and a goalkeeper to send off to Colchester.

If we're looking for new recruits in January (and I hope we are), having a manager of his standing can only help the process, provided we're not dead in the water by then.

Vardy is only world class in one attacking system. The fact Raneiri played the Vardy system suggests he may well play the Sarr system with us rather than 442.

I doubt many women would have been able to resist that square head. I bet he was rampant throughout Southern Italy in his 20s.

I think he’d be a good appointment. His experience is valuable and he’s another guy who seems like he should be able to keep our prima donnas on-side.

One of the main attributes I want in a manager is flexibility. It’s why I loved Jokanovic: he had 2/3 systems he could call upon and tried to pick the one that best countered our opposition. I seem to remember at Leicester Ranieri played the same XI every single week, but if he’s still ‘The Tinkerman’ when not winning every single game then I think I may like him.
