It is more who would come? Not who is the answer. Eddie Howe is a total no go. According to his wife, he will probably not coach again. He had some kind of breakdown towards the end of his Bournemouth tenure. He is a total control freak, so that would not gel with the Watford backroom interference.
Decent bloke by all accounts, and irrespective of the quality we had last year, he steered us in the right direction and took us up. Credit due. That said, he was clearly out of his depth at this level, and recent moves smacked of desperation - dropping Sierralta for Cathcart, then doing the same to Cathcart after his subsequent mistake came across as swinging in the dark. Felt like he was trying too hard to stamp authority on the squad, and tactically we’ve been so naive. It’s not his fault that he was in over his head, that’s on Gino, but I don’t think anybody could doubt his commitment to giving it his all, despite the obvious flaws.
With our run in October, we wouldn't have won a game...in fact we'd get hammered with Xisco....it was definitely on the cards. Then you risk a new coach with a team whose morale is on the floor. He had to go now.
Lopetegui and QSF in the running. Bookies haven’t a clue. Wouldn’t have it any other way. A huge mystery followed by bitter, never ending disappointment.
Will never ever happen but Lopetegui would be so classic, and probably an absolute disaster also. Roll up, roll up!
Totally correct We have been very, very poor. This is against struggling sides. A complete thrashing was on the cards if Xisco remained in the job. A Southampton 9-0 kind of result. The change was needed no matter how nice Xisco is a person.
I get that, and I can't imagine its the most appealing job with our record (then again, 10 months work then a nice payout sounds decent to me), but what do we want? Another PE teacher or someone with decent experience? If the latter Ranieri seems a decent shout to me out of those who maybe interested. I can't really see some upcoming progessive manager wanting to come here.
I don’t feel bad about this at all. The bloke presided over two of our worst ever performances and results in Luton last season and Leeds yesterday. We only lost both games 1-0 but both could have been 5-0 which sickens me to the core. Thanks for being a weird cross between Mr Brittas and Mr Motivator and goodbye.
Really sad to see him go…but it’s the right decision. Tactically we have looked hopeless this season. Lovely guy and massive respect for his performance last season.
Wouldn’t expect anything else really, we gave him a job that no other club would’ve given him, then we gave him a shot at the PL when we really shouldn’t have.
You should have been braver. No one sacks anyone before Watford. Clubs always hold off until we make our move, then the floodgates open.
Not read it as I've learned not to bother reading other club's fans with no knowledge of situations comment. I bet it's usual armchair supporter comments such as: "They're only Watford, how high do they expect to be?" "They're on 7 points already. Why sack him. I hope they go down now." "Ridiculous decision. What does are a joke of a club." They'll have no idea of how we have been playing, that we're lucky to be on 7 points at all and that we're unbelievably lucky not to have lost the last 2 games 5-0 at least due to some shocking play. They'll stick with Farke as their owners have no ambition to be anything other than a yo-yo club. Most of them probably jealous that our owners have the balls and thick skin to do it knowing the backlash. We will also get the same comments from other armchair fans who look at our points and think we should be grateful with that and that Xisco is doing a fantastic job. Little knowing that he's been completely out of his depth tactically all season and got a lucky win v villa and a win vs one of what's looking like the worst clubs in premier league history. So unless anyone has watched all our games and still feels the same, I guess it's just ignore them and carry on.
Actually tbf a few of them have said the Pozzo way seems to work for us so why not run the club as they do. Seems to be more fans of bigger clubs who think we ought to know our place and not expect better than 1 point v Wolves/Newcastle/Leeds and Brighton as 3 of them are bigger clubs. TBH They either just don't seem very bothered about not being that great and happy to have a good Championship season every other season or feel they have been really unlucky or it's only a matter of time before their fortunes improve.
