Ranieri? I would take that. We would be Premier League Champions next season.

    Diego Martinez has been mentioned
Gattuso for laugh along with Ranieri.
    Howe to piss off Muff
Guidelin is well known by them I suppose.
Scott has currently got his blindfold and pin at hand.

Hmm, not sure about that - he completely flopped at Fulham, whose situation would have been pretty similar to ours. Plus he's even older now and would have lost one or two of his key backroom staff to permanent roles at other clubs.

I hope he's just one of the managers on the shortlist rather than the certain appointment.

Seems a good shout as well.

Has he "been mentioned" as someone we're actually supposedly interested in, or just someone others would want us to appoint?

edit: notice he's currently second favourite with the bookies. Would rather him than Ranieri.

A bit on his tactical approach, which sounds similar to what our approach will probably be (or should be):

"From the offset, Martínez employed a 4-2-3-1 formation, placing a strong emphasis on defensive solidity and quick counterattacks."
"Martínez has often gone with his tried and trusted 4-2-3-1 this season, but he’s also experimented with the 5-3-2 and 4-4-2 formations depending on what the opposition calls for."
"They’ve kept things simple — remaining compact, stifling opposition attacks, and breaking on the counter — but once again, it’s gotten the job done"

    Would take Ranieri.

A character for sure and tactically very good with prem experience. Would surely earn the respect of the big time Charlie’s straight away?

Ranieri was appointed by Fulham during the season after they sacked the manager who got them promoted with the objective of keeping them in the Premier League and was sacked a few months later with an awful record and relegation all but confirmed.

Fits the Pozzo model to a tee.

  14. Someone defensively minded, knows the team and how to organise it, strong character.

Ivic might be a good fit.

And the last time we appointed an ex Leicester manager didn’t end well ..

I'd imagine it'll be Ranieri, could do much worse imo.

Hopefully learned from his poor Fulham experience.

While I'd certainly prefer Martinez, Fulham were a worse shambles than us that season, and Ranieri has since gone on to do a half decent job with Roma, and a very good job with Sampdoria. More to the point, he's an actual competent manager who should definitely get more out of the squad than Xisco

I'm sure he was mentioned as a possibility, on here last week.
Certainly did well at Granada and he's available.

Yeah I think it's an appointment that could go either way but we're hardly in a position to appoint a top coach. An upgrade on Xisco is needed and Ranieri is certainly that. His last couple of spells in England haven't ended well but he seems to have done well at Sampdoria. He's a likeable guy though and should get the fans and players onside quickly.

The Pozzo family have been friends for a long time with Ranieri. My initial reaction is no on hearing the name, as his record since Leicester has been average to poor. But if he's the guy Gino picks we have to back him. I think he'll probably be crap, but he's a much better tactician than Xisco. If he keeps us up, then it would be a good appointment, but at this moment in time, I'm not convinced.

If the mess this next appointment up, I can't see how anyone can possibly defend Giot Pozzbury. It's going to be someone we've never heard of isn't it?

At least I won my bet. Bookies showing a real lack of knowledge below the top 6.

No. We'd need to get Pearson in until the summer, then appoint Ranieri.

Well he did badly at a sinking ship on the Thames, but back in Italy he's been good. I wouldn't be fully convinced by him, although it's not a bad squad of players we have, and he'd surely be better than Xisco

I like Ranieri, arguably we have a better squad for him to tinker with than he had at Fulham and he is a good tactician, something that sadly Xisco wasnt. Filberts connection with us would just get stronger too so I am all for that.

Why did Martinez leave Granada at the end of last season? Perhaps he's been on a retainer with the Pozzo's as plan B.

Who's that Italian guy who looked like the living dead who managed Swansea? He's the one I want.

Or is he actually dead now?
