Perhaps they could have improved the set piece defending ? Another shambolic goal to give away. And our own set pieces. Dreadful. The pick being that driven corner from Sissoko to the first defender.
The problem is that the club is increasingly reflecting the mentality and behavior of the senior hierarchy. As the Chinese proverb says 'a fish rots from the head down'
Wouldnt happen under Big Sam. I know, I know, no one wants a manager who might actually keep us up. Such is Watford....
Can you see Gino paying him the going rate, leaving him alone to get the job done and letting him have a input on January signings??
Well, we had plenty to go around. Shame we didn't sign another white elephant from our sisters in Udine too.
Why do people talk as if the financial mess we are in isn’t completely of Pozzo’s own making. People post as if he is some noble force trying to fix things out of this control! And yes we lost some gate receipts due to Covid but it is insignificant in the bigger picture. If we hadn’t been promoted last year Pozzo would have resulted in administration. Absolutely awful owners.
The whole manager thing is a massive red herring, Spurs paid Mourinho £15m year, we paid £9m for a player who clearly isn’t up to it and has barely featured. Compared to the players wage bill, any club managers salary is a drop in the ocean. Pozzo skimps on the manager but the relative cost is nothing in comparison to what is spent on players. False economy.
Every asset and future cashflow was secured against debt at end of cup final season. If we aren’t spending a penny with premier league income again, what do you think would have happened if we had stayed down with Gray/Deeney/Success still on the books. By the way I support the current frugal approach but what would have happened if we stayed down doesn’t bear thinking of.
So for that reason, whatever happens over the next few days, Xisco deserves both their gratitude and ours.
Yep right person at right time. And in my view saved us from complete financial meltdown. Unfortunately seems out of depth in premier league. It would be interesting to see if the club had backed Ivic last season rather than sacking him and the ridiculous absurd Duxburry public backing of Deeney.
I am not sure we would have been top 6 but never know - we might have improved attack wise with Hughes back and the players getting used to a defensive style of play.
Just seen the goal - not great goal keeping by Foster then Kucka unfortunately set them up. Naturally we were slow to react which sounds like it summed up the performance generally. Have to see the disallowed goal again but looked like it was a foul by Kabasele on Cooper at first rather than the keeper.
Good news all, my last away match was Southampton in November 2019 - QSF got sacked after that result. My previous away match was Newcastle away in September - Gracia got sacked after that one. The signs are good for a hat-trick! I hope you appreciate the sacrifices I've made going to these matches for the benefit of the club.
Yes, I think the goal could have been given had it been scored against us, but as a small club playing at a place like Leeds, it was never going to be given. Kabs had his arms around Cooper's neck, so was a definite foul. I think it was a correct call to disallow, but I've seen that type of goal stand for other clubs.
And if you’re looking for possible coincidences, Pearson’s first match in charge was against Liverpool wasn’t it?
What do you not being set up properly? When the team was announced most of us were happy with it. And we lost anyway. Lack of quality at this level to get consistent results it would seem. A fair few of us knew it wasn't going to be easy this season and we were favourites to go down. Not sure a manager change would necessarily alter anything.
