Xisco has people watching videos of our opponents literally telling him their weaknesses, to set us up so badly against Newcastle is pretty shocking at this level. We'd honestly be better off leaving it to the players to sort out, like they did after the Coventry game last season.
I would almost certainly be up for Troost to give another team talk like he did after that awful display that day. Problem is, without the manager to organize, players would more or less pick themselves. Can you really see 'the bloke from Chilie' telling Cathcart he gets his spot? Although Foster could film the whole thing for his YT channel so we could at least see how it went down.
The difference with those clubs is they are attempting to win a title, we are just attempting to survive . I would agree with you that Xisco has shown some tactical naivety , but he has also shown some positives as well . We need to be mindful that he has to rebuild a whole new front 6 from scratch, which even the most experienced of managers would struggle with . We also need to be aware that at least 5 of our goals conceded are nothing to do with tactics but horrendous individual errors . Our Xg and Xga puts us in 12 place in table , exactly where we are in the real table . I know you re looking at it from an informed tactical position , much of which I agree, but it’s become so dull listening to a cabal of posters on here who want every manager sacked after 3 games , and then want the same for the new manager after another 3 games . They really do represent the blight of the modern day armchair, keyboard warrior fan . Having said all that if we lose badly to Leeds he probably will go. Whether his replacement can do any better is to be seen .
I don’t think we can use the he has this to do, or that to do, purely because that’s what his job ultimately is. Also for xG we’re 18th and xGA we’re 12th, XPTs we’re 17th - and that’s with one of the easiest fixtures in the league. Regarding wanting people out, I don’t see why people find it an issue honestly; we all want the best thing for the club, we just differ on how we think the club should go about it. I personally liked some of the managers we’ve let go, but can also understand why they’ve been let go
We re joint 12th in the Xg for points table , which is what I said . https://footballxg.com/xg-league-tables/ Which is exactly where we are on the reap points table . Suggesting that we are in a place that reflects our overall performances.
Although I don’t feel that Xisco is tactically astute for a manager, I do feel he deserves time. We need about a point a game to survive and he’s done just that so far - albeit against what most would consider “easier” opponents. Continuing from my point about ‘time’, it would be nice for once to have a manager that can stay with us for the long term; and out of all of the managers we’ve had over the past decade, Xisco seems to be the one that show’s potential to improve the most. Even though Xisco can be very naive at times, we have to take into consideration that he’s a relatively young and inexperienced manager and this has been his first stint in English football. A 60% win ratio in 35 games is not something to be ignored. In fact, there’s very few other managers (I can think of) that could have beaten that sort of return of ‘wins’ and ‘points’ whilst managing us, both in the Championship and now the Prem - unless of course you’re going to name the likes of Klopp and Guardiola. Like Louorn has stated, If we were going to replace him, we’d have to find someone worth it. Otherwise, we’d be in a worse off position than we are now.
Please could you explain why you think it’s an awful post. Not a problem that you think it is; seeing as it’s just my thoughts about the situation composed during my hours lunch break - sorry I couldn’t provide stats and figures to back my opinion! “who cares about how long the manager stays for if the team is successful?” I do… If our manager is successful, then i’d want the club to do everything in its power to keep that manager here. I thought that was an opinion everyone shared, no? Giving managers time give them the opportunity to develop themselves and build a team that suits their system. Chopping and changing managers so often means that we’re stuck with a team that requires a certain type of manager to fit in with. There’s lots of examples of teams sticking to managers that started off a bit shaky and then naturally falling into place over time.
Xisco only has the potential to improve the most because he had a starting point of completely unqualified for the position. I’d also like a bit of longevity but I’m not convinced picking the cheap random option is the one to persevere with. I’d rather have kept Pearson or Ivic.
How do you feel about our owners? They tend to sack managers quite regularly, are they different to the fans who just call for the sackings, rather than actually handing them out?
It wasn't an awful post. RC been on the 'get rid' train for some time, so not worth wasting your time trying to reason with him on this one. I think Xisco will be trying to work out what the best midfield and front 3 combination (including Sarr) as the season goes on, as he didn't have some of them in the Championship, and one or two injured/not up to speed, so yes allowing more time would be quite reasonable if thrashings/bad run of results don't occur in the meantime. Whether the 'chosen ones' have enough quality to keep us up is a different question.
Fair point, but quite a few who didn't enjoy his 'style' have left the club. There might be more 'buy in' from the current squad if they could see his tactics resulted in less Keystone Cops play.
Difficult to say, a lot of big egos now gone, plus if he was engineering the odd clean sheet in the PL (we currently have none) the new players we have now may trust his methods a lot more.
Dunno. Seems like a hammer to crack a nut. Not sure we need an austere head coach-bot to achieve that.
Not saying we should get him back; just musing on how we seem to have made a potentially good appointment at exactly the wrong time.
Just sharing my thoughts on something. Considering it was typed up whilst on the bog, taking a ***** in my lunch break, I would hardly call it taking it seriously!
Why would you take a ***** (not sure what you do on the bog that has 5 letters...) in your lunch break? Surely that's what work time is for. Amateur.
In a league where we need defensive steel, in an era where we've lost the biggest dressing room influence who could undermine him, I'm sure Ivic would be great with this bunch!
ALWAYS **** during work time. I'm not sure why anyone would spend their break sitting in a cubicle smelling other people's ****.
Now that the man that has run the club and formulated the tactics for the last three years has moved to Brum, we need to give Xisco enough time to bring in his own ideas and tactics.
Liked for the pic of the telly. Very similar to ours when I was a kid... Basil Brush in colour... nostalgia rush
Odds have shortened a lot on him to go. On Monday he was 6/1 to be the next prem manager to leave now he’s 13/8. meh
