While I think the performance for about 2/3rds of this game was even more concerning than Brighton (as much as we were getting dominated, we didn't exactly give up many clear goalscoring opportunities), I do also think there are more positives. Obviously take the oppo into account, but Tufan looked bright, the missing piece of our midfield who we need to play well to have a chance of staying up

This sums thing up perfectly I think. Our wins tend to be down to individual displays of brilliance from our players rather than tactical nouse of the manager.

And with our squad we need both or we're doomed.

Not sure about that, yes Brighton have had a much better start but they finished four places below Newcastle last season. Brighton was a worse performance because although they didn’t look like scoring so much, when they did we looked very shaky in defence and it cost us two goals and they nearly went 3-0 up after halftime (apart from the Cathcart back pass, the Newcastle game didn’t have anything as bad as that), and we hardly ever looked like scoring even when we managed to finally put together some attacking moves.

The league table lies, it was a travesty that Newcastle finished that high, an absolute travesty. Average players wise, but with an absolute melon as a manager, but luckily a melon that won't be sacked any time soon. Any man and his dog could see that Brighton were always going to finish way above Toon this season

Enjoyable in the sense that it was a chaotic, end to end game, but even if we played really well against Brighton, we probably don't get anything, whereas we're not going to get many better opportunities for 3 points than yesterday

I’m on a ‘like’ spree, this has been a thoroughly enjoyable distraction as I sit and wait 12 minutes for the next District Line train.

To put this into context I once waited for a lift for 10 hours on the wrong side of the road when hitchiking from Prague to Paris without realising and me and my gf had to sleep the night behind a bush at a petrol station. Happy days (actually they were).

How did you not realise for that period of time? The only way I can imagine is that a single car did not go past in that time?

I would get Howe in just to see the total meltdown on the up-the-cherries forum. :D We already took Gosling (who, quite frankly, they can have back) and their old boy King (who is finally showing some promise).

It would be interesting to see if he employed the same "tactics" at Watford as he did at B'muff.

I'd take the udinese manager in a heartbeat. We'd stroll into Europe with him at the helm.

Saturday felt like a loss to me. I came away thinking how poor we were and lucky not to get thumped. If you are trying to score with crosses then put Fletcher up front not give JP a 'try out' after injury, He should have used him in the Carabao game.

We are so painfully weak in most departments. I think we have to suffer these performances for the whole season. I do feel that the Pozzos will continue with Xisco even if we go down, They will see him as a good enough coach to bring us back up (rather like they do at Norwich).

How would rather not be working than take the Celtic job and have to compromise on something. We’re as far away from being compatible to Howe, we couldn’t possibly be any further away, we’re completely diametrically opposed as a club. We’ve all got a greater chance of being Watford manager under Gino before Eddie Howe has.

I seem to remember plenty of us on here were horrified to be linked with him and preferred the big scary Serbian or the old Barnsley boss...

Apparently he's in St Albans for some reason, drop what you're doing completely and get him in Gino!

I think we’ve been roughly at par so far this season, especially given how many signings Xisco has had to integrate. It’s often tricky to know how to interpret a team that is just about picking up points with bad performances early in the season. Do you take encouragement from the fact that results are being ground out despite the poor performances? Or just wait until the results reflect the performances and we lose every game.

I think the tricky thing with Xisco is that it is hard to see what the product/style that we’re working towards is and I think to survive with our squad quality there needs to be a clear plan/style.

Absolutely. We would definitely benefit from a bit more ****housing. I want to see King falling over & winning penalties again like he used to.

I don't think even they could make that stupid a decision, surely - they will be aware, after all, that he will not have a £40m star attacker in those circumstances.

No thanks. Would rather go down than win like that.

Unless it kept us up a Bournemouth's expense, at which point I'd die laughing.

I was at a graduation the other day at the cathedral, a lovely day out, my wife loves the place! Luther Blissett (and Alex Scott for that matter) was also there that weekend picking up an honorary degree, unfortunately not at the same time as I was!

That’s Biggleswade United rather than Biggleswade Town, which begs the question: why on earth does a place the size of Biggleswade have two football clubs?

I don’t support the manager or the players - I support the club. It’s possible to support the club and feel like those in charge of it or playing within it could be better/replaced etc

Not saying it’s my opinion (yet) to get rid. But this often pushed out line/theory that somehow you aren’t ‘behind’ the club just because you voice fears over matters pertaining within it, is nonsense.

It was a busy junction, we only found out the following morning when a couple of German hitchers started chatting to us and we realised they were heading in the opposite direction.....Easy mistake to make, cough.

Very true. The population of the entire town is less than an average Vic Rd attendance.
