Think there was one turnstile at the top of the SEJ doing it but not the one I went in.

At the bag check at the Rookery Mrs Willis was asked if she had been double jabbed and if she had the NHS proof on her phone but she was not asked to show it. It was like a survey rather than a spot check.

My son tested positive this morning - bit of a headache but that's it. All his mates have it and I expect the school to be mostly empty today. The rest of the family are negative for now, but it's likely to put paid to my daughter's birthday plans for Saturday. That's 2 years in a row her birthday plans have been ruined by Covid, so she won't have celebrated a teenage birthday how she wants to.

What are people's updated thoughts on vaccinating kids?

For me, although the personal risk from Covid is currently low for youngsters (and side effects of the vaccine is also very low, lower in fact than many off the shelf medicines) I think we should vaccinate as many people as we can. The more cases we have, the higher likelyhood of mutations and the higher risk we get a mutation that does seriously effect kids or even proves immune to vaccine. Whilst kids on the whole don't suffer they can still pass it on and we really need to get shot of it as best possible.

Of the 51,000 who died between January and July, "only" 256 were double-vaccinated and most of them had underlying health conditions.

Firmly of the opinion that everyone should be vaccinated if we are to eradicate it.

Science is incredible and it works.

Not sure how I’d feel if I had a kid at the younger end of the scale but definitely keen for my 15 year old to have the vaccine and she wants it too. She is doing GCSEs this year, but is the youngest in her year so doesn’t turn 16 until after the school year has ended. Without being vaccinated there is a very real risk that she could get Covid in the midst of her GCSE exams.

My oldest is 15 and will be doing his GCSEs in May/June too, he turns 16 at Christmas but with his mocks just after the Christmas holidays I'd rather he has his single jab sooner rather than later.

What I don't yet understand is that although he will receive his solitary jab, will he automatically get a second after he turns 16?

Well on your side, you've got the combined brainpower of the world's best scientists and stats, on the other there's Nicky Minaj's cousin's friend's testicles:

My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent. His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it & make sure you’re comfortable with ur decision, not bullied

As I understand it youngsters because of a generally more robust immune system one jab may well be sufficient.

My youngest returned last week from a fortnight's raving in Croatia. He had to take God knows how many tests before flying, after flying, during his stay, before the flight back and on arrival in the UK (all at considerable personal expense and inconvenience) and yesterday he received a message telling him to isolate because someone on the plane tested positive. What a joke! He's just done yet another test which was of course negative so no way is he going to self isolate. I don't blame him.

If he's double jabbed he doesn't have to isolate. I had the same coming back from Greece a couple of weeks ago - got pinged and panicked, but looking into the rules, it basically meant nothing.

The whole thing is a farce.

As said above, if he’s vaccinated he won’t have to isolate. I was pinged after I went to Victorious with my youngest. Once I ticked the boxes to say I was vaccinated, I was told I didn’t have to isolate but advised to do a PCR test. Your son has done so anyway. So I’m afraid he’s not being as rebellious as he and you think he is.

My understanding is the under 18s are only getting one jab.

    I read the same response to her stupid tweet from one of the prof comedians I follow on twitter, so either;
1/ You read the same and nicked it
2/ You are as funny as a professional comedian and should be the telly, or
3/ You are one of the professional comedians I follow on twitter.
Reg D Hunter, is that you ?

Does anybody have experience with the testing at Heathrow T5 for arrivals from an Amber country, particularly the time it takes, and convenience of the process.

I hardly think the idea was to make a load of money out of this. It was to provide a deterrent, and may well have worked well. Of course, articles like this will have the opposite effect.

You're right, it was just a PR exercise. This outcome was completely predictable - in fact I think without checking back @Keighley and I said it at the time they were announced. Hopefully this kills the idea for future lockdowns, as there's no deterrent effect of a £10k fine that becomes £120 by the end of the court case. Better to concentrate on actual deterrents rather than phoney ones in my view.

I think was a deterrent rather than a PR exercise. My errant niece that I have mentioned on here a few times reckoned that the threat of prosecution did reduce the number of events in Nottingham. If true, then it worked.

The US death toll for Covid is now higher than the Spanish flu death toll.

Given that actual Covid deaths are projected as being far higher than the official number and that a good percentage of the US was shut down for weeks/months, it doesn't make for great reading.

To be fair, it seems likely the Spanish flu figures were underegged too.
