Given that the bull market is in full force at the moment, the best thing you can do is get a little profit now, cash out and keep it on the sidelines, and reinvest it when the next crypto winter arrives. Then continue to invest for the 2 or so years leading up to the next Bitcoin halving and ride the next bull market up.
Pretty much what I do, set £ amount every single month when I get paid - 45% in BTC, 45% in Eth and then 10% in some of the more speculative projects. That way my buy-in price averages out across the bull/bear cycles.
I remember when you first mentioned Ethereum and I was intrigued so always kept an eye on this thread. It's evolving quickly with the hard fork a few days ago and 2.0 in a few months. There's this Infrastructure Bill coming up as well which will affect all crypto. Fingers crossed it doesn't tank them. Will be keeping a close eye on that...
Yeah I think Eth is on a one way trajectory upwards (providing the Infrastructure Bill doesn't ruin everything). If only I hadn't sold the 40 eth i'd accumulated (for the grand sum of £500 total....)!
Yeah. I had 1.5m HOT. At peak they were worth 3 cents each! I sold them for about $0.0018 got 2000 instead of 45 grand.
I try to avoid second guessing myself as long as I make a profit. Timing the market in crypto is next to impossible.
This is the thing. I sold for what I thought was a nice profit, after a long slump, but watching the market kick on afterwards was hard, even though I could've never predicted it.
Yeah I had about 500k of HOT as well, funnily enough I bought £80 worth of HOT yesterday but only got 10k of them in exchange!
Spoke to my friend that introduced me to HOT today (after my purchase the other day is already up 9%). He has 7 million of them! Buy price was around 16k, now worth almost £60k. Not bad going!
I have about 200k now. It's soaring again. It was you who tipped me off about it about 4 years ago. Been following closely ever since.
Not so much a holder but went in (fairly) big on Cardano for the first time last week. So far so good - now the 3rd biggest crypto.
XRP Vs SEC will move forward on 31st August with the fact discovery ahead of the expert discovery on 15th October. Added a small amount of XRP to test the waters - but I don't particularly trust it.
Sorry I'm a complete idiot on this subject. But can somebody give me some advice on a crypto wallet? Been told some of them can be quite dodgy and would like a nice easy basic one to withdraw ubtc and transfer into my bank. Any help would be very much appreciated.
That'll do! I'm late to the game but looks like I've joined during a bull run. Currently holding BTC, ETH, ADA, IOTA, XTZ, ALGO and MATIC, with a little bit of XRP to see what happens with SEC. Been doing so much research and I think ADA has the most potential of that lot, though IOTA has just gone on a rampage.
All I own is ADA buy yes your portfolio is strong, gutted I missed the Solana boat as that was just over a dollar when I first thought of buying that............. yesterday it was slightly over $100
I think you are confusing a wallet with an off ramp. An on/off ramp is a means for converting Crypto into fiat, so you can transfer to your bank. Something like Coinbase. Wallets, you just want a wallet where you hold the keys and store them safely.
Metamask is the most trusted wallet, easy to use and safe as long as you keep the keys for your eyes only!
I said I wouldn't get addicted to this but absolutely have... Whoops. Spent every day for the last month studying charts and the underlying functions of around 200 altcoins to sort the wheat from the chaff. Positions in 15 different cryptos now and all of them have played out as the charts indicated - apart from Polygon, which looked nailed on to drop but did the total opposite - cashed in the day before a 10% rise...might revisit it later. I'm not one to HODL though, I will take profit on the inevitable dip and move that back into stocks and ETFs ahead of the next cycle. MIOTA tops the percentages, although it looks like a possible squeeze. Surprise performer is the Algorand. EOS is on its way. Expecting big things from Aave and Neo this week. (Obligatory "Absolutely NOT financial advice disclaimer")
Ok nowwww I'm HODLing. Nice of all crypto to drop 10% while I'm asleep. Bit of accumulation and play the waiting game...
Suspect a lot of people bought over the last couple of weeks due to today being the El Salvador Bitcoin currency adoption day, then sold off to realise profit. Then some stop losses kicked in, price plummet, and bam: flash crash.
Typically I got paid this morning so bought my monthly crypto. Think I bought at literally the worst possible time haha. Ah well, the joys of dollar cost averaging.
I saw today that you can buy crypto directly within the PayPal app. A choice of four: Bitcoin Ethereum Bitcoin cash Litecoin I believe there are limits on amount you can buy per year, but seems quick and simple on the face of it.
Ouch. I bought yesterday so I feel it. I expected a dip this week but not within the space of 5 minutes! Frustrating but things will go up by year end. Got a little bit to play with, think I'll wait until the Americans wake up and assess the situation - ETH hit $3k today, bargain if that happens again tomorrow.
I sold half my portfolio a week ago - it went up about 10% after that and I was getting FOMO, but I suspected a dip was on the way - just not got the timing perfect, but then, who does.
See - I just don't have the right type of mind for studying charts and doing technical analysis. I've tried but it seems all to be a lot of conformation bias.
Also the charts mean sod all when Bitcoin whales manipulate. Charts are more useful outside of Crypto to be fair.
