Yep, as I say, he didn't get there, but he put Chiesa(?) off just enough to stop him from having a clear chance
Yes - and at best it would have to be a reflex save then the ball could go anywhere. Like you say they were classy quick thinking finishes. full of power.
Shown he can compete in elite football. Strange circumstances over the last few years, but thankfully his patience has been rewarded. Hopefully he will be our number 1 for a few years to come. Not bad company either after Foster, Gomes, Almunia.
A routine 2-0 win for Bachmann's Austria against Moldova, Moldova only had one shot on target. Probably will face a stiffer test against Israel and Scotland, who are Austria's main challengers for 2nd spot in the group behind Denmark (although Austria are basically guaranteed a play-off spot at least due to their performances in the Nations League)
Well he has got the number one jersey for now in all fairness. He won’t be dropped after one error in a game where he made 3/4 good saves .
Furthermore he only made one mistake against Tottenham. It wasn't even a howler, he just saw it late when perhaps he should have anticipated the trajectory of the free kick better. I'm sorry that I refuse to wait around for our own players to make an error and then pounce on them like some self-satisfied Jackal.
I pounced on him long before the howler against spurs. It was obvious from the first time he played for us that he was one of those keepers who stays rooted to his line. I can speak from the experience of actually playing 11 a side football what an absolute nightmare it is when you have a keeper who stands cowering on his line no matter what.
Fair enough. That's understandable and seems fairly reasonable why you don't rate him. You could have just replied to my post saying that in the first place though.
Sorry Gromit, but he made several errors against Spurs as his distribution was appalling throughout the game, in fact he almost cost us a goal in the 1st minute when he made the first of his many bad passes out from the back directly to a Spurs player. One of the main things that people on here say gives him the nod of Ben, is that his distribution is far better than Fosters, but that theory was sorely tested against Spurs me thinks.
Let's hope that clean sheet last night provides him with a bit of confidence for when club football is back.......(doesn't matter who it was against .)
At least that means you know you have to attack every ball in no matter what...it's the ones who come out like a raging bull for some balls into the box and then stand there stuck on their line for the next, almost identical delivery, that are the real nightmares.
Yes, but it's not as if boozed up Sunday League defenders like RC want to actually do much defending!
3-0 down, though couldn't have done much about any of the goals so far. 1-0 https://streamable.com/quvkhu 2-0 https://scuffedentertainment.com/4iru85/ 3-0 https://scuffedentertainment.com/t8ib6g/
Poor Bachmann is conceding woridle's tonight! Have to feel for him, nothing he could have done about any of them I think. https://scuffedentertainment.com/de45fv/
My god Austria's defending is abysmal. It wasn't great at the Euros either with Alaba one of the main culprits.
Would strike a blow in that group, none of Austria, Israel and Scotland have beaten anyone other than the bottom two seeds yet. Israel are pretty **** though, Scotland are better but aren't great so I'd still expect Austria to finish 2nd though, even if they are wildly inconsistent
Austria v Scotland this week will probably be the key. Only top team qualifies so Denmark are almost there probably! Having said that they are being held in the Faroes .
If I'm being hyper critical, maybe he could have done better with the third, it kind of went straight through him, he wasn't given much support, but he's normally good at one on ones. Maybe the fourth too, he didn't make an attempt, but it did go top bins
The Faroes are one of the best of the European minnows these days tbf, although Denmark have just gone 1-0 up
3rd is a 1-1 which is always weighted in the striker's favour, he couldn't rush earlier as he needed the CB to cover the pass to the other striker before closing the angle. Austria's 1st was similar. 4th I'd be inclined to agree with you.
The 4th was about 10 seconds after his goal kick though. We didn't see what happened because of the replay, but it's a recurring theme already this season that the opposition have chances shortly after he passes the ball out.
The fourth looked like terrible play from an Austrian midfielder, losing the ball on the edge of his box.
All 5 goals he was rooted to the line which affected the defensive positions and forced defenders into mistakes. Much like Troosts errors being his fault. I've not even seen the 5th, but I am making my agenda fit the scenario. With Foster in goal Austia win 2-0.
Bachmann has looked very nervous so far this season and has been prone to making quite a few errors so far, could it be he is finding the big time a bit daunting? It could be that because he had a fairly easy ride last season playing with a team that was riding along on the crest of a promotion wave? Hence it could be that as he has never really had a lot of pressure put on him before he is now being found out and showing he is not really equipped to handle it?
I think it's because he's just not a top level keeper. That's it. Good shot stopper, but so are all the fat *****s you see playing 5 aside every week. That's the easy bit.
The last paragraph will definitely be the case to some degree. Same with our defenders, in our relegation season defenders like Dawson and Kiko regularly creaked and cracked under the pressure, Kiko was fine a league lower and Dawson much better in a better team with better players. More to do = more opportunity to **** up.
