There was a QR code on our Brighton tickets which we had to reveal and scan to get in, but there are none on our Watford tickets. (We both have iPhones.)

Three dots in bottom right and then scroll down, you should see a QR code.

Thanks. I can now see a QR code on my season ticket for the Wolves game. As far as I’m aware the club has never mentioned using this as a method of access into the ground. The stewards I have dealt with at the turnstiles haven’t indicated it either (as the one at Brighton did). No wonder people are confused.

I actually found the system at Brighton much smoother than it was at VR the previous week. The queue moved more quickly despite the additional Covid check and, since we had been briefed to have our QR code ready by the first steward, we swiped our tickets with no problems. Sounds like you were unlucky as, unlike at Watford, no one around us seemed to have any issues getting through the gates. I couldn’t see any QR codes on our Watford tickets but it sounds like that may have changed?

Someone on twitter sent me a link to the Watford fc utube ticket tutorial and it then dawned on me that I hadn't set up the NFC completely when I downloaded my ST. I'm now hopeful it will work the next time. I might add that my ST also has a QR code so both systems are possible. Anyway, worth a look as it might jog that you haven't completed all processes as I hadn't.

Watching that video again (and ignoring the fact it mentions the WFC app which now seems to be obsolete) it briefly shows a ticket with a QR code but otherwise there is no mention of it as a method of entering the stadium. It also specifically says not to put your phone into the slot "which is only for bar codes on paper tickets". But surely that is the way to read the QR code? Still confused.

This is a total guess but I imagine their thinking (or at least the saleman's pitch) is NFC works by just holding your device close to the trigger point on the turnstile and is all very quick and simple.

Whereas a QR code needs your screen to be clean enough to be read and then has to be put in the slot the right way around. And the act of putting it in or out could cause damage to a smartphone( eg. scratched screen) which the clumsy supporter then tries to blame the club for.

My season card works perfectly, doesn't get scratched, doesn't need charging and no need to download tickets. Think this is the future.

Apologies if already covered, but struggling to get my son's season ticket downloaded onto either his phone or my phone (he couldn't make Villa game so doing it now). I can see both of our season tickets in my account, but if I select mine the "download NFC Mobile Ticket" is available, but if I select his then the option is greyed out. He is set up as "strong relationship"

Any idea what I am doing wrong? (Apple phones)

Have you logged into his account either on yours or his phone?

Anyone tried to reallocate a ticket to an individual in a different price banding? Do you get offered the chance to upgrade it or is that a call the ticket office job?

Tried to set one up, but it says password not recognised, and when we try to do forgot password option it doesn't send him an email so we can't get in. So I abandoned that one and now trying to do it via my account, which should still be possible I guess?

Sounds like a ticket office job to reboot his account.

Pretty sure you have to be logged into his account in order to download his ticket, so you'll need to get the ticket office to reset his account or amend the email address on it so you can access it.

Yes, download yours first then log into his account and change password again etc etc. It should then work.

By the way, at Spurs they use QR codes and despite 3 checks, getting in the ground was quick and easy and holding your phone under the QR reader was no problem at all.

    I wasn't aware of this but it is worth knowing;

When you open your ticket on your phone it will time out after a period of time (not sure what it is). So if you try and be prompt and have your ticket ready in plenty of time before you get to the turnstile then you could inadvertently be too prompt and it won't recognise the ticket. It is simple in that you'll just need to close it and re-open it, but I know a few people reported their ticket not working against Villa when in truth they had just had it open too long.

Also, if you keep your bank card in a phone holder then you may want to take them out. The NFC reader could pick up your bank card before it picks up your match ticket, not recognise it and subsequently not let you in.

Not sure how it works with the football tickets but if I tee up a bank card on my phone to pay with it has a 30 second countdown timer.

That is how it was described to me, a timeout the same as a bank card. I'm just not sure what the time out limit is for the match ticket.

Brighton used QR codes as well with no problem. It seems they are far more reliable than the NFC technology in use at Watford.

Luck of the draw - I had no issue getting into Watford but had a nightmare at Brighton.

We'd better join the campaign to bring back paper tickets. There's an article in the current issue of When Saturday Comes bemoaning the loss of tickets as memorabilia.

UEFA offered to send me a 'souvenir' paper copy of my electronic England v Germany ticket for €15. Cheeky bastards.

How do you buy a ticket for someone else these days? Was going to try to take a friend who doesn't support an English team to the Stoke game. Do I have to create him an account with an ID, then log in and allocate the seat to him? I've previously bought tickets for other people but can't see any obvious way of selecting multiple seats at the same time. Surely I don't need to buy mine, jot down the seat number and then go back in and buy one for him next to me?

I'd appreciate any replies written in an idiot's step by step guide as that's clearly what I need.

    I’d say:

Create his account and note down the Fan ID.
    Log in to your account.
Add him to your Friends and Family (under Personal Details) as a strong relationship
Then you can go to the Stoke tickets, select two and assign one to you and one to him.

Not 100% sure how you get the actual ticket to his phone from there.

I got a new iPhone this week. I shall be interested to see if I can get it to successfully operate the Rookery turnstiles tomorrow with its NFC technology, which my old one didn't. If not I shall conclude the problem lies with the readers rather than the device.

This is exactly what I did yesterday when ordering a ticket for someone else. I assigned the ticket to my friend but the confirmation email came to me with the 'click here to download ticket' button. I forwarded that to my mate, he clicked download and it took him to his fan ID. All he was missing was the password I set him up with, but when I gave him that he was in and the ticket went into his wallet.
