Sema to start, collapse with exhaustion after 5 minutes, only to score a banger a minute later and last 90 minutes
Wasn't far wrong haha! Hungbo is still very raw, and we've only yet seen him come off the bench in the league against tired legs, but I wonder if anything happened to Sema on international duty, would he be in line to start?
Gutted for him, he looks like he has something to offer. He's absolutely rapid and looks switched on, just needs some fine tuning. Hopefully he's given a fair crack in pre-season and forces his way into the squad for next season, like he did this year.
I imagine a loan is the more likely option, we've seen glimpses of what he can bring but he's still so very raw. I'm not sure playing in the PL will help that at all, a loan to a top half L1 team or potentially a bottom half Champ team will be most likely outcome.
Agreed. It's the decision making that's the problem for him. Might be because the pressure gets to him as doesn't get that many opportunities but he's been in several good positions that haven't even yielded a good chance for the striker. Needs a loan at a club near the top of a division where he will have lots of opportunities to attack, feels like League 1 his best bet.
Needs games, a raw talent, but at 21, he's not going to improve much being stuck in the U23s. Get him a loan to the Championship, or maybe a top League 1 team where he'll see a lot of the ball and have lots of chances to improve that end product, and who knows, he might be in the first team on a regular basis the season after next
Would be very surprised if there's a Championship side wanting to sign him for their starting 11. Extend his deal, loan to league 1, if he does well sell him. Unless we get relegated, then maybe use him as rotation
Think he's still working his way back yeah. It's a shame he's missing pre-season because I was hoping the club would find a good loan for him like they have done with Cukur and Phillips.
Good move for him. Would have preferred a league 1 team, but the SPL, is about the same equivalent with a bit of lower championship mixed in. He will be Ross County’s best player, so will most likely play every game. Will play against Rangers and Celtic 3 times each, so at least that will be a good challenge for him. Only Gray, Navarro and Success left. Although Success is clearly off to Udinese on deadline day.
It's not as if Ross County are a pub team tbf! I don't know too much about them as a team, but they'll be playing teams who are probably a mix of League 1 and Championship standard, plus Rangers who might be Prem level, so it's a higher standard of football than I'd have expected for him. Football-wise, it's a good choice of loan IMO, although off the pitch, Dingwall is probably as different as you can get to London within Britain!
Perhaps useful to note that Ross County are managed by Malky Mackay, I wonder if he has any connection to the club anymore? It's a very different looking Watford FC now!
I wasn’t sure whether he’d be finding a loan in the Championship or League One, so the SPL feels like a nice compromise in terms of quality. I hope he enjoys the experience and comes back a better player.
He needs to play games, he's going to be 22 in January and his whole senior career so far consists of three starts in games we didn't care about, two for Aldershot Town and a smattering of sub appearances. He's at risk of being another one of those professional footballers who never actually play football that we seem to collect.
Have to say I was a bit sceptical of this move, Ross County are one of the worst teams in the league so I thought he might struggle for opportunities to shine, but they apparently play a pretty attacking style of football, and Hungbo has hit a run of form. I really liked him from his cameos with us last season, if (and yes, it is an if!) we go down, this will be decent preparation for a season in the Championship!
A cheeky dummy for the first goal as well. Some good development loans. Dele-Bashiru, Dahlberg, Pollock, Zinckernagel and Hungbo all playing well. I hope Baah either plays for us or gets a loan in January because he's some player.
