You make it emotive by calling the 95% of people who don’t agree with you morons and trying to suggest they aren’t real Watford fans. Pretty simple.
Nothing to do with agreeing with me. I'm just saying support our players. Surely even you can understand that message? If people cannot do a simple thing like that, then the club doesn't really need fans like that around.
There's not really much to see and analyse yet though is there? And who's been paying much attention to whatever's been going on at the Villa other than noting the demise of Grealish and the ascendancy of Buendia and a couple of others who may not even be playing. Anyone got a handle on Villa's pre-season? Doubt it. So, in the face of a total absence of any real 'evidence' whatsoever I'd prefer to go with a bit of innate optimism as opposed to pessimism. Not that that's a criticism of WFC supporters per se. I reckon it's an affliction suffered by a majority of supporters of all small to middling football clubs. As for the world 'turning to fire' well there are a number of governmental and private initiatives now pointing in the right direction on that front and I'm much more optimistic than I was even five years ago. Optimism and evidence rather than blind hope.
But that’s the point, there are one or two posters who actively dislike Troy (one in particular) everyone else just doesn’t rate him as a footballer anymore, which is born out by actual evidence. Rather than providing fact based evidence as to why he should be starting, you're making up a narrative that everyone just hates him personally, this isn’t the case at all is just a figment of your imagination and your style of arguing with everyone. For the last time, nobody (bar possibly one poster) doesn’t want Troy starting because they dislike him personally, it’s down to footballing ability and footballing ability alone. You can try and twist it back yet again if you want, but it’s not the reality.
Yes. Friendlies. Transfer activity. Players being involved with the squad. Contract disputes. News from around the club. Podcasts. Plenty of information to go on. As it's been a dire pre-season you and others have done the usual and said that pre-season doesn't matter. Of course, had we won every game 8-0, it would matter to the same people and that drum would have been banged hard. There's also a difference between wanting to win and thinking we'll lose. Some people seem to have extreme trouble being able to differentiate between them. The fact it bothers anyone would be quite hilarious if it wasn't so sad.
Ha! I can differentiate very easily between those two things ta very much! And it doesn't 'bother me'. I just find that unjustified negativity sad if you want to talk sad. My point regarding evidence was that while you might have any amount of observations to make regarding what's been happening at our gaff during this close season (and you're right - I don't rate close season stuff as particularly important), I reckon you have next to none to make (but feel free to surprise me without resorting to google) over what's been happening at the Villa over the same time period. Other than that they've lost one 'superstar', and gained three players of quality, two of which at least are unlikely to start on Saturday due to injury. So that hardly strikes me as them being streets/2+ goals ahead of us. So whatever data you might have is hardly comparative seeing as you have little or nothing to compare it against. And consequently pretty meaningless. In addition, the last two times we played the Villa we beat them at the Vic. and only lost to them in the return fixture in the last minute to a goal from a player who shouldn't have even still been on the pitch. A result which, in itself, sent us down rather than them. As for winning all our pre-season friendlies 8-0 then I'm sure I'd have noticed that and 'banged a drum' for it. As I'm sure you would too. But if we'd won all of our lost pre-season friendlies by a similar score to those that we've lost, I couldn't really have given a monkey's. In fact, I'm not really up on who we've played and who we've beaten and who we've lost to. Yep, it's that unimportant to me. Season starts on Saturday with a full house at the Vic. after 18 months of purgatory. All the rest is fluff.
I'm slightly more optimistic for this than I was 24 hours ago. They've got lots of annoying injuries and have managed to have a similarly disjointed pre-season like us albeit with better reasons behind why. It should be a perfect time to play them and it all depends on the team that Xisco picks. Typing this I would give it about 30 a percent chance that he picks a team which stands no chance of causing Villa remotely any trouble whatsoever. I can kind of see us knicking it but i'm just not sure where even an outside threat would come from. Watford 1 - 0 Villa after a gruelling day back in the premier league in the rain. A deflected Cathcart header from the only corner of the second half.
In danger of 'flogging a dead horse here' I'll choose to respond hb1. This is exactly the sort of post that gets your detractors incensed. Here you claim that anybody that disagrees with you on here over Deeney is "a sad reflection on the people that write on here rather than anything else". That's a direct insult to people who hold a different opinion to you. The vast majority on this topic. Then, in another subsequent post, you offer the insight that it's nothing to do with holding an opposite opinion but rather all to do with 'Deeney hatred' (none of which I've personally noticed on this thread thus far) despite what a19tgg might have had to say about one poster, at least, holding that opinion. Maybe he/she/those people exist and have expressed that view on other threads. But not here. So I'm afraid that is what all the rest of us perceive as A COMPLETE PIECE OF CONDRADICTORY NONSENSE hb1. Together with all the other pejorative comments around 'hatred' etc. which I have yet to see demonstrated on this thread at all.
But, self-evidently, you obviously do! As demonstrated any number of times by you're refusal to listen to any opposing view and your failure to engage with it. But simply resorting to insult instead. And bowing out with a dismissal. I.m.h.o., that's simply a bit sad. Admit it. You were entirely contradictory. Anyone who can't hold their hands up and admit an error is diminished. Not just i.m.h.o. But by everyone's.
Good. So you should mate. I'm gonna postulate 'small man syndrome' in the previous altercation. A 'big bloke' doesn't need to resort to that sort of nonsense.
Season starting too early for us I feel Watford 0 villa 3 ,we are carrying to many non ptem standard players. Going to be a tough start to a tough season .
I'd forgotten how useless EPL refs are but you've just reminded me. Thanks. Why doesn't the EPL pay the top refs from around the world to take charge of matches instead of hiring useless old duffers like Dean, Jon Moss (!!!), Anthony Taylor, Stuart f***ing Attwell etc etc. The Euros showed how enjoyable football can be even with VAR if there's a decent referee in the middle.
Mike Dean is actually one of the few really good refs. He’s honest and doesn’t bend to reputations. If anything he favours the smaller club in matches.
So 'reverse prejudice' then. Surely he shouldn't 'favour' anyone at all? Or should that be 'flavour'? Obviously at the forefront of Troy's agenda.
Actually the entire refereeing community are way better than any of us like to think we might be in embarking on a 'poisoned chalice' job. For which they've been well trained and are the best available. Whereas the rest of us w.nkers shout and pontificate a lot from a 'sedentary position'.
Exactly. Fat, obese c.nt wedded to KFC, Nando's and McDonald's in the close season and some sort of parody of a Michelin Man footballer stealing a living. I can't stand the bloke and hate him with a vengeance.
I'm not putting myself forward! I reffed a kids game about 20 years that ended in a complete breakdown of law and order! I just think given the trillions spent on the world's best players, the league should commit to getting in the best refs rather giving fellas like Jon Moss 50 quid to spend Saturday afternoon cocking things up
I think you're seriously underestimating Jon Moss's wedge there. B.t w., he's now a 50 y.o. which I thought would have precluded any further participation. I'm a 68 y.o. Give me a flag and I'm anybody's.
I’m one of Deeney’s strongest advocates but he looked completely finished last season so hard to see him contributing a year on and in a higher league. He does look in much better shape than he has for a while so we will see.
