I agree. Why he is still at the club is beyond me. I just see disruption if things don't go his way. The team together is greater than the sum of one.
The perfect fixture to begin the season with, Villa are an arrogant club with a sh*t coach in Dean Smith. A clever game plan sees us kill these lot on the counter, but unfortunately I'm not convinced Xisco has the accumen for that. Because of our transfer activity I think Xisco is sacked by the end of August.
I think Pinnock is Andre Gray's partner; no PL experience but rumour is she has a better first touch. Perhaps we should sign her as an unknown and throw her in to add a little mix to the squad.
This is our strongest XI IMO. Bachmann Kiko, WTE, Sierralta, Rose Kucka, Louza, Etebo Sarr, Deeney, Cucho If we play that team, then we’d give Villa a game. If we deviate too much from that then we’ll lose.
During our last Premier League stay we could put in a shyt performance and still manage to get a draw out of it. Mainly because we had players like Capoue, Doucoure and Deulofeu who were still good even on their off days. Look at this team, if we play shyt then we are getting battered.
Total illogical nonsense. That suggests he only raises his game for one team, which raises a whole load of additional questions about him beyond the obvious. He’s no more likely to score against Villa than he is any other team, if it were that simple he could score against any team if he put his mind to it, couldn’t he?
He was just about the worst striker in the championship last season. I don't care how much he hates villa. He is total and utter dog muck at playing football which is far more important.
Well he did once, ran his mouth off about it and now gets schooled by them every time we’ve played them since. Even got a red card once for elbowing one of their players.
So if he scores against Villa you’ll boo I take it? Or at the very least you’ll abstain from celebration? Anything else would be hypocritical wouldn’t you agree? Can’t believe so many of our own fans detest this player so much. It’s quite sad really. Anyone that stands up for him gets so many emotive replies. It’s actually quite funny.
No. I find this position from the cult of Deeney equally strange. I think he is a very bad footballer and his impact on the team I support is negative. There is nothing more to it. Doesn't mean I hate the bloke personally nor does it mean I wouldn't celebrate if he scored a goal. The lot of you seem to be unable to reconcile that Deeney is not the player he was 5 years ago and no amount of pashun and tough talking no nonsense interviews will fix that. He might put in a good perfomance every 15-20 games where he looks to be back, like he did against Stoke, but that doesnt make up for the other 14 games where he makes us a considerably worse side. It doesnt make up for the fact that him being injured was the single most important thing in us getting promoted.
I’m actually quietly (very quietly because everyone seems to think we’re already down..) confident of us picking up a few points in the first couple of games and onwards. We have (imo) a much much stronger squad than we did a couple years ago in the PL and we were literally one win away from staying up.. so surely we should get behind the boys before slagging them off before a ball’s even been kicked! Let’s see how the new boys do - I really think they look up for proving themselves - been very impressed with Etebo in particular, who is exactly the type of player which I think we would have benefitted massively from last time out in the PL. If we can get 2 other CMs really playing and form a good relationship then our midfield could be strong. In terms of defence, I do think we are lacking a quality PL proven CB to partner FS but maybe WTE will prove us wrong and we still have time to get one in if it looks like we need it desperately. I think the defence as a whole is under par but I really do believe that if we get a consistent midfield 3 who can be physical and dynamic (Kucka & Louza deffo look like they can do a job alongside Etebo) and a front 3 who are direct and dangerous (Sarr has the potential to change games, Cucho looks v exciting & we have King, Dennis, Pedro all as BACK UPS to Deeney **I’m not saying I’d start him but he’s the most likely starter atm** then we can be a problem for a lot of teams this season and we have a much more solid squad (and more strength in depth by far) than last time we were here. Throw on top of that a positive manager who we have seen has instilled a good team spirit throughout the squad + has had a whole season with the core of the squad (something which is very rare for us) and I think we should all be a bit less negative, really get behind the boys and not turn to doom and gloom as a default. (yes I do believe he is not as tactically adept as he needs to be but he can 100% learn by experience)
I’m genuinely curious here. Why on earth would you start Deeney? Can’t run, certainly doesn’t score, doesn’t win anything in the air. And please don’t say leadership, I’ve already had someone say to me we should start Troy because he’ll be in the refs ear
This is such an utterly ridiculous argument. Deeney is no longer fit for purpose, people don’t dislike him, they just don’t want him in the team because he’s just not good enough and hasn’t been for a while. That doesn’t mean people wouldn’t cheer or be happy if he scored against Villa, you’re the only one trying to make that link in a pathetic attempt to defend your stance on him.
Easy to answer. Right now he’s the best man for the job. He regularly scores against Villa. He’s in form, scoring goals, looking fit and injury free. I know it doesn’t fit the narrative, but he’s above King right now in terms of where he is with his fitness.
Ok, so you’re a troll account. Nobody could say what you’ve just said with a straight face. As you were everyone.
What form is this? He’s scored one goal against a weakened Doncaster off the top of my head? Cucho is considerably better than him so I’d go with him personally
Cucho is far better on the left IMO. Either way, it’s up to what Xisco thinks and I’d be quite surprised if he doesn’t start with Deeney.
I’m genuinely not sure if it’s up to what Xisco thinks. Because if it was; Deeney wouldn’t be anywhere near this team
Oh yeah…….who is it picking the team next week. Gino, Scott or Giaretta? Lol. These notions get crazier by the day.
The next great hope because he is young and looks fancy .. One will come good at some point. (If they hang around long enough !)
