Now reported in The S*n and by Alan Nixon. Palace appear to be front runners - figures reported would surely be beyond us though? £50k a week and £3.5m just to loan him….
That is insane money. If we needed a LW then maybe it’d be worth the expense, but I think we’re covered there: Cucho, Dennis, JP, Sema. Spend that on a CB or a CM.
Ridiculous money. We could plough all of that into a Serie B keeper and a St Mirren midfielder instead.
How? He’s a good, young English player who performed well last season in the PL. Irrespective of position, we need more players who can do that!
Admittedly I liked the look of Lookman last season when I saw him. Very comfortable on either foot which is a joy to see. But what is it around £6m for a season. No thanks.
Harsh, he's someone who's trying to get his career back on track after not quite making the grade at both Everton and Leipzig
I'd have been all over this at the start of the summer, but with Dennis coming in, Cucho seemingly staying and King to play centrally, we do seem to have good depth out wide. Now, if Dennis gets a Nigeria call-up, we'd be a bit short for that month, although that seems thin grounds for signing another winger. Sema to Udinese and Lookman challenging Dennis/Cucho/JP does seem tempting, although not so much for the figures quoted above
£3.5m loan fee does seem like something the Pozzos wouldn’t go near. You’d think they’d be happier to pay £10-12m to get him in on a permanent deal. Maybe that £3.5m fee could be credited against the cost of an option to buy and then the Pozzos might be interested.
We've done well enough with our wingers this window! I suppose we could have a genuine right-winger to deputise for Sarr, but it'd be hard to get anyone willing to sit on the bench for most of the season, and it's not as if RW would be an alien position to the likes of Cucho, Dennis and JP
