For 3, at whatever point in the future, I reckon it will be either lowerrous or Manatleisure. I'd have included Moosegasm, but he thinks flouncing is using floss to clean his teeth, hence why he's never had a girlfriend...

I was pleased when hb1 came back into the fold. I hope Burnsy returns too.

And I'd still like hornetgags to reappear and remind me what a waste of oxygen I am.

Pretty sure @zztop once made a thread announcing he was leaving and was back within the month.

Rookery Dad is back now. Burnsy never left AFAIK. He was on about moving abroad I think, still posts regularly. This place would fall apart if HB1 Moog left ;)

Haha, I had two such episodes. The first lasted about 5/6 months. The Forum had become somewhat toxic, and I thought it best stayed away for a while. I did start a thread, but only because certain posters were speculating why I had gone quiet. The second was when I said I wouldn't take part "for a while" to calm down, and I didn't for a few weeks, and it coincided with my daughter being very ill. I'd say it was more of a "holding up the white flag" than a flounce.

Personally, being one of the few non left wing posters on here can be a strain, but I think being open and up front about wanting a break is better than using the "ignore" button that many others use when they can't handle hearing opinions they disagree with. Ignoring alternative opinions merely demonstrates their own weakness in themselves or in their beliefs . Even worse, is pretending to be someone else using an invented persona, even picking carefully orchestrated fights with their own fake accounts in a pathetic effort to gain favour with others, like Sting did with his Aberdeen account, and they both flounced ff together. If it didn't indicate a potential psychological problem where maybe sympathy was needed, then it would have been quite funny.

The most recent example of a "flounce" followed a handful of critical posts that were entirely of the posters own making. And his "flounce" lasted a few minutes. In fact, it wasn't really a flounce worthy of the name, more like a temper-tantrum I have occasionally witnessed in my toddler grand-daughter, and just as amusing.

So - you’ve explained the personal circumstances around your ‘departures’ and clearly want people to understand/sympathise.

Yet ignore the personal circumstances and pressure I felt and was clear about. Rightio!

This thread is somewhat misleading given that no one can name more than three.

I don't want any sympathy, just saying what happened.

But when you make a big personal statement on here that you will honor your bet and prove it, because you are "Burnsy", but then fail to show that you have actually done it, even though you have been taking part in this forum perfectly happily throughout that time. Then it is your own fault if you were questioned. It's merely about consequences.

    But your first instinct was to indignantly publicly have a go at others, with your big announcement of a "flounce" rather than a quick;

"Sorry guys, I paid a couple of months ago, but I had other things going on and I forgot to post the screenshot of my payment to charity. Hopefully, we can now move on".

Then you would have got everybody's understanding and sympathy that you are after.

Right, I will say this only once…I explained the scenario at the bottom of the relevant thread. But I’ll also give you some background because you’re clearly someone who can’t stop prodding (given you had no need to make any comment about it on this thread whatsoever)

I did not agree with the other thread ever being made. It was, in my eyes, a private bet with another forum member and I would have been happy to have been contacted privately by that person and sorted out the terms of my losing. Yet MINUTES after the final whistle of the game where the main crux of the bet became unwinnable to me, a thread was posted broadcasting to all about said bet and asking everyone to have an opinion on it. Had I asked for that? Probably by agreeing to the bet publicly, yes I had. Still wasn’t particularly keen on it though.

I made a genuine promise to front up the bet. However, I wasn’t keen on the pressure I felt. I was clear about that to the forum member in question privately. My personal financial situation at that time was not great and I also had a gravely ill family member (I don’t say that for sympathy, I say it for context). Yet I still had comments publicly pressuring me to pay. People get brave over a computer screen (including me covering up the financial situation) but I wasn’t happy at all about the situation - yet it was never my intention to not adhere to what I had ultimately agreed. But I didn’t really feel like I wanted to broadcast that at that stage I couldn’t afford it in the grand scheme of things. This all lead to a falling out with the forum member in question and lead to me blocking the forum member in question because I felt they weren’t being understanding of my issue.

That in turn hid the thread in question from my view so when I paid, I didn’t even realise the thread was still live (as I had asked Mods to delete it or lock it - which I only found out yesterday went completely ignored). I discovered the thread by accident yesterday as it came up in ‘latest activity’. So when I took a look, I found some pretty distasteful stuff being said about me which I admit upset me. Perhaps I brought it on myself but there’s seemed to be a fundamental lack of any understanding from anyone about what perhaps can go on in someone’s private life. Only Moog took the opportunity to give me any kind of credit in that respect. It felt like an unfair pile-on. So momentarily, I thought ‘**** it, I’m not posting a screenshot of anything if this is the way they talk. I have nothing to prove, I know what I’ve done and that’s what matters’ - but having gone away, realised the whole scenario, I returned to post the screenshot as I don’t want anyone thinking I wouldn’t pay up to a good cause that may personally have affected others on the board. And then stated for the good of things, I’d draw a line under the matter.

I don’t think putting pressure on individual forum members, financially or mentally, is a good look, irrespective of what they have or haven’t agreed to or any other circumstances.

Again, I hope that draws a line under it for people.

    Pointless, non-Watford related thread.

    Closing.

EDIT: If anyone would prefer it deleted, let me know.
