Will Diagne be confirmed before or after Anderson Talisca? (I hope none of you have forgotten how famously unreliable Turkish media is)
I wouldn't be devastated with Diagne, I would be fairly confident in him doing better than most of our strikers, or some of the strikers we've been linked with, but I'd be happier if we took a gamble on someone younger and brighter
This signing just Mbayes us a little more time to get them back here and their year-long integration period.
Adam Leventhal has started following Diagne on Instagram, he also follows WTE but I’m not sure how else they’d know each other.
Their paths may have crossed in Belgium, Turkey or at international level. As for Troost-Ekong, I have no idea.
Am I right in think AL has known pretty much nothing about all our signings this summer so far? And the previous windows too? Wouldn't look into that at all.
I think AL gets a nod just before it's announced. Maybe a 24 hour warning on certain (not all) transfers. I think Ryan Gray from the WO is also getting good info these days. But I doubt any information comes directly from the Watford board or anyone else close from a Watford perspective. I believe they get their info from player agents, the selling club or the player himself. Clearly AL has a lot of good contacts in the game and I'm sure this is where most of his knowledge comes from. This is why it's a bit scattergun in terms of getting things right and missing out completely on a signing. At the end of the day, he's probably the best source of information we have.
Speak for yourself. As for this guy - I am now following him on twitter. Read into that what you will.
Personally I'm surprised it took him so long to follow him. Surely it is in his best interests to follow all our transfer targets/rumours in case they post images/stories which have clues (ie alluding to travel, etc).
Yes i imagine they only tell AL and RG something when it is pretty mush set in stone and going public with the info can't scupper the deal. I doubt very much that they share info on targets other than very general parts of the squad they are looking to strengthen. Giving them "names" would be really foolish and gains them nothing in return.
It does if Olise would choose to be with Viera at CP than come to us, or we'd get into a bidding war that we couldn't win. It might be that we just never had a chance of signing Olise as soon as CP showed an interest.
I know we’ve just spent a year in the Championship but if couldn’t-afford-to-retain-their-own-players Palace are in a different stratosphere to us in transfer terms we really are in trouble. May as well sell our whole team and plan for another Championship season now.
If Galatasaray want an initial instalment of £2m, and Reading wanted £8m in one fell swoop, I’d say it makes perfect sense. If the fee for Diagne is £8m, that doesn’t make sense however!
Palace have not had a season without TV money in a pandemic-hit year. Even before that, they had spent far more money on players than us and paid substantially more in wages. Different stratosphere? No. But I very much doubt we can compete with them financially in the immediate future.
Beautiful. A front three with those two and Gray running around aimlessly getting in their way. BUZZING.
How do you know we didn't try? Perhaps he hates the song 'Sweet Caroline' and the Cycling GK channel. Anyway, we've got this season's Murray coming in so we don't need Olise. Guaranteed goals.
