Irritating spectacle, but, in hindsight, I should have expected that. The last week can only have been a wind down after the celebrations, and it would have taken men of absolute conviction and few emotions to get themselves up for that game. I will be more disappointed next week if we don’t sign off with a good performance. Success and Gray have, if there was any doubt, shown today that they are not good enough for this level, never mind the premier league. Strange week. Job completed last week.
Ivan Toney has scored approximately ten times as many goals as our four non teenage strikers put together* and yet... we still romped to promotion with two games to spare. We basically deliberately handicapped ourselves at the start of the season and still walked promotion. I thought it was a dangerous game that the club were playing, going into the season with such awful strikers but fair play to them, they obviously watched the Championship last season and realised how crap it is and that you can stroll to promotion without a single competent adult striker. * I haven't actually looked at any figures but feels about right
Norwich won so the result today was irrelevant for us. Gosling should have scored and if he had perhaps the result would have been different. It seemed we lacked any motivation to get back in to it as soon as they scored but it didn't matter. Feel sorry for those that are upset tonight because it means they can't continue to enjoy last weekend
He dived in slow-motion, almost balletic. Success needs to take note. His second half scream and downward fling was particularly embarrassing for a strapping young man.
I genuinely don’t think a single watford fan is upset at today’s result. We basically played our B team. UEA said it earlier, that our starting lineup will resemble our LC rnd 2 fixture next season, and Brentford barely beat us. A lucky break in the middle, and a very soft pen. We were missing 5 first teamers in Kiko, Ekong, Chalobah, Sarr and Pedro. Clevs went off injured in the 30th minute. So 6 first teamers out. We took the pi$$ today and nothing more. Had we been full strength, with something to play for, we would have taken Brentford to school. They were defensively woeful and we got in on multiple occasions. The fact that Success got close enough to hit the bar from 6 yards, tells you how bad Brentford are. Our season finished last weekend when we were promoted to the PREMIER LEAGUE!!!!! Although I wouldn’t be surprised if next weekend we play a much stronger team against Swansea to finish on a high. Swansea have little to play for (home advantage at most) and won’t want to risk injuries to key players. Play-offs looking like Brentford vs Barnsley Bmuff vs Swansea Which hopefully results in a Swansea vs Barnsley play off final.
Or watch the planes flying over to Heathrow. The noise from the flight path might drain out the howls of anquish when they mess up yet another promotion charge.
Even though today's performance stank of dog 'dirt' it was still miles better than that total anti-performance at that Bedfordshire septic tank 2 weeks ago. Apart from the away game at Norwich, we've been poor since the international break.
He gets a massive wedge for running around trying to control a modern pig's bladder filled with air, so it's only by the most strictest of definitions. Nice to see that he's got so much spare cash to spunck on 24ct gold leaf cigars. They also provide a live cigar rolling service. If there is a way to be offside rolling one, he will find it. Let's hope he has more luck cutting the wedding cake than he has had in front of goal, but more than likely he will miss the cake, or fall over and take out the top table.
Jesus Christ! It is lucky that we are promoted out of this league or we would be relegated with the shower of ***** that played today
A lot of strange results today (as always when teams have nothing to play for) Wycombe beating Bournemouth, Brentford beating Watford just two of them!
This post made me laugh so much. A loss in a dead rubber game allows you to rip into the rotten team we have. The arrogant team that got promoted with 2 games to spare. What do you watch? Can you not handle a loss? My goodness, I’d hate to think of your reaction if we hadn’t achieved the one thing we all said we needed to achieve which was promotion.
I don’t like it when we even lose a friendly, but tbh we can lose as many as we want, we have achieved what we set out to do at the start of this most unusual season which was in September!
I suppose, when you think about it, worst case scenario we have a season of EPL money plus 3 more years of parachute payments.
Predictable “Today performance shows that we are good enough and should already have been promoted and not have to go via the Play Offs. !!!” Hahaha. Saw another guy post about if only they played like that in 3 other games etc. Love it.
im glad we went easy on brentford today . its fun to beat these small time clubs but its even more important that are premier league hero's get some down ntime after walking the automatics .
Just think, all they needed to do was play all their games against teams who are already on the beach, partied out, playing their second string and suffering two early injuries and they'd already be promoted!!!!!!
He would definitely choose us anyway. Let’s not forget he wanted us before Brentford but the Peterborough chairman didn’t want to wait. If Brentford fail to get promoted, then Toney will immediately hand in a transfer request. He will want out 100%. Brentford won’t have a choice but to sell him. He is now in his prime years, he won’t want to waste them in the championship. Can see Brentford trying to play Billy Big Boll0cks and demanding £40mil+ for him, fully expect him to sold in the summer for £20-30mil if they don’t get promoted. He will kick up too much of a fuss to keep him.
He is Lower League/Scottish League fodder at best. Trouble is no one will be able to afford his ridiculous wages. Perhaps there will be an American team owner stupid enough or Chinese team desperate enough (can't imagine Gray blinging it off in China) but most probably we will be stuck with Atrocious Andre until the end of his contract.
I’m the happiest of happy clappers, but by god, we are a one man team going forward. No Sarr, muchos impotante. I don’t rate Toney either. There I said it.
