In a club where there is no continuity of management, in that the whole coaching team changes around twice a season, it's natural for players to be the ones bringing that.

This was bad last season as the attitude was poor.

This season it's turned into a positive. Leaders off and on the pitch taking responsibility and buying into the coach for the time being.

If we want to be less reliant on player power, good or bad, they have to know that the manager will be around at least as long as they are.

You cannot argue with his scoring record at Watford. His time is coming to an end at Watford and he is clearly positioning himself for a media career.
He is a 'streetwise guy' from a rough gangland area. He is savvy enough to know how to manipulate people, use their weakness to his advantage. Some may say ' a bully', but this is a word put about too often.
He is always going on about his past, he has been doing this for years. I feel that most other players couldn't give a toss about his background, but would never openly say it.
It appears vital to him that he remains in the public eye, for reasons only he knows. My guess is that deep down he graves adulation and will miss the limelight.
He has been a very good player during his time at Watford. The fans will remember this.

Getting a bit fed up with this Deeney bashing. He has managed to turn a moderate footballing talent into a good career by hard work and determination. He has been a fantastic servant to the club and pivotal to us getting to where we are now. He has overcome a difficult childhood and limited education to establish the seeds of a media career by being decent, articulate and funny. His first responsibility is to his family, not to his employer, although I have never seen evidence of a conflict. He has, as far as I can see, been completely supportive of Xisco and the team in the second half of this season.

All careers come to an end. Do you really expect him to put his hands up, take an 80% pay cut and walk away to a lower champ team? That will come over the next couple of years anyway, why would he accelerate it? Give him a break and acknowledge the part he has played in making us a club that can have expectations of EPL football.
