On the assumption that there will be no Covid restrictions from 14 August, no doubt there will be a waiting list again for season tickets. But what are your expectations on prices? I think the club will need to claw back money so I am expecting them to be >£600 for an adult. Maybe with discount for those who had a season ticket prior to 2015. When do people expect the club will announce renewals. Sometime in May or later?
There’ll have to be some mechanism in place for rebates in case 100% attendance at stadiums is not allowed by the start of the season.
Is it? Why? You can travel anywhere now with a good reason and the restrictions are due to be lifted before the season starts - can’t see why they would restrict games to home fans only if all the mechanisms and travel etc is freely running. There will only be no away fans if more restrictions are bought in (or not lifted) and attendances are severely reduced.
Have we not got some credit somewhere from last years tickets. If so happily pay a bit more next year as that is written off in my head. If it helps fund a striker so be it
Not every chose to keep the credit (I did), however I hope they don't raise the prices too much as a lot of people suffered economically over the last year, many fans would have been furloughed etc., the larger clubs with larger fanbases would get away with it, we wouldn't if we alienated our core support.
I think there will at some point. The roadmap hypothetically has us back to 'normal' in June. We all know by now that things can change for the worst very quickly in a pandemic, but with such widespread vaccination now I struggle to see how things can go completely wrong. Even then, the season ends in May 2022, surely the pandemic will be a distant memory by then.
Getting fans back into stadiums will be great, but I sincerely hope that it does not mean the end of Hive Live. I have seen the vast majority of games this season for the first time and it has been a great experience for fans living outside the UK. I would still intend to travel for a couple of games, but seeing the rest of the games live would help the experience of the fans abroad. I have tried streaming, but it is inconsistent and unreliable. I would be happy to pay for a Hive Live season ticket.
The fact no one can get to the games has waived a lot of restrictions to showing games live. However, with the coverage in the Premier League combined with the rights to air those games would probably make it prohibitive for Watford to continue running a live show. Maybe they could do something straight after the game, as a highlights package with player/manager interviews etc, but I doubt many would pay money (apart from a nominal fee) for this service.
There'll be a backlash if renewals rise by as much as that. I think my last ST was just over £400 so a rise of around £200 would be taking the piss big time.
Think you just have to look at how Premier League clubs have done it this year and we did previously to see the likely model. It'll be free audio commentary only for next season I expect.
It would be good if Sky aired matches live - people paid £10 to Hive so why could Sky not continue even to cover away games only. I know a few people(my parents) who unlikely to go back next year after having ST for 40 odd years because of combination of being 90 years old plus The Covid risk. They would happily continue to pay £10 to watch. I think a lot of our older fans may be in similar position. I am hoping the last year may change things a little
Trouble is all the current arrangements are deviations from the TV broadcast deal signed with Sky, BT and Amazon for 2019-22. And Premier League (bless their hearts) are having to shell out refunds to the broadcasters to keep the show on the road. I can't imagine there's a lot of interest from Sky in putting games up against one another. Or for BT to have to compete with Sky for viewers. Amazon have toyed with it on a couple of weekends on Prime and it'd be interesting to see if they see a future in that. I understood it was a bit of a loss leader for them. There's a new TV deal due for 2022-25. There might be scope in that to change how things are done...but I bet it'll drop quite a bit in value and if sticking the status quo keeps the bids highest the PL clubs will take that over innovation any day. EDIT: In fact, this from the Liverpool Echo today confirms it's most likely the TV deal will just carry on as it has been. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spo...ews/everton-liverpool-learn-32m-fate-20475560 That means back to how it was normally once fans are back in the stadium.
Isn’t that the loyalty (pre 2015 season ticket holder) price at £436. The full price was £560. hope i am wrong, but can see the full price going up to £615 and discount to £515.
For now, you'll have to learn how to stream - only way you'll see all of our games next season. Depending where you live (you said outside of the UK?) there may be a legal way to watch all Premier League games via a local broadcaster.
Gate revenue is a fairly low percentage of total revenue, however we have of course lost a lot due to relegation, all things considered I don’t think they would increase the season tickets more than 10% max from last season!
I seem to remember the packages Amazon won were as is, in other words the right to show two rounds (I think it was 2 in the first season, but might have been more after that) of PL games simultaneously on those days. So it was not so much an experiment on Amazon’s part, but rather the PL for offering those packages up for auction in the first place. Maybe the idea though, was for one of the streaming sites to win them and see how it went.
You're right, in that they were packaged like that by the PL to test the market and specifically aiming for a streaming service to bid. In the end I think only Amazon made a bid (if I remember rightly).
This is rather sad. I would rather pay the club than some local broadcaster. Of course, WFC will probably get more income from being part of an international package than they would from overseas fans. This is why the superleague dropouts have complained that they should get more broadcasting income than the other 14 clubs.
We'll yes, as shareholders in the Premier League the club will indirectly get the money you pay the local broadcaster, and I bet it's a lot more than a tenner per game per view!
Just logged in at I've got a £315.80 credit on my account from season 19/20. This might also include the £20 paid this season to secure your seat. We are in SEJ stand and think it was approx £500 two years ago so fully expect it to be £600+ but have a nice rebate of £315 to come off ☺
I take it that is for more than 1 person. My credit in UGT is £149 (but my UGT is discounted as pre 2015 ST holder)
