Speaking of bedwetters, is Nate calling them out now?! He should have tagged the wfcforums account in this one I think! :D

Do the bedwetters want to formalise an official response/apology? I do apologise for doubting him earlier in the season. He turned it around for sure.

Unlike our recent stint where I could always see a gaggle of 6-8 clubs who would be in the relegation mire right from the off, I don't think it's as clear cut this time around.

Fairly content putting Brighton, us and Norwich into the mix. Plus whoever comes up through the play-offs.

Then a lot of maybes: Newcastle if they stick with Bruce. Would have to assume Villa and Leeds will strengthen big time but who knows if that'll come off and Wolves presumably too unless their Chinese money has dried up. Dyche always seems to get Burnley to do enough and Palace too if Hodgson stays. Southampton can't seem to decide if they're good or not - awful at the start of 19/20 and worst in the league second half of this year, world class for a time in between.

Brighton are a striker away from threatening the top half IMO. Lost count of the amount of games they’ve dominated just to miss chance after chance and draw/lose. Potter has got them playing nicely too.

Burnley again will be relying on Dyche to stay. Usual rumours of him walking away floating around. Palace to me look in dire trouble.

Southampton have been pretty dreadful in recent months - and Wolves will also be keen to arrest a fairly dramatic slide.

Big fan of Chalobah, always have been. And would like to think that’s aimed at ‘fans’ who personally chose to attack him/the team on social media.

But he would also do well to remember that the squad needed a big ‘clear the air meeting’ where some of them were old uncomfortable truths and told to pull their fingers out. Not really sure why fans having that same opinion at times this season is any different and players going for fans of the club they play for isn’t a great idea, even if it’s just letting off steam.

    Just enjoy the moment!

I'm looking forward to next season even with the likelihood we could go straight back down (after all, West Brom and Fulham look to be getting relegated, and Fulham have gone down before, and they're both bigger clubs than us). Going into the season with a young, committed squad playing good football, with the expectation that we might make virtually wholesale changes (including the manager if Gino sees fit) and play the more dour, pragmatic football that Burnley and Palace play. It's this element of the unknown that makes next season exciting.

That way, unless we have a first half of the season similar to that of 2019/20, I can enjoy the season without being too disappointed whatever happens, unlike in 2015/16 where my satisfaction at a solid start was slightly marred by the fact none of the regulars who'd been major contributors to our promotion campaign (Vydra, Angella, Munari, Tozser, Forestieri, Guedioura) were playing.

Didn’t actually hear him live, but on Talk Spot they kept reporting about Troy reacting to promotion and that despite going up, he’d got stick online for taking his TS role. I think we’ve always known it but it’s a sure sign he reads a lot of online criticism?

I don't think any clubs are spending anything like £30m on any one player. I don't even think Man United will have the money to do that this year. Will make it interesting, because clubs will struggle to get players off their books as well as sign new players. Last summer I think clubs were banking on the revenue streams being back this season, which they haven't been...

I agree with this but that also means United won't be able to afford Sancho. We could push harder for more for Sarr knowing this.

As long as we recruit well and remember what mistakes led to our relegation in 2020, I see no reason why will be near the relegation battle. We were never anywhere near relegation in our first 4 seasons back up, even when we came 17th in 2017 we had been safe for weeks before that.

It took a series of monumental errors combined with bad luck to get us relegated, that surely won't be repeated any time soon.

I bet they do. Maybe not those expected to be near the bottom - but I bet a fair few clubs spend that on one player.

There were a lot of errors made by the club but we were shafted a lot by VAR also. There seemed to be a collective to keep Villa up by any means possible. The EPL needs big clubs you see.

We can’t do anything about VAR. whereas we got a lot of good decisions this season, I expect that to be reversed next season as per normal.

Where we can improve is over the big mistakes. Hiring the right coach, recruiting the right players. I think they have to change their model. Sign players who will be good for Watford, rather than just a commodity to make the club a few bucks. It’s vital we get that right.

Even though we have a very good squad by Championship standards, it will fall way short in the EPL. We all know it.

If we address the main weaknesses, i.e the forward areas, we’ll have a good chance of staying up. You’re only as good as your strikers.

Team spirit is good right now. That should give us a few cheap early results, similar to a new manager bounce. Hopefully the fixture list will be kinder to us. I’d like to play one or two of the big boys but then have a healthy mix of mid-table and strugglers from our opening fixtures. It’s so important to get off to a good start.

I hope the club are sensible. I do not want long term contracts with huge wages that have no relegation clause.

listening to Scott I felt that financially if he had not been ported we would have serious issues. I know COVID was unforeseen but I do not want to gamble the clubs future.

I think most Watford fans would expect a sensible approach

Apparently the season before last some players were very disgruntled due to reported non payment of end of season bonus for league position/FA cup final etc.
That affected performances last season including the first game 0-3 debacle vs Brighton and we never recovered any momentum.

This year it is reported that there is a fat bonus handout to the players based on promotion, appearances etc.
    So they should be happier.
So at least hopefully Duxbury and Pozzo have “learnt from our mistakes” from this and it will not be a monkey on the players backs next season.

And the players playing ‘for their manager’ as he’s a nice chap.

At least that’s 2 ticks in the correct boxes.

Learn how to beat the first man from corners and that would be 3 ticks.

Employ reids as set piece analyst and it could be 4 ticks.
Get rid of some dead wood, 5 ticks.
    Keep Sarr, 6 ticks.

How many ticks do we need?

Another extraordinary season of finishing 17th! The Pozzos have pushed this club so far, I'm proud to support a battler for survival. 4-4-2 is the way forward, with our big man Troy partnering the accurate Andre. We don't need Sarr, because Success will come good, and guide us to a respectable finish!

It’s going to be very tough but I think we will make a fist of it with a couple of astute signings.

At any rate, if we can give Hughes, Chalobah and Sierralta new contracts, and end the season with Gray, Deeney, Perica and Success off the books then we will be in a much better position whatever else happens. A good chance for us to reset.

Spot on. Just imagine the wages those four are on. Got to be close to 7m! Frightening amount of money. Perica and Success will be easier to shift than the non dynamic duo though.
